Enough is \u2062enough.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Earlier\u2064 this year,\u200c the Defense Department launched \u2064a new policy that uses U.S. taxpayer dollars to pay for service members\u2019 \u200ctravel \u2063expenses to\u2062 get abortions, constituting a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.heritage.org\/life\/commentary\/biden-played-politics-abortion-and-national-defense-tuberville-right-fight-it\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">violation<\/a> of the Hyde Amendment. In response to this unlawful guidance, Sen. Tommy Tuberville, R-Ala., began using his position on the\u200d Senate Armed Services Committee to slow-walk votes on\u2062 President Biden\u2019s\u200b military nominees. Rather than allow the \u200dcommittee \u2062to \u2062confirm \u2063a large\u200c number of military nominations \u201cen masse,\u201d the Alabama senator\u2019s protest forces the body to \u2062vote on each nomination one at a \u200ctime.<\/p>\n<p>In\u200c addition to facing attacks from\u200c Democrats \u2014 who have <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2023\/09\/20\/schumers-cave-on-military-nominations-shows-his-attacks-on-tuberville-were-always-political\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">baselessly<\/a> claimed the protest\u200c harms U.S. \u201cmilitary\u200d readiness\u201d and \u201cnational security\u201d \u2014 Tuberville has come <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2023\/11\/01\/gop-senators-betray-tuberville-over-protest-of-pentagons-abortion-extremism\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">under fire<\/a> \u2064from his GOP colleagues. \u2062Several of these \u201cRepublican\u201d senators,\u200d including Dan Sullivan of Alaska, Joni Ernst of Iowa, and others, are <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2023\/12\/01\/senate-republicans-prepare-to-hand-democrats-abortion-victory-over-tubervilles-protest\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">reportedly<\/a> preparing to side with Democrats in advancing a resolution to\u200d change\u2062 Senate rules that would allow the body to skirt\u200b Tuberville\u2019s\u2063 protest and effectively permit\u200c the DOD\u2019s\u2062 unlawful abortion\u2063 policy to go unchallenged.<\/p>\n<p>With \u2063the Pentagon unlikely to change its\u2063 position, the\u200b only way for Republicans to \u200bnuke the\u2062 immoral guidance is\u200b via the National Defense \u2062Authorization Act (NDAA) for Fiscal Year 2024. \u2063While the House-passed version of the bill included such \u200da provision that \u2014 according to \u2062 <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2023\/12\/01\/senate-republicans-prepare-to-hand-democrats-abortion-victory-over-tubervilles-protest\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Tuberville<\/a> \u2014 had\u2063 the votes\u200c to \u2062pass\u2062 in the upper chamber, Senate Majority \u2064Leader Chuck\u2064 Schumer purportedly killed the amendment before it\u2064 could be considered.<\/p>\n<p>With Congress currently negotiating the NDAA\u2019s specifics, \u200dHeritage\u2063 Action is threatening to oppose the bill should it\u200d fail to include language gutting the Pentagon\u2019s unlawful abortion policy. According to Walker, the conservative organization\u2019s\u200d potential opposition to the bill would mark \u201cthe first \u2062time in nearly a \u200ddecade\u201d that it will have fought the defense package\u2019s final passage.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cConservatives must use the NDAA to \u2062ban Chinese \u200dland purchases, curb American capital flowing to the Chinese military, and\u2064 cut all \u200cties to the dangerous research labs that gave us the COVID pandemic,\u201d Walker said. \u201cBut \u200dwe cannot defeat our enemies abroad as long \u200das the military is used to \u2063fight Biden\u2019s political battles at home.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>While not\u200d a political action committee, Heritage Action <a href=\"https:\/\/heritageaction.com\/scorecard\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">grades<\/a> members \u2063of Congress based on their voting records. The more conservative a politician\u2019s voting record is, the higher their\u200b score will be.
