The progressive Democrat\u2063 from New York has never been known \u2063as the\u2063 brightest bulb in Congress, but her previous ignorant squawkings generally had the benefit of being irrelevant.<\/p>\n

With a full shooting war raging in the Middle East, though, matters of life and death are arising, and Ocasio-Cortez\u200b is on \u2064the wrong side \u2014 and \u2064observers are letting \u2063her know it.<\/p>\n

During a virtual town \u2063hall\u2064 Monday, Ocasio-Cortez dealt \u200cwith a participant who suggested the United States \u201cjust defund \u2063Israel\u2064 and \u2062send\u2062 funding and \u2063aid to Gaza.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019re funding a genocide,\u200d and \u200cI\u2019m not OK with that,\u201d the man said.<\/p>\n

Not surprisingly, AOC \u200dagreed.<\/strong><\/p>\n

It\u2019s truly regrettable that those deaths involve civilians, but no one with a shred of \u2062intellectual honesty can blame Israel for\u200b that.<\/p>\n
The terrorist group Hamas pulled off a doozy of a \u201cgross human rights violation\u201d on Oct. 7 when it \u200blaunched a surprise attack against Israeli civilians that resulted \u2062in the deaths of\u2064 an \u200cestimated \u20631,200 people, \u200dmany \u2064of them young\u200d adults whose lives were destroyed in a bloody pogrom<\/a> \u200c near the \u2063end of an all-night \u2064rave. (None of\u2062 those victims \u2062could have known at 1\u200d a.m. that they were \u2063enjoying \u2063their last night on earth. It\u2019s sobering to think about.)<\/p>\n
Since AOC\u200c is rarely accused of \u200dintellectual honesty to any degree, she never mentions that.<\/p>\n
Instead, she pulls up statistics that are supposed to make her \u2064point \u2063but\u2063 actually damn it.<\/p>\n
The congresswoman\u2064 claimed\u2064 during the town hall<\/a> that \u2063\u201cover 14,000 to 15,000 Palestinians have been killed in\u200d just about \u2063seven weeks.\u201d<\/p>\n
But the\u200c number of Hamas fighters killed, she said, was \u200bbetween 1,000 and 2,000.<\/p>\n

But it was Ocasio-Cortez\u2019s comments about funding\u200c that really drew scorn from observers. The\u200b United States, under the\u200d Biden administration especially, has been a generous \u200dfunder of aid to Palestinian groups in the \u200bWest Bank and Gaza.\u200c According to a 2022 news release<\/a> from the \u200cU.S. Agency \u2064for International \u200bDevelopment, \u200din \u200dfact, aid to Palestinians increased from $50 million in 2020 and 2021 to $219 million\u2062 in 2022.<\/p>\n
And that\u2019s over and above \u2062money the Palestinians get from the largely \u200bU.S.-funded\u2062 United Nations \u2064Relief and\u2064 Works \u200dAgency, which is devoted exclusively to Palestinian \u201crefugees.<\/a>\u201d<\/p>\n
It\u2019s common knowledge\u2064 that\u2064 Hamas and other Palestinian terrorists are diverting \u201chumanitarian\u201d aid<\/a> \u200cto military purposes \u200cand have been doing it for years<\/a>. (Think they built that tunnel complex \u200cwith toy\u2064 shovels?)<\/p>\n
And that doesn\u2019t\u2062 even take into account the money the Biden administration has made\u200c available \u2063to the mullahs in \u2064Iran, Hamas\u2019 unapologetic sponsors<\/a>, through a waiver<\/a> \u2063 that supposedly only allows it to be\u2063 used for \u201chumanitarian\u201d\u200b purposes.<\/p>\n
As everyone \u2063but Joe Biden and \u200bhis State Department\u200b seems to know, money is fungible. What \u200bisn\u2019t used for\u2064 \u201chumanitarian\u201d purposes just\u2062 might be put\u200b to work by crazed Islamist murderers in finding more ways\u2063 to commit crazed murders in the \u2063name of Islam.<\/p>\n
AOC had nothing to \u200bsay on\u200b that score, but social media\u2063 users did.<\/p>\n
