Acevedo, surprise of surprises, didn\u2019t \u200clisten.<\/p>\n<p>So, the \u200bhomeowner\u200d let his <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/2a-win-judge-blocks-voter-approved-gun-control-law-called-extreme-nation\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Second Amendment<\/a> rights speak in a way that his vocal cords\u200c couldn\u2019t.<\/p>\n<div class=\"firefly-embed\">\n<\/div>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.wral.com\/story\/homeowner-shot-man-trying-to-break-inside-knightdale-home\/21174013\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">WRAL-TV<\/a> reported that Acevedo was\u2063 subsequently found on the \u200dscene\u2064 with a gunshot wound by police and \u201ctransported\u200b to WakeMed [hospital] \u200d with a non<a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/police-officers-shot-across-the-country\/\" title=\"Police Officers Shot Across The Country\">-life-threatening gunshot wound<\/a>.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Now, it\u2019s worth noting that there\u2019s no confirmation from authorities, at least as of Saturday morning, that \u200bthe homeowner\u2019s actions were fully justified under North Carolina\u200b law.<\/p>\n<p>All three outlets reported that police are consulting with the Wake County District Attorney\u2019s Office and that, to quote \u2062WNCN, \u201cno\u200c charges have been filed against the homeowner.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>There\u2019s also no word\u200d about\u2063 what charges Acevedo might face. Granted, given the situation, \u2064he\u2019ll \u2063most likely face some form of criminal\u200d charge, but the language in the reports strongly suggests there\u2019s no summary exculpation of the property owner.<\/p>\n<p>Police are also still asking for residents in the area with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/sick-principals-created-shared-meme-teens-exposed-breast-surveillance-video-lawsuit-alleges\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">video surveillance<\/a> or other information\u200c regarding\u200d the incident to \u2062step forward, \u2063a \u200bsign that authorities are still trying to determine the sequence of events that led up to\u2062 the\u2064 shooting.<\/p>\n<p>That\u2062 said, if \u200bevents occurred the \u200cway the homeowner described\u200d them\u2063 to police, this should be dismissed as an example of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/banning-the-word-field-is-ridiculous\/\" title=\"Banning The Word \u2018Field\u2019 Is Ridiculous\">playing stupid games<\/a>\u200c and winning stupid \u2063prizes, all \u2064courtesy of the Second Amendment.<\/p>\n<p>Spoiler alert: As a \u2062blanket statement, it\u2019s \u200bsafe to say <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/dad-loses-gun-permit-defending-family-shoot-home-intruders-caught-camera\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">home intruders<\/a> do \u200dnot mean you well.<\/p>\n<p>They\u200d aren\u2019t coming in to feed your dogs because you forgot to. They\u2019re \u200dnot \u200bcoming in to \u200cclean your kitchen. They\u2019re not entering your domicile to leave you a fruitcake for the holidays. (Although in \u200bthe last instance, is responding with some degree of force <em>really<\/em> so unjustified? You\u2019ve tasted fruitcake, people. \u00a0Even gifting it \u2014 much less forcing\u2063 someone to taste it \u2014 comes dangerously\u2064 close\u200c to the\u200d definition \u2063of misdemeanor assault in some jurisdictions.)<\/p>\n<p>No. A person who <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/alleged-home-intruder-growled-something-tough-armed-homeowner-confronted-shouldve-just-kept-mouth-shut\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">intrudes on your property<\/a> and looks to enter your house \u2014\u200b particularly at 11:20 \u200bp.m. on a Wednesday night \u2064\u2014 prima facie means to do violence to you and\/or your property. And, what\u2019s \u200bmore, \u2063you don\u2019t know what weapons they have \u2063on them.<\/p>\n<p>Logically speaking, \u200bthen, you have every right\u2062 to defend yourself \u2014 and thankfully, the founders had enough insight to insert \u200dan amendment into \u2064the Constitution which ensured you wouldn\u2019t have to do it\u200d with a meat cleaver.<\/p>\n<p>This doesn\u2019t discount \u2062the chance that \u2064the homeowner\u2019s\u200d account is an erroneous \u200done and that there\u2019s more here that meets the eye.
