Version: 4.0.47--><h2>Liberal Lawmakers\u2063 Propose Draconian New Bill to Regulate, Restrict Purchase\u200b of 3-D Printers<\/h2>\n<p>Leave it to New York to come up with a \u2062new plan for \u200dgovernmental overreach.<\/p>\n<p>A <a href=\"https:\/\/legislation.nysenate.gov\/pdf\/bills\/2023\/A8132\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">bill<\/a> introduced in \u2062October and currently \u2063in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nysenate.gov\/legislation\/bills\/2023\/A8132\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">committee\u200b stage<\/a> in the New York State Assembly would require\u200c <strong>criminal history \u200bbackground checks for\u200d the purchase\u200b of three-dimensional printers capable of creating firearms.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Sponsored by Democratic Assembly Member Jenifer\u2062 Rajkumar, the bill is rooted in growing fears about the inability\u200b to track unlicensed \u201cghost \u2063guns\u201d created by 3-D printers.<\/p>\n<p>According to Rajkumar\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/nyassembly.gov\/leg\/?default_fld=%0D%0A&#038;leg_video=&#038;bn=A08132&#038;term=&#038;Memo=Y\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">memorandum<\/a> on her\u2062 proposal, 3-D printers \u201callow\u2063 people to \u2064buy, make, and sell untraceable guns without any\u200b background checks.\u201d The new legislation will\u200c ensure that these phantom\u200b firearms won\u2019t\u200c \u201cget in the wrong hands,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>However, 3-D printer owners \u200dwho use them to create firearms are in the \u200b\u201cextreme minority,\u201d according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ammoland.com\/2023\/10\/ny-lawmakers-want-background-checks-waiting-periods-for-3d-printers\/#axzz8GcMFEbjd\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Ammoland<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>While the bill is\u2064 still far from becoming law, the fact\u2063 that a New \u200dYork state lawmaker even proposed this measure with a straight \u2062face is ludicrous.<\/p>\n<p>Well, ludicrous, but\u200d not unexpected.<\/p>\n<p>Liberal \u2063politicians \u2062have a\u200b long history of governmental overreach, especially \u2062in\u2063 New York.<\/p>\n<p>In 2013, then-Mayor Michael Bloomberg instituted a deeply unpopular ban on \u200dlarge\u200d sodas that was eventually reversed by the New York Court\u200c of Appeals, stating the Board of Health had \u201cexceeded the scope of its regulatory authority,\u201d according\u200c to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2014\/06\/27\/nyregion\/city-loses-final-appeal-on-limiting-sales-of-large-sodas.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The New York Times<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>In 2020, along with its draconian COVID-19 restrictions, New York City banned <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/ap-manhattan-tolls-plastic-bag-ban-approved-in-new-york-budget\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">plastic\u200b bags<\/a>, and New York is still in the throes of intense debates \u2062regarding its\u2062 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/new-york-man-gets-state-stun-gun-ban-overturned-based-second-amendment-rights\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">proposed ban on stun guns<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Banning\u200c something, however, doesn\u2019t necessarily <a href=\"https:\/\/reclaimthenet.org\/new-york-bill-calls-for-a-background-check-on-anyone-that-wants-to-buy-a-3d-printer\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">make it go away<\/a>. Banning plastic bags won\u2019t magically save the environment, banning large sodas won\u2019t magically cure obesity, \u2062and banning all\u2064 firearms \u200cwon\u2019t magically cure the \u2064crime plaguing the largest city in the United States.<\/p>\n<p>But the purpose of these bans has\u200d never been\u2064 about curing our societal ills.