God limits\u200d their power. The\u200b solution? \u200dGet rid of\u200b Christians. How? Go after the children.<\/p>\n<p>In a bold move \u200bto \u2064cement radical left ideology \u200binto the mainstream,\u2064 the Biden administration is attempting to institute a \u2064new rule that would effectively ban Christians from becoming foster parents.<\/p>\n<p>The Department of Health and Human Services\u2019 \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.federalregister.gov\/documents\/2023\/09\/28\/2023-21274\/safe-and-appropriate-foster-care-placement-requirements-for-titles-iv-e-and-iv-b\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Safe and Appropriate Foster Care Placement Requirements<\/a>\u201d\u200b seek to ensure that foster parents and\u200b families use \u2062a \u2064foster \u200bchild\u2019s \u201cidentified pronouns, chosen name, \u200cand allow the child\u2063 to dress in an age-appropriate manner that the child believes reflects their self<a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/the-biden-administration-is-scheming-to-take-your-kids-away\/\" title=\"Biden Administration plots child separation\">-identified gender identity<\/a> and expression.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>What the proposal doesn\u2019t \u200dsay is that any faithful <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/op-ed-countercultural-christian-family-sitting-pews-isnt-enough\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Christian family<\/a> could not in \u200bgood conscience follow the rules, \u2063so faithful \u2062Christians would be denied the opportunity to help kids in need of foster homes.<\/p>\n<p>It also doesn\u2019t say the requirement\u2062 would effectively \u200dgut\u2064 the foster care\u200d system because \u200dit relies on people of faith to provide for children in need.<\/p>\n<p>Now 19\u2064 Republican\u200c attorneys\u200b general \u200care demanding the Biden\u2062 administration \u200dchange course from their radical ideological plan to exclude Christians from the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/massachusetts-denies-catholic-couple-right-foster-kids-faith-not-supportive-lgbt-beliefs-lawsuit\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">foster care<\/a> \u2064program.<\/p>\n<p>Alabama Attorney General Steve Marshall sent a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.alabamaag.gov\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/11\/2023.11.27-Foster-Care-Comment-FINAL.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">letter<\/a> to HHS on Monday advising that the proposal \u201cviolates the \u2064Constitution and discriminates against people who\u200c practice the Christian faith.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The letter, co-signed by 18 other GOP\u200c state attorneys general, was addressed to Aysha Schomburg, associate commissioner in \u2062the Children\u2019s Bureau, part\u2063 of the Administration on Children, Youth and Families \u200din the \u200cDepartment of \u2063Health and Human Services.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<h3>\u201cThe proposed rule infringes on the freedom of religion and the freedom of speech, fundamental rights preserved by the First Amendment,\u201d<\/h3>\n<p>the letter says. \u201cThe Supreme Court has repeatedly rejected \u200dattempts by the \u200cgovernment\u2062 to exclude \u2063foster care\u200b providers based on religious \u2062beliefs or to mandate speech on private actors.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe proposed rule also will harm children, harm families, and harm States, all to advance an ideology. HHS should reject the proposed\u200d rule.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>In \u2064its\u2063 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.federalregister.gov\/documents\/2023\/09\/28\/2023-21274\/safe-and-appropriate-foster-care-placement-requirements-for-titles-iv-e-and-iv-b\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">summary<\/a>,\u2063 the \u2063proposed new rule says, \u201cFederal law also requires that for children \u2064ages 14 and over, agencies must consult with them about their case plans.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>This amounts to asking teenagers \u2062who are not old \u2064enough\u200c to drive a car, vote or buy alcohol to make choices about their bodies\u2064 based on hormone-induced emotions. It\u2019s a recipe for confusion that\u200d necessarily leads to\u200c tragedy.<\/p>\n<p>Agencies,\u2062 according to the summary, will \u201creview requirements for children in foster care who identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/fact-check-transgender-people-face-epidemic-violence\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">transgender<\/a>, queer or questioning, intersex,\u200b as well as\u2063 children who are non-binary, or have non-conforming gender\u2063 identity \u2064or expression (all of whom are referred to under the umbrella term LGBTQI+ for purposes of this regulation).