Version: 4.0.47--><h2>Outbreak of Mystery\u200b Illnesses and Viruses \u200bSweeps Across the Globe<\/h2>\n<blockquote>\n<p>As the calendar turns to December, something viral\u200b must be seeping into the air.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<blockquote>\n<p>A second\u2062 U.S. state has identified a curious \u201coutbreak\u201d of pneumonia that specifically seems to be afflicting children.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<blockquote>\n<p>On Wednesday,\u200c Ohio became the\u200b first state to put out an announcement that \u200cpediatric pneumonia \u200ccases in the Buckeye State had officially hit critical mass.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<blockquote>\n<p>\u201cSince August, there \u200chave been 142 cases of pediatric pneumonia reported,\u201d the Warren County Health\u200d District said in a <a href=\"https:\/\/warrenchd.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/11\/WCHD-media-release-pneumonia-112923-004-1.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">news release<\/a>. \u201cNot only is \u200dthis \u200babove the county average, it also meets the Ohio Department of Health definition\u2063 of an outbreak.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<blockquote>\n<p>In and of itself, that would hardly be noteworthy.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<blockquote>\n<p>Children \u2064typically do get more frequently sick\u2063 as temperatures plummet\u2062 in December, and Ohio is inarguably chillier than, \u200bsay, Hawaii.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<blockquote>\n<p>What\u2019s a \u200blittle more noteworthy is that a similar spike in\u2064 pediatric pneumonia has cropped up in western Massachusetts, per <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernmassnews.com\/2023\/11\/29\/doctors-seeing-increase-walking-pneumonia-rsv-cases-kids\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">WGGB-TV<\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<blockquote>\n<p>A local doctor\u200b noted to the outlet that\u200d a surge in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/the-fda-just-authorized-an-at-home-test-for-covid-19-rsv-and-the-flu\/\" title=\"The FDA Just Authorized an At-Home Test for COVID-19, RSV and the Flu\">respiratory syncytial virus<\/a>, or RSV, was paving the\u2062 way for a spike in \u201cwalking pneumonia\u201d \u2062cases.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<blockquote>\n<p>(\u201cWalking pneumonia\u201d is non-medical term \u200dfor a lesser strain of the virus.)<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<blockquote>\n<p>\u201cSo, this\u200b is the season for \u2062RSV and\u2062 we\u2019re seeing a whole lot of \u2062it \u2026 \u200ca \u2062lot of kids \u2063with, you know, upper \u200dviral respiratory infections, cough, runny nose, some\u200b fevers and the thinking with RSV is \u200dthat it can \u200ccause lower viral respiratory infections, so they get spread\u200d to your lungs,\u201d Dr. John Kelley told\u200c WGGB.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<blockquote>\n<p>Kelley further explained that while RSV symptoms can be mild and typically go away in a matter of days, \u201cThere are no medications to give to cure. Once you have it, is\u200c all supportive care.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<blockquote>\n<p>According\u200b to Kelley, 80 percent of \u200dthe walking pneumonia cases in this\u2062 spike\u200d are a direct result of RSV, while the other 20 percent of the cases stem from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/77-year-old-woman-dies-small-cut-beach-leads-flesh-eating-bacterial-infection\/\" that has ravaged swaths of American dogs.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<blockquote>\n<p>Fourteen states have declared cases of\u2063 a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/couples-dog-survives-mysterious-illness-sweeping-us-say-strangers-suggestion-online-saved\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">mystery illness<\/a> afflicting dogs.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<blockquote>\n<p>And while dogs are obviously not children, there is one curious thing\u2062 linking these two together, apart from \u2064both being American\u2064 problems: The illnesses are \u200dgoing after lungs.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<blockquote>\n<p>Dozens of dogs are currently suffering from an inexplicable respiratory disease that has
