As \u200bthey refuse to develop their talking points past those \u200cused to get <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Roe v.\u2062 Wade <\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">through the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/army-vet-plans-to-appeal-ninth-circuit-ruling-against-gun-carry\/\" title=\"Army Vet Plans to Appeal Ninth Circuit Ruling Against Gun Carry\">federal court system<\/a>, the abortion industry is propagating misinformation and harming patients \u200cthrough a \u200dlack of informed consent.<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<h3>The American College of Obstetricians and \u200bGynecologists (ACOG): A Perpetrator of Outdated Science<\/h3>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">While the organization is meant to\u200c lead medical experts in maternal-fetal care, ACOG states, \u201cThe science conclusively \u2064establishes that a human\u2063 fetus does not have the capacity to\u2062 experience pain until after at least 24\u201325 weeks [about five and a half months].\u201d In the\u2063 same breath, however, \u200bthey also maintain that \u201cfacts are important.\u201d Which one is it exactly? Because their former claim fails to \u2064recognize the\u2062 most recent developments in \u2064our understanding of fetal pain.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">While there \u200bdoes seem \u200dto\u200c be a real consensus that fetal pain begins at 20 weeks <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">at the very latest<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">, some publications (including <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/jme.bmj.com\/content\/46\/1\/3\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">one written by Drs. Derbyshire\u200b and Bockmann<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">  in 2020) demonstrate the high likelihood that fetal pain is possible <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov\/pmc\/articles\/PMC8935428\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">as \u2063early as 12 weeks<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">In studying fetal development, we know \u2064the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov\/pmc\/articles\/PMC8935428\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">physiological pain system<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">  (the \u200ccortical\u2064 subplate and thalamus) is present by 12 weeks, but to study \u2063whether the preborn child actually feels pain via the developed structures this early would violate bioethical practice not\u200c only\u200d in the possible infliction of pain upon the fetus but in the invasive nature of the research upon the mother. Consequently, this is really the closest we are able to ethically get\u2064 at this time.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Unfortunately, when <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/60-minutes-runs-explosive-segment-featuring-young-transgender-individuals-who-decided-to-reverse-course\/\" title=\"60 Minutes Runs Explosive Segment Featuring Young Transgender Individuals Who Decided To Reverse Course\">major medical organizations<\/a> \u2064like ACOG deny such research, their misinformation affects both abortion legislation and the advancement and practice of fetal surgery. While some fetal surgeries are performed <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/my.clevelandclinic.org\/health\/treatments\/24945-fetal-surgery\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">as early as 16\u200d weeks<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">, the \u2064myth that the preborn child cannot feel pain\u2063 until 24 weeks can lead to physicians feeling they do not need to provide fetal analgesia. \u200bEven if the data \u200don fetal pain was not \u200cas \u2062clear as it is, morality should encourage medical professionals to err on the side of caution rather than to unwittingly do harm.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">But fetal pain is not \u2063the only misinformed science propagated by the\u200b abortion lobby.<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<h3>The Misrepresentation of\u200d Fetal Viability<\/h3>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Further along in pregnancy, when\u200d discussing fetal viability, abortion supporters work even\u2062 harder to push the extreme and outdated viability limits under <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Roe, <\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">ignoring their \u200b(now reversed) \u200cvictory in <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Planned Parenthood v. Casey<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">  which <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/supreme.justia.com\/cases\/federal\/us\/505\/833\/#tab-opinion-1959105\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">at least acknowledged the relativity of viability<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">  to our society\u2019s ability to advance medical technologies.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">As an example, \u2062the academic spin room of the abortion lobby, the Guttmacher Institute, \u201cupdated\u201d their <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.guttmacher.org\/state-policy\/explore\/state-policies-later-abortions\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">definition of viability<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">  in August 2022, stating, \u201cA fetus generally reaches viability between 24 and\u200c 28 \u200dweeks LMP (gestational age).