<\/p>\n<p>Whether our enlightened \u2064lawmakers\u2062 admit it or\u200d not, these efforts have always been about <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/viral-meme-gun-control\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">exerting control<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Anyone who wants to kill\u200c will find a way regardless of the red tape \u200cin his way. For instance, the man who \u2063 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/former-japanese-pm-shinzo-abe-assassinated-details-strange-device-used-brazen-public-attack-come-light\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">killed<\/a> former\u200b Japanese Prime\u200c Minister Shinzo\u2063 Abe in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ojp.gov\/ncjrs\/virtual-library\/abstracts\/japanese-gun-control-laws-are-oppressive-gun-control-p-252-259-1992\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u201cgun-free\u201d Japan<\/a> created \u2062a weapon with materials easily obtainable at an average hardware store.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">Political violence is rare in\u2062 Japan,\u2062 a country with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/2a-win-judge-strikes-down-new-york-city-gun-regulation\/\" title=\"Judge invalidates NYC gun regulation.\">strict gun regulations<\/a>. So when a former prime minister was assassinated with a homemade weapon, it was a shock. The \u2063incident \u2063serves as a\u200d reminder that determined individuals will find a way \u200baround any restrictions imposed on them. The proposed bill in New York to regulate and restrict the purchase of 3-D printers \u2064is just another example of misguided \u200dgovernment overreach.<\/p>\n<p>The primary argument behind the bill \u200bis the fear of untraceable &#8220;ghost guns&#8221; being \u200dcreated using 3-D printers. While this concern may have some validity, it is important\u200d to note that those who use 3-D printers\u2064 to create firearms are an extreme minority. The vast majority of 3-D printer owners use their machines for legitimate purposes\u200b such as creating \u200bprototypes, models,\u2062 or other non-lethal items. Placing burdensome regulations \u2062on the \u200cpurchase of 3-D printers \u200bbased on \u2063the actions of a few individuals is\u2063 an unfair and unnecessary infringement on the rights of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/california-sheriffs-tell-newsom-they-wont-enforce-covid-curfew\/\" title=\"California Sheriffs Tell Newsom They Won't Enforce COVID Curfew\">law-abiding citizens<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>This proposed bill also raises the question of the effectiveness \u2064of bans\u2062 and restrictions. History has shown us that simply banning something does not make it disappear. The ban on plastic\u2064 bags in New York City did \u2064not magically solve the environmental issues related to plastic waste. Likewise, banning large sodas did not cure obesity. These measures are more about \u2062exerting control over the population than addressing the root \u200dcauses of these\u2062 problems.<\/p>\n<p>The same can be said for the proposed ban\u200c on stun guns and the desire to regulate 3-D printers. They \u200dare about \u2064imposing ideological agendas and \u200basserting\u2063 control over the citizens.\u2064 Criminals and those with malicious\u200d intent will find a \u2063way to \u200bobtain weapons regardless of the regulations\u2063 in place. The focus should be \u200con addressing the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/three-men-found-not-guilty-in-whitmer-kidnapping-plot\/\" title=\"Three men acquitted in Whitmer kidnapping scheme.\">underlying societal\u200d issues<\/a> that lead to crime, rather than restricting the rights \u2064of law-abiding citizens.<\/p>\n<p>Furthermore, the proposed bill is not only unnecessary, but it is also \u2063impractical. How does the government plan to enforce criminal background\u2062 checks for the \u2062purchase of 3-D \u200dprinters? Is every 3-D printer \u200cowner going to be subjected to a background check? Will this lead to a registry of 3-D printer \u200downers? These logistical and privacy\u2064 concerns are important to \u2063consider before implementing such\u2062 a regulation.<\/p>\n<p>It \u200cis\u2064 important that \u2064lawmakers approach these issues with\u2063 a balanced perspective, taking\u200b into consideration both the potential risks and the rights of the individuals involved. Instead of proposing \u200bdraconian \u200dmeasures that \u200drestrict \u200cthe purchase \u200cof 3-D printers, efforts should be\u200d focused on \u200ceducation, raising \u200dawareness about the potential \u200drisks associated with the \u2063creation of untraceable firearms, and promoting responsible use of this technology.<\/p>\n<p>New York should not be leading the\u200c charge\u200b in implementing laws that infringe on the rights of its citizens. Instead, it should be promoting \u2064freedom, individual responsibility, and respect for the rights guaranteed by\u2063 the Constitution.
