It&#8217;s about trying to destroy the court now that the left no longer controls it. Democrats&#8217; criticism of the court&#8217;s recently issued Code of Ethics, which every justice on the court signed, proves this point again. The \u2064left&#8217;s go-to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/lefty-professor-demanding-justice-thomas-recuse-over-wifes-texts-accidentally-explains-why-he-shouldnt\/\" title=\"Lefty Professor Demanding Justice Thomas Recuse Over Wife\u2019s Texts Accidentally Explains Why He Shouldn\u2019t\">judicial ethics expert<\/a>, Professor Stephen Gillers, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/politics\/2023\/11\/13\/supreme-court-ethics-code\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">opined<\/a> that the code is a &#8220;commendable piece of work.&#8221;<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<h3>Unfounded Criticism of the Code<\/h3>\n<p>But that&#8217;s not good enough for the two Democrats leading the partisan and\u2063 unprecedented investigation into the court, Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Dick Durbin and Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse. Both \u200bsenators issued comments critical of the court&#8217;s new code, including that it does not have an outside enforcement mechanism to oversee the justices&#8217; compliance. But\u2064 the Supreme Court\u2063 is a separate branch specifically established in the Constitution, and it would be unconstitutional\u200c for anybody to oversee the justices&#8217;\u2064 decision-making.<\/p>\n<div class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-paragraph-2-long d-flex justify-content-center\" style=\"margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center; \" id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-1321057488\">\n<div id=\"div-gpt-ad-1379703300879-0\" class=\"mb-30\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-2028f21587d3afbc602a3fdda4e5b94f fdrlst__b89e9-paragraph-2\" id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-2028f21587d3afbc602a3fdda4e5b94f\"><\/div>\n<h3>Double Standards and \u200dUnethical Actions<\/h3>\n<p>Despite Justices Thomas and\u200b Alito acting honorably \u2064and ethically, Durbin has issued a notice for\u2064 a meeting this Thursday for the Senate Judiciary Committee to consider sending subpoenas to friends of\u2064 these justices for information on their friendships. These subpoenas would be constitutionally defective as they are not in \u2063support of any legislative purpose.<\/p>\n<p>But\u200b what\u2064 is more astonishing is how these \u2062Democrats attack \u2064the\u200c court for\u2063 so-called &#8220;ethical&#8221; transgressions, when both\u2063 senators themselves have \u2062taken unethical\u200b official actions to benefit their spouses&#8217; clients.<\/p>\n<p>In 2014, the Chicago \u2062Tribune <a href=\"https:\/\/www.chicagotribune.com\/news\/ct-durbin-wife-lobbyist-20141004-story.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">reported<\/a> \u200c that Sen. Durbin \u2063personally directed an appropriation earmark of $150,000 to \u2062one of his wife&#8217;s clients, the American Lung Association. The Tribune details many other grant awards to clients of his wife, a lobbyist, that Durbin announced\u200b and\u200b took credit for.<\/p>\n<p>Another client, the City of Naperville, \u2064&#8221;got plenty \u2063of federal funding\u200b during the time Loretta \u2063Durbin was its state lobbyist,&#8221; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.chicagotribune.com\/news\/ct-durbin-wife-lobbyist-20141004-story.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">according<\/a> to the Tribune story. Robert \u200cMarshall, \u2063Naperville&#8217;s police chief\u2063 and later acting city manager who sat\u200d on the city board that selected Mrs. Durbin&#8217;s \u200blobbying firm, said &#8220;I looked\u200b at it as an advantage&#8221; in hiring \u200bher firm to \u2062represent the city.<\/p>\n<div class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-0fdf5e9ed7551beaadb99a9f4a03f018 fdrlst__b89e9-paragraph-6\" id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-0fdf5e9ed7551beaadb99a9f4a03f018\"><\/div>\n<p>In his interview with the Tribune, Sen. Durbin <a href=\"https:\/\/www.chicagotribune.com\/news\/ct-durbin-wife-lobbyist-20141004-story.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">produced<\/a> a letter from the Senate Ethics Committee which advised Durbin that whether his wife lobbied the Senate would be &#8220;left to the ultimate discretion of\u2064 the Senator and his or her spouse.