Kennedy was assassinated in Dallas, Texas, the \u201cwhat-ifs\u201d continue to haunt Americans.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>Case \u2062in \u200cpoint: One historian stumbled upon an event that took place 13\u200d months\u200b before the fatal attack which \u200bhe \u200dsaid represents\u2062 a\u2063 \u201cmissed\u2064 opportunity\u201d that should have reshaped presidential security protocols.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>If officials had \u2064paid attention \u200dto\u2063 that \u200bearlier threat and taken action, it\u200c ultimately could have\u200b saved Kennedy\u2019s life \u2014 and\u2064 even <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/kennedy-served-2nd-term-60th-anniversary-jfks-assassination\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">changed the course<\/a> of history, as\u2063 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.politico.com\/news\/magazine\/2023\/11\/22\/jfk-assassination-60-anniversary-00128153\">Politico<\/a> \u200c noted.<\/p>\n<p>Kennedy was\u2062 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/video-rfk-jr-claims-woody-harrelsons-father-involved-jfks-assassination\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">shot<\/a> while riding\u200b in an open \u2063convertible as \u2064his \u200bmotorcade passed through Dealey Plaza\u2063 in Dallas on\u200b Nov. 22,\u200b 1963.<\/p>\n<h3>A \u200cMissed Opportunity for \u2064Enhanced\u200d Security<\/h3>\n<p>Younger generations\u200c have grown up learning in \u2064history class about a\u2062 long list of assassinations and \u200bassassination attempts during that era, from JFK, his\u2062 brother Robert F. Kennedy\u200c (1968), Dr. \u200b <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/gop-candidate-brandon-herrera-attempts-debunk-fbis-account-mlk-jrs-assassination\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Martin Luther King Jr.<\/a> (1968), Malcolm X \u2063(1965), \u2063and later,\u200c the\u2064 murder of pop singer John \u2063Lennon (1980) and the attempt on\u2063 President \u2062Ronald Reagan\u2019s life (1981).<\/p>\n<p>To many, such tragic events have always been\u200b a part of\u2064 American life. \u200bBut before the pivotal\u2064 moment of JFK\u2019s assassination,\u2062 just as before\u200d 9\/11, \u2062such an act was\u200d largely considered\u2064 unthinkable, and law enforcement\u2063 had\u200c a much \u2064more relaxed standard of security.<\/p>\n<p>So it \u200cwas that a bizarrely similar event during Kennedy\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/secret-service-takes-protester-rushed-bidens-motorcade-screaming-pro-abortion-messages\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">motorcade<\/a> ride in Springfield, Illinois, on October 19, 1962,\u200d barely\u200d made a \u2063blip \u200con the police radar screen.<\/p>\n<p>The incident\u2062 remained \u2062largely forgotten until a researcher stumbled across the account while\u2063 going\u200d through the archives \u2064at Boston\u2019s\u2064 John F. \u2064Kennedy Library.<\/p>\n<p>Stephen F. Knott, an author and professor of national security affairs at the\u2062 United States Naval War College, described the scene\u2063 in \u2063an exclusive interview with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/media\/jfk-author-discovered-eerie-incident-occurred-year-before-assassination\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Fox \u2063Digital<\/a> this week.<\/p>\n<p>Kennedy visited Springfield that day to\u2062 lay a wreath at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/bidens-va-axes-lincoln-quote-50-percent-facilities-replaces-pc-version\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Abraham Lincoln\u2019s<\/a> tomb and to\u2062 deliver \u2062a speech, Knott said.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>\u201cAnd while he was\u2064 parading in an open car\u2063 through downtown Springfield, a police \u200bofficer spotted a rifle with a scope on it, emerged from \u200da nearby building\u2062 under\u200d which Kennedy\u2019s limousine was \u2062going\u2063 to pass.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThankfully, [an] Illinois police \u2062officer spotted it.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>A 20-year-old man and\u200c 16-year-old\u2064 boy were <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/trump-vs-kelly-debate-rematch-secret-service-move-fuels-speculation-report\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">arrested<\/a> and accused of pointing a .22-caliber\u200c rifle at Kennedy.<\/p>\n<p>They \u2062claimed to be \u200busing the rifle\u200c scope \u201cto get a better look at the president,\u201d according \u2062to the\u200c report.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe<a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/secret-service-agent-feet-jfk-assassination-breaks-silence-says-official-story-isnt-right\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"> Secret Service<\/a> held\u2064 these\u2062 two individuals for a time,\u201d Knott said.
