Ralph\u2063 Norman (R-SC), a \u2064supporter of Haley, revealed that the fire\u200b marshal had \u2064to limit the \u2064venue&#8217;s capacity, \u2063leaving several supporters to watch the event on screens \u2062outside.<\/p>\n<p>The rally\u2062 drew an impressive crowd of 2,500 people, surpassing the 2,000 attendees at\u200b Haley&#8217;s campaign launch nine \u2062months ago,\u200d as reported by the Post \u2063and Courier.<\/p>\n<p>While Haley&#8217;s popularity appears to be growing in her home state and elsewhere, Trump still maintains a\u200d significant lead\u2063 over other candidates in the primary\u2063 race. Recent\u200c polling from South Carolina&#8217;s Winthrop University indicates that 52% of registered Republican voters in the state \u2063continue to support\u2063 Trump for the nomination, \u2063with three \u200dmonths remaining until the primary.<\/p>\n<p>Haley&#8217;s support in South Carolina, although higher than her \u2062national \u2062numbers and those of\u2062 Gov. She has capitalized on \u2064this momentum by\u200d delivering\u2062 strong performances in subsequent debates.<\/p>\n<p>Haley has also \u2062benefited from the \u2063fact that Trump&#8217;s main target \u200camong \u200dRepublican candidates is Gov. DeSantis. \u200cAs Trump&#8217;s campaign and super PAC continue to criticize DeSantis, Haley has been able \u2062to present her case to voters without facing similar negative attention.<\/p>\n<p>Importantly, Haley has \u200drefrained \u2062from denouncing \u200dthe former president, \u2063stating,\u200c &#8220;I believe President Trump was the right president\u200b at the right time.\u200c I was proud to serve \u2062America in his administration, and \u200dI agree with a lot of his policies.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>However, Haley&#8217;s argument to voters is \u2064that &#8220;chaos\u200c follows him,&#8221; emphasizing that the country \u2064cannot \u2063afford\u200b to be engulfed in chaos once \u200bagain.<\/p>\n<p>Haley&#8217;s polling numbers\u200d are particularly strong in New Hampshire, where she \u2064currently holds the second position behind Trump, who still maintains a commanding\u200d lead.<\/p>\n<p>Gov. Chris \u2062Sununu \u200c(R-NH), who \u2062has yet\u200c to endorse a candidate in the\u200d Republican \u2062primary,\u2064 believes\u2062 that Haley is well-positioned for a potential victory in South Carolina&#8217;s late February\u2062 primary. Sununu \u2063stated that if Haley performs \u2064strongly \u2063in Iowa,\u200b followed by a win in New Hampshire, it \u2064would provide her with significant momentum heading into South Carolina.<\/p>\n<p>University of South Carolina political scientist David Darmofal echoed Sununu&#8217;s sentiments, explaining that the hope\u200d for both DeSantis and\u2063 Haley is to perform well\u200b in Iowa \u2064or \u200dNew Hampshire\u200d and leverage that success to gain momentum in subsequent contests, including South Carolina.<\/p>\n<p>However, Darmofal\u200c noted that Trump still\u200b maintains substantial leads in\u2063 the first two states, making it less\u200d likely for his\u200b polling advantage to decline compared to a \u2064lesser-known front-runner.<\/p>\n<p>Republican strategist\u2063 John Feehery believes \u200cthat Haley&#8217;s best\u200d chance in the nominating contests \u2063is to\u2063 focus on targeting\u2062 DeSantis.\u200b Feehery stated, &#8220;If\u200c she could eliminate him\u200d in South Carolina, then she \u2062could be the last one standing\u2062 against Trump in\u2063 other \u200dstates.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>However,\u200c this may \u2064prove \u2064challenging\u200b as DeSantis \u2062is heavily investing his political resources in Iowa, even opening\u2062 two campaign headquarters in the state.<\/p>\n<p>In the\u200c most recent Des Moines Register-NBC \u2062News-Mediacom Iowa\u2063 poll \u200cfrom October, \u200bTrump maintained \u200bhis lead\u200b among\u200b Republican candidates, while DeSantis and Haley were\u200d tied for second place.
