Rep.\u2062 Nicole Malliotakis, a \u2062Republican representing Staten Island and parts of Brooklyn, is ramping up pressure on Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer to take action.<\/p>\n<p>Malliotakis\u2062 will have a House \u2064floor vote on Thursday for her bill that aims to prevent the government from using taxpayer \u2063money to house illegal immigrants on federal land. However, Schumer stands as \u200da major\u2063 obstacle in getting the bill to the president&#8217;s desk.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>&#8220;We&#8217;ll see if Schumer brings it up for a vote in the Senate,&#8221; Malliotakis said.\u2063 &#8220;For someone who advocates for \u2062democracy, he \u200bnever \u200dlets it take place.&#8221;<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>This is a common complaint among House \u2063Republicans, who often see\u2064 their legislation ignored in the Democratic-led Senate. Malliotakis\u2063 believes \u2063that the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/lady-gagas-dad-furious-as-unruly-illegals-take-over-his-neighborhood-just-enabling-em\/\" title=\"Lady Gaga's dad angry as unruly immigrants dominate his area: 'Just enabling them'\">growing illegal immigrant crisis<\/a> in New York should compel Schumer to act, especially since he has refused to consider other House Republican bills related to \u200dthe\u200d border crisis.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>&#8220;I fear &#8230; \u200dthat may\u200c be the fate of my bill, but we&#8217;re going to continue to hold him accountable \u200dbecause he&#8217;s\u200b from Brooklyn. He&#8217;s from the city where\u2062 the mayor is \u200bsaying,\u200b &#8216;This \u200cis destroying New York City and will bankrupt it,'&#8221; Malliotakis said. &#8220;Sen. Schumer will\u2064 do nothing to address [it]. He \u2063won&#8217;t even acknowledge we have a crisis \u2014 and so holding him accountable in\u2063 his own\u2064 borough of Brooklyn if \u2062he doesn&#8217;t let this bill come to the floor for a vote.&#8221;<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Since 2021, over\u2062 200,000 immigrants from the southern border have sought\u2062 assistance in New\u200d York City, including shelter, food, clothing, and work. Many have been transported from Texas as part of \u200cGov. Greg Abbott&#8217;s\u200b effort to bring attention \u2063to the\u2063 border crisis in blue cities.<\/p>\n<p>In August, the \u2063Biden administration blamed\u2064 Democratic leaders in New York for the lack of assistance \u2062in dealing\u2064 with the immigrant crisis, despite receiving \u2063$100 million in aid from Congress. Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas sent letters to Gov. Kathy\u2063 Hochul and \u200dNew York City Mayor\u200d Eric Adams, responding to their demands for more\u200c federal help.<\/p>\n<p>Malliotakis has been working with \u200blocal lawmakers to prevent Brooklyn national parkland from being used as an emergency\u200d shelter for \u200billegal immigrants. Her House bill aims \u200dto block federal lands \u200bfrom becoming shelter sites for illegal immigrants.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>&#8220;My parents are immigrants, my constituents. I have\u2062 immigrant populations\u2062 from all over the world in my district. And I will tell you that they are equally upset by seeing how individuals who have come through our southern border the wrong way are now being rewarded with \u2062free housing and services that they never received and even as \u200ccitizens don&#8217;t receive \u200bnow,&#8221; Malliotakis said.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>The House Rules\u200c Committee has advanced Malliotakis&#8217; bill, despite strong opposition from \u2063the White House. Schumer&#8217;s office has not responded to requests\u2062 for comment.<\/p>\n<p> <\/p>\n<h2> What are Malliotakis&#8217; proposed solutions for addressing the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/house-republicans-accuse-biden-of-playing-political-game-over-border-crisis\/\" title=\"House Republicans Accuse Biden of Playing \u2018Political Game\u2019 Over Border Crisis\">illegal immigration crisis<\/a> in a balanced and comprehensive manner<\/h2>\n<p><span>  Y bill will be just another one that \u2061goes \u2060ignored\u2062 by the Senate,&#8221; Malliotakis \u2066said. &#8220;But\u200c I will \u200ccontinue to \u2062fight\u2063 for the interests of my constituents and push for\u200c \u2062common-sense \u2026solutions\u200c to the\u2063 \u200cillegal immigration crisis.&#8221;<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>The \u2064city of New York has seen a significant increase in illegal immigration in recent years, with many undocumented immigrants finding their way \u200a\u200dto\u2063 the\u200b Big Apple in search of \u2062better opportunities. This has put a strain on the city&#8217;s resources and \u2067services, \u2062as well as \u200craised concerns about public safety\u200b and national security.<\/p>\n<p>Malliotakis\u2063 argues that it\u2063 is the federal \u2063government&#8217;s responsibility to address this crisis and protect the\u2062 interests of American \u2064citizens. However, she believes\u200d that Schumer and other Democratic leaders have been more focused on political posturing and obstructing Republican-led initiatives\u2063 rather than finding \u200breal solutions.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We have a crisis at our doorstep, and yet the Senate Majority Leader refuses to act,&#8221; Malliotakis \u2063said. &#8220;This is a slap in the\u200d face to the hardworking taxpayers\u2064 of \u2063New York.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>In addition to\u200c her bill, Malliotakis has been vocal about the need for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/biden-admin-revives-catch-and-release-to-avoid-housing-illegal-immigrants-amid-border-surge\/\" title=\"Biden Admin Revives \u2018Catch-And-Release\u2019 To Avoid Housing Illegal Immigrants Amid Border Surge\">comprehensive immigration reform<\/a> that addresses \u200cboth border security and a\u2063 path to legal status for undocumented immigrants. She believes that a balanced approach\u200c is necessary in\u2063 order to effectively address the \u200cissue.<\/p>\n<p>While Malliotakis faces an uphill\u200b battle in getting her \u2062bill passed in the Senate, she remains determined to fight \u2063for her constituents and hold Schumer accountable \u200cfor his\u200c inaction. She is urging New Yorkers to contact their\u2062 senators and demand action on \u200bthe illegal\u200d immigration \u2062crisis.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>&#8220;We cannot continue\u2063 to ignore this issue,&#8221; Malliotakis emphasized. &#8220;It&#8217;s time for Schumer to\u2062 do his \u200cjob and put the interests of the American people first.&#8221;<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>As the debate on immigration continues, it remains \u200dto be seen whether Schumer and the Senate will take action to address the illegal immigration \u2064crisis in New \u2063York City.