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Whitehouse has repeatedly taken official action benefitting\u200c the interests of many of his \u200dwife&#8217;s employers. \u2063For example, Whitehouse <a href=\"https:\/\/freebeacon.com\/democrats\/senator-sheldon-whitehouse-wife\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">introduced<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.coons.senate.gov\/imo\/media\/doc\/federal_carbon_dioxide_removal_leadership_act_bill_text.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">legislation<\/a> in 2022 \u2063that\u200c would require the federal government to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/john-kerry-implies-net-zero-emissions-goal-not-good-enough-says-we-need-to-get-carbon-dioxide-out-of-the-atmosphere\/\" title=\"John Kerry Implies Net-Zero Emissions Goal Not Good Enough, Says We Need To \u2018Get Carbon Dioxide Out Of The Atmosphere\u2019\">remove carbon dioxide<\/a> \u200dfrom\u200b the environment, \u2064including the ocean, by entering into\u2064 contracts with companies that have carbon removal technology.<\/p>\n<p>It is clear that Durbin and Whitehouse have engaged in\u2064 actions that would\u2064 have been unlawful under federal recusal laws governing the executive branch and \u2062the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/white-house-releases-list-of-president-trumps-accomplishments-and-it-is-historic\/\" title=\"White House Releases List of President Trump\u2019s Accomplishments \u2013  And It Is Historic!\">federal judiciary<\/a>. However, Congress has refused to enact legislation to cover their own conflicts of interest.<\/p>\n<div class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-c94dd9a0668eed221c295ffdfbe64089 fdrlst__b89e9-after-post-content\" id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-c94dd9a0668eed221c295ffdfbe64089\"><\/div>\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\">\n<\/div>\n<p> <\/p>\n<h2> How\u200c can the American people hold politicians accountable for their partisan agenda and actions against the Supreme\u200d Court&#8217;s independence \u200cand integrity<\/h2>\n<p><span>  Bin-wife-lobbyist-20141004-story.html&#8221; target=&#8221;_blank&#8221; rel=&#8221;noreferrer\u2064 noopener&#8221;>according to the Tribune<\/a>. This is \u200ca \u200dclear conflict of interest and\u2063 a\u200d violation of \u2062ethical standards.<\/p>\n<p>Similarly, Sen. Whitehouse has faced criticism for his wife&#8217;s involvement in\u2063 the controversial\u2064 Rhode Island\u200c public pension case. As\u2063 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nationalreview.com\/2021\/10\/on-the-settlement-in-the-ri-public-pension-case\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">reported by \u200bNational Review<\/a>, his wife represented the defendants in the case and stood to\u2062 benefit financially from \u2064a settlement favorable \u200bto her clients. This raises serious questions \u2062about the senator&#8217;s impartiality and integrity.<\/p>\n<h3>A Partisan Agenda<\/h3>\n<p>It is clear that the Democrats&#8217; attack on\u200b the Supreme Court is driven by a partisan agenda. They\u2062 are attempting to undermine the legitimacy \u200dof the court and intimidate conservative justices through baseless investigations and unfounded criticism.<\/p>\n<p>Their\u2064 criticism of the court&#8217;s code\u2063 of ethics is hypocritical, considering their own unethical actions and conflicts of interest. It is evident that \u200dthey are not interested in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/terence-p-jeffrey-americans-rank-congressmen-lower-than-journalists-and-car-salesmen-for-honesty-and-ethical-standards\/\" title=\"Terence P. Jeffrey: Americans Rank Congressmen Lower Than Journalists and Car Salesmen for Honesty and Ethical Standards\">upholding ethical standards<\/a>, but rather in advancing their own political\u2063 agenda and regaining control over the \u2062court.<\/p>\n<p>The Supreme Court is an\u2062 independent and \u2064coequal branch\u200c of the government. It should be free\u2064 from political interference and\u200c attacks from \u2062<a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/trump-attorneys-condemn-impeachment-trial-citing-free-speech-protections-lack-of-due-process\/\" title=\"Trump attorneys condemn impeachment trial citing free speech protections, lack of due process\">partisan politicians<\/a>.\u200c The Democrats&#8217; assault on the court undermines \u2063the principles of \u200cseparation of powers and threatens the integrity of our judicial system.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2063 is crucial for the American people to recognize the Democrats&#8217; partisan agenda and \u2062hold them accountable for their actions.
