I wonder why.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSure, he <em>claimed<\/em> \u200dit would\u2062 be a \u2062way to increase viewership \u2014 but you don\u2019t\u2063 get a larger audience \u200dby making something <em>harder<\/em> \u2064to watch,\u201d the Post\u2019s \u2064editorial board\u200c said. [Emphasis in the original.]\n<p>\u201cHis idea would shrink the audience \u2014 while increasing the proportion of views addicted to clickbait,\u201d the editorial continued.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThat he suggests \u200dTucker Carlson to host only\u2062 doubles down on that gambit:\u2064 Like Ramaswamy, Carlson used to raise\u200c important topics\u200c that much \u2062of the\u200b media didn\u2019t \u2063want to touch \u2014 but these\u200c days he\u2019s largely dedicated to pushing buttons hard\u2063 for a select audience.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Yes, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/tucker-carlson-warns-2024-will-like-nothing-ever-seen\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Tucker<\/a> \u201cused \u200cto raise\u2064 important topics that most of the\u200c media didn\u2019t want\u200c to touch\u201d \u2014 presumably, \u2064this \u200bperiod ended precisely \u2063when his on-air presence on Fox News did \u200d\u2014\u2062 but \u2064now he\u2019s going \u2063way over the line on\u2063 that\u200b nasty \u2064ol\u2019 social media platform.<\/p>\n<p>As for \u201cthe direction of Ramaswamy\u2019s campaign,\u201d the Post \u200deditorial board insisted \u200d\u201che increasingly relies \u200don conspiracy theories\u2062 and his most\u200b \u2018unique\u2019 ideas\u200b for his appeal.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe answer is not an online-only\u2064 debate, Vivek,\u201d\u2062 the board concluded.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s\u2064 about getting \u200bserious about\u2064 what the country needs and\u200b why you\u2019re\u2064 the candidate to do it. Stop\u200b trying to\u2063 limit the\u200d audience and instead broaden \u200dit, recapturing\u200c some of the\u200b excitement that got you on the debate stage \u200cin the first place.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Again, this isn\u2019t an opinion piece with a byline. This is <em>by the\u2063 editorial board<\/em> \u2014 i.e.,\u200c demarcating what is, more or less, \u2063the official position of a publication.<\/p>\n<p>If that publication is an integral part of a wider media empire, one can\u200b also glean\u2064 that \u2064this is probably the opinion of that organization\u2064 as\u200d a\u2064 whole; the Post \u2063is arguably one of the three main components of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/rupert-murdoch-chairman-fox-news-corps-will-take-new-position\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">News Corp\u2019s\u2063 empire<\/a>, along with The Wall Street Journal and Fox News.<\/p>\n<p>The last being, you know, the network that fired Carlson.<\/p>\n<p>But, of course, that didn\u2019t factor into \u2062 <em>any<\/em> of \u200bthis. Nothing to\u2062 see here. Vivek\u2019s campaign is officially\u2064 a joke.
