Gavin Newsom was a missed opportunity \u200dfor voters. For too long,\u200c party officials have controlled\u200b how candidates are presented and nominated. This debate could have been\u200c a game-changer, opening doors for third-party candidates and diverse formats. Unfortunately, it\u200d fell short for \u200deveryone involved.<\/p>\n<p>Kudos to Sean\u2062 Hannity for making it happen \u200cand to Newsom \u200dfor showing up, despite knowing the tilt towards DeSantis. Can\u2064 you imagine\u200d Vice President Kamala Harris in Newsom&#8217;s place? It could have been disastrous\u2064 for her career. The reality is, the White House would\u2064 never have allowed her\u200d to appear.<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s hard to criticize Hannity&#8217;s handling of the chaos. \u200bShort of cutting their mics off, \u2062there\u2064 wasn&#8217;t much he could do besides appealing to \u2062both men\u2062 to stop behaving like toddlers. \u2063However, \u2064Hannity deserves credit for giving DeSantis airtime and\u200c a unique venue.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Wearing the Hat vs. the Jersey<\/h2>\n<p>If you&#8217;re a sports fan, you \u2062know the difference between\u200c wearing a hat and wearing a jersey. A hat represents the team, while a jersey represents a specific player. In politics, pundits and early supporters \u2063wear jerseys,\u2062 while regular voters wear \u2064hats or switch jerseys after the primary. How you perceive this \u2064debate depends on whether you&#8217;re wearing a DeSantis \u2062jersey\u200c or a GOP hat.<\/p>\n<p>If you&#8217;re wearing\u2064 the\u200c DeSantis jersey, you believe he crushed Newsom with references\u2064 to the French Laundry \u200bincident\u2064 and his\u2064 kids attending in<a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/newsom-out-of-here-on-september-14-larry-elder\/\" title=\"Newsom \u2018Out Of Here\u2019 On September 14: Larry Elder\">-person private school<\/a>. You were thrilled when he\u200c pulled out\u2062 props to shame Newsom. \u200dIt\u2062 was a good event for DeSantis, even without\u2063 Nikki Haley&#8217;s\u200c one-liners.<\/p>\n<p>If you&#8217;re wearing the \u2063GOP\u200d hat, \u200byou might see it \u2064differently. You \u200bsaw a\u2064 candidate \u200breminiscent of Marco Rubio\u2064 in 2016, getting \u2063wrecked \u2062by \u2062Chris Christie. The repetitive \u2063talking points and stats in\u2062 the face of Newsom&#8217;s assault \u200ctroubled you. You\u200d saw missed opportunities that Trump or Haley\u2062 could have capitalized on without props.<\/p>\n<p>Some GOP hat-wearers \u200dquestioned DeSantis&#8217; ability\u2062 to think \u200bon\u2064 his\u2063 feet during\u200d the debate. They wondered if he has\u2063 what it takes to go\u2064 head-to-head with any opponent.<\/p>\n<p>Last night&#8217;s debate may not have changed much for\u2064 DeSantis,\u2064 but the perception varies \u200bbetween those wearing DeSantis jerseys and those wearing GOP hats. It \u2062was\u200b a wasted opportunity for\u200b much-needed change in the political process.<\/p>\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\">\n<\/div>\n<p> <\/p>\n<h2> \u2064What barriers do third-party candidates \u200bface \u200din gaining traction and visibility in our political system?<\/h2>\n<p><span>  Ace? It would have been an \u2064interesting dynamic, \u2063to say the least.\u200c But instead, we were left \u200dwith the same old two<a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/why-democrat-leadership-is-terrifying\/\" title=\"Why Democrat Leadership is Terrifying\">-party system<\/a> dominating the stage.<\/p>\n<p>One of the biggest losers in this debate was the voters. They were \u200cdenied the opportunity to\u200b hear voices outside of the Republican and Democratic parties. While DeSantis and Newsom \u2063may be talented politicians, there are surely others \u200dwith fresh perspectives and innovative solutions to\u200d the challenges facing our states.<\/p>\n<p>Third-party candidates often struggle to gain traction and visibility in our political system.\u2062 They face significant\u200d barriers that make it difficult \u2063to compete against the well-established party machines. Debates could provide a \u200cplatform for these candidates \u2063to share \u2064their ideas and reach a broader audience. However, this \u2064debate did nothing to challenge\u2062 the status\u200b quo.<\/p>\n<p>Furthermore, the format of\u200c the debate itself was disappointing. Too often,\u200d we are subjected to the \u200dsame <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/val-demings-announces-candidacy-for-florida-senate-race-against-marco-rubio\/\" title=\"Val Demings Announces Candidacy For Florida Senate Race Against Marco Rubio\">tired talking points<\/a> and rehearsed responses. Rather than a genuine exchange \u200bof ideas, we \u2064are treated to\u200d carefully crafted sound bites\u200c and scripted performances.\u200d Voters deserve better than this.<\/p>\n<p>Imagine a \u200cdebate \u2063that breaks the \u2063mold, where candidates are given the opportunity to\u2062 engage in substantive\u2062 conversations about the issues that matter\u2062 most to voters. A debate that encourages candidates to think on their feet and respond honestly and authentically. Such a debate could truly empower the voters, allowing them to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/oregon-governor-encourages-people-to-call-police-on-neighbors-violating-covid-orders\/\" title=\"Oregon Governor Encourages People To Call Police On Neighbors Violating COVID Orders\">make informed decisions based<\/a> on a variety \u2064of perspectives.<\/p>\n<p>It is time for a change. The current system \u2064is failing the voters, and it&#8217;s time to demand more. We need to \u2062advocate \u2063for greater inclusivity and\u2063 diversity in\u200c the political process. We need to break the stronghold of\u200b the two-party system and open the doors for third-party\u2064 and independent candidates.<\/p>\n<p>Debates should be platforms for exploration and discussion, not for \u200creinforcing the status quo. Voters deserve to hear a range of\u200b opinions\u200c and ideas, not just the ones that fit neatly into the traditional party platforms. It&#8217;s\u200c time to shake things\u2064 up and take back control of our\u200c political process.<\/p>\n<p>Let&#8217;s make the next debate a true reflection of\u2064 the diverse voices and perspectives within our society. Let&#8217;s demand more from our candidates\u200d and \u2064from our \u200bpolitical system. The biggest losers in this debate were the voters,\u2064 but we have the power to change\u2063 that.