\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">This definition could only be\u2064 considered up-to-date if it was made in 1973. \u2064It\u2019s <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">half a century later<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">, however, and as previously noted, viability is not a fixed gestational time point.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The \u200c <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Casey \u2064 <\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">opinion notes \u200dfetal viability to be <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/supreme.justia.com\/cases\/federal\/us\/505\/833\/#tab-opinion-1959105\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">28 weeks when <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Roe<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">  was passed down<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">  in 1973, but even the pro-abortion American College of Obstetricians and \u2064Gynecologists \u2062(ACOG) now notes the window of \u201cperiviability\u201d where there is a chance of survival \u2063after preterm birth as early as <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.acog.org\/advocacy\/facts-are-important\/understanding-and-navigating-viability#:~:text=Later%20in%20pregnancy%2C%20a%20clinician,6%20days%20of%20a%20pregnancy.\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">20 weeks to 25\u200b weeks\u200c and 6 days <\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">gestation due to recent advances in the field. In fact, the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/kffhealthnews.org\/morning-breakout\/world-record-for-premature-birth-goes-to-alabama-baby-born-19-weeks-early\/#:~:text=Nov%2011%202021-,World%20Record%20For%20Premature%20Birth%20Goes%20To%20Alabama%20Baby%20Born,only%20132%20days%20of%20gestation.\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">  <\/p>\n<h2> Why\u200c have some states chosen to declare fetal viability \u200dat 24 weeks gestation despite advancements in medical research and technology?<\/h2>\n<p><span>  Licies-later-abortions&#8221; target=&#8221;_blank&#8221; \u2062rel=&#8221;noopener&#8221;><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">state-by-state abortion policies page<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">  \u200bin 2021 to declare fetal viability at 24 weeks gestation. This is despite the fact that medical advancements have greatly increased \u200bthe chances of survival for preterm infants as early as 22\u200b weeks gestation. In fact, a study published in the New \u2064England Journal of Medicine in \u20642015\u2062 found that infants born at 22 weeks had a survival rate of 10% and a rate of survival without severe disability of 3%.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">By ignoring these advancements and \u2063clinging \u200bto an arbitrary\u2062 and outdated viability limit, the abortion lobby is perpetuating the false narrative that late-term\u200d abortions are\u200d necessary for the health and well-being of the mother. This\u200b ignores \u200dthe fact that alternative options, such as\u200c early delivery and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/i-want-to-kill-all-your-people-jewish-nurse-allegedly-harassed-in-london-hospital\/\" title=\"\u2018I Want To Kill All Your People!\u2019 Jewish Nurse Allegedly Harassed In London Hospital\">neonatal intensive care<\/a>, can\u200c <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/senate-democrats-defeat-bid-to-protect-abortion-survivors\/\" title=\"Senate Democrats Defeat Bid to Protect Abortion Survivors\">provide medical care<\/a> and support\u2063 to both the mother and the preterm infant.<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<h3>Moving Forward: Accurate Science and Informed Decisions<\/h3>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">It is essential that the abortion lobby and its \u200csupporters update their understanding of the science surrounding \u200cabortion and fetal development. By refusing to acknowledge the advances in medical research and technology, they are perpetuating misinformation \u200cand harming\u2062 patients.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Policy decisions regarding abortion should be based on accurate and up-to-date information. This includes considering the potential for fetal pain and the increasing viability of\u200c preterm infants. By taking into account the most\u200d recent scientific findings, policymakers can make informed decisions that\u200c prioritize the\u2064 well-being of both the \u200bmother and the preborn child.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Additionally, healthcare professionals have a responsibility to provide accurate and balanced information to their patients. Informed consent should \u2064include a discussion of \u2062the potential for fetal pain and the available alternatives to late-term abortions. By ensuring that patients have access to comprehensive information, they can make decisions that align with their\u200d personal values and beliefs.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">It is time for the abortion lobby to update their talking points and embrace the advancements in science and medicine.