\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In other\u2062 words, foster families \u2014 instead of instilling values \u2014 will be mandated to allow \u2064foster children to make up their own values by choosing an identity based not\u2062 on fact but feeling. If\u200c a potential foster child said, \u201cI feel like a cat,\u201d would the foster parent be obligated to go out and buy a litter box?<\/p>\n<p>The letter sent to HHS \u200cmade it clear that states \u201cneed <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/equality-act-poses-dangers-to-americans-of-faith-sen-lankford-warns\/\" title=\"Equality Act Poses Dangers To Americans Of Faith, Sen. Lankford Warns\">faith-based organizations<\/a> in their <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/white-house-releases-list-of-president-trumps-accomplishments-and-it-is-historic\/\" title=\"White House Releases List of President Trump\u2019s Accomplishments \u2013  And It Is Historic!\">foster care system<\/a>. The proposed rule will drive individuals and organizations of\u2064 faith away, which will \u200cincrease the strain\u200d on the system by reducing the\u200b number of available foster homes. The \u2063 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/nations-largest-christian-university-says-unjustly-targeted-federal-government\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">federal\u200c government<\/a> should be searching for \u2064ways to increase the number of foster homes, not decrease\u2064 them.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>To drive the point home, the letter also said the number of children\u2064 in the foster care system \u2014 according to HHS numbers \u2014 will increase to about 416,500 by 2027. In 2022, there were about 391,000 children\u200c in foster care, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/politics\/gop-ags-blast-biden-admin-foster-care-plan-they-say-would-effectively-ban-christians\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Fox News<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Yes, more foster homes are needed. But when the\u2064 federal\u2063 government \u2064is controlled by mad-dog progressive ideologues, it isn\u2019t at all concerned with children\u200d in need of help. The foster care system depends on individuals and organizations of faith.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In Arkansas,\u2062 for example, a single\u200b faith-based group recruited almost half of the foster homes in the state, \u200cthe attorneys \u200bgeneral \u200dcontend. In another example, every private placement agency is Christian\u200d in New Mexico.<\/p>\n<p>Marshall\u2064 went so far as to accuse the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/poll-america-ag  <\/p>\n<h2> How\u2062 does the proposed \u200brule regarding foster care placement potentially\u200c impact children from religious backgrounds?<\/h2>\n<p><span>  E focused on making it\u2064 easier for children to find stable and loving homes, not on pushing \u200ca specific ideological agenda.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The letter also points out that \u200cthe proposed rule ignores the fact that many \u2062children in the foster care system come from religious backgrounds and would benefit from being placed in \u200dhomes that share their faith and values.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cInstead of\u200d ensuring that \u200dfaith-based families can continue to make a profound difference in the lives of children in foster care, the \u200dproposed rule would force those families to deny their \u2063deeply-held religious beliefs or\u2062 be disqualified from providing\u200c homes for children in need,\u201d the letter states.<\/p>\n<p>It is clear \u200dthat the\u200b Biden administration&#8217;s plan \u200dto effectively ban Christians from fostering children is not only a\u200d violation of religious freedom but also a detriment to the foster care system as \u2064a whole. By excluding families of faith, the government is limiting the number of potential foster homes and denying children the opportunity to be placed in loving and supportive environments that align\u2063 with their religious \u2062beliefs.<\/p>\n<p>The 19 Republican attorneys general are calling on the Biden \u2063administration to reconsider this\u2062 divisive\u200b and discriminatory policy and\u200d instead focus on ensuring \u200cthat all children in the foster care system have the opportunity to find stable and loving homes.<\/p>\n<p>In \u200da time when the foster care system is already strained and many children \u2063are in desperate need of safe and nurturing environments, it is crucial that the government works to support and include all qualified families, regardless of their \u2063religious beliefs.<\/p>\n<p>Excluding Christians from fostering children based on their faith not only goes against the principles of religious liberty and equality, but it also denies vulnerable children the chance to be placed in\u2064 homes that share their values and provide the support they need to thrive.<\/p>\n<p>It is our hope that the Biden administration will listen to\u2062 the concerns raised by these attorneys general and reconsider their plan to effectively ban Christians from foster care.
