On \u200dany given news day, a \u2063casual reader might\u200d come across\u200c a headline claiming not only that these so-called bans are taking place but also that there exists a virtuous\u200c group of people\u200d who are \u200dout to stop \u200bthem.<\/p>\n<p>Conservatives are naturally being blamed as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/boy-believes-walrus-matt-walsh-takes-trans-agenda-surprise-new-childrens-book\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">the morally bankrupt left<\/a> \u200dportrays the battle over what should and should \u2062not\u2062 be\u2062 taught in classrooms as an issue of censorship and indoctrination by\u200b the\u200d right.<\/p>\n<p>It is generally omitted that many\u2064 of these \u200b\u201cbanned\u201d books are so graphic in nature that concerned parents have been\u2064 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/chairman-makes-pastor-stop-reading-disgusting-library-book-school-board-meeting-responds-5-brutal-words\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">asked\u2064 to stop \u2062reading from them<\/a> during <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/house-gop-plans-to-ask-fbi-director-christopher-wray-to-correct-his-testimony\/\" title=\"House GOP to request FBI Director Christopher Wray to 'rectify his testimony'.\">school board\u2063 meetings<\/a> on account \u2062of their perversity and vulgarity.<\/p>\n<p>Here is one example of a parent being asked\u200b by school administrators to cease\u2064 reading from a book that is available to children\u200b but was deemed inappropriate at a forum for adults:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p><em><strong>WARNING: The \u200bfollowing video contains \u2063vulgar \u200dand blasphemous language \u2064that some viewers will \u200bfind offensive.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Florida has taken \u2064a hardline stance against allowing such filth in\u2063 classrooms.\u2063 Other states that\u200d are also led by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/youngkin-fights-back-student-walkout-children-dont-belong-state\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Republicans<\/a> have\u200b taken major steps as\u200b of late\u2064 to prevent small children from being exposed \u200bto depravity\u200c in literature.<\/p>\n<p>But is a \u201cbook \u2063ban\u201d in\u2063 place anywhere in\u2062 America?<\/p>\n<p>Let\u2019s take a look at \u2062not only the question but also the people who\u200b are making the claims, the\u2063 books that are being \u201cbanned\u201d and \u2064what exactly \u200cis in some \u200cof\u2063 these books.<\/p>\n<h2>The Left Claims Conservatives Are Engaging in a Draconian Campaign of Censorship<\/h2>\n<p>Just this \u2062past \u200bweek, \u2064pop music singer Pink was celebrated by much of the liberal media after she pledged to pass out books that are not permitted in \u2062elementary school classrooms in \u2063 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/desantis-administration-sets-record-straight-pink-attacks-florida-banned-books-publicity-stunt\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Florida<\/a> \u200d during her concerts in the state.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>Pink gave away 2,000 banned books \u200cat her South Florida shows this week \u200din partnership \u2062with the literary and free \u2063expression advocacy group PEN America.<\/p>\n<p>The singer said \u2063she wanted to highlight the rising wave of book bans in Florida. <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/T9p3SMkhMe\">https:\/\/t.co\/T9p3SMkhMe<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/auINo6s0Ic\">pic.twitter.com\/auINo6s0Ic<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 ABC7 Eyewitness News (@ABC7) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/ABC7\/status\/1725256431853830555?\">November 16, 2023<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/people.com\/pink-give-away-banned-books-florida-tour-stops-8401409\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">People magazine<\/a> \u200b glowingly\u2062 reported on the stunt with the headline, \u201cPink to Give Away 2,000 Banned Books\u2064 About Race and Sexuality at \u200dUpcoming Florida Tour Stops.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The\u200d <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/marvel-actress-evangeline-lilly-targeted-for-cancellation-after-calling-on-justin-trudeau-to-listen-to-ottawa-protestors\/\" title=\"Marvel Actress Evangeline Lilly Targeted for Cancellation After Calling on Justin Trudeau to Listen to Ottawa Protestors\">left-leaning celebrity<\/a> and\u2064 gossip outlet conveniently left\u2062 out that one of the singer\u2019s own posts was\u2064 hit with Community Notes\u200b on X for \u200dpushing false information about what is and is not allowed to\u2062 be\u2064 taught in Florida\u2019s classrooms.<\/p>\n<p>Some of the books Pink claimed were \u200bbanned in Florida are\u200b actually recommended by the state \u200din its <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fldoe.org\/core\/fileparse.php\/7539\/urlt\/elabeststandardsfinal.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Benchmarks for Excellent Student Thinking Standards for English Language Arts<\/a>.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>The following are some\u2064 titles\u200d of\u200b books that\u2063 have \u200bbeen banned from schools in \u200bFlorida\u2026.\u2063 Lmk which book is To Kill A Mockingbird, The\u2064 Hate You Give, Forrest Gump, A Catcher In The Rye, \u2063The \u200dHill We Climb, Girls Who Code, Atlas Shrugged, 1984, The Kite Runner, The\u2026<\/p>\n<p>\u2014 P!nk (@Pink) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/Pink\/status\/1724224528740463099?\">November 14, 2023<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Pink\u2019s false claims\u200b can be attributed to either \u2062ignorance\u200b about the issue or a marketing tactic to sell tickets.<\/p>\n<p>But pushing the\u2062 falsehood \u200cthat \u200bbooks \u2063are being \u201cbanned\u201d left and right is\u2062 not\u2062 isolated to\u200c singers.<\/p>\n<p>The \u201cbook ban\u201d lie has been pushed by\u200c everyone from President \u200c <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/biden-not-happy-81st-birthday-even-family-members-worried\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Joe Biden<\/a> to LeVar Burton \u2014 who\u200c helped raise a generation of millennials \u2062with \u2062his <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/pbs-branded-enemy-people-network-slaps-warning-label-trump-live-event\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">PBS<\/a> show \u201cReading Rainbow.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Democratic Rep. Those\u200d are themes they can and\u200b most likely will discuss once they reach adulthood.<\/p>\n<p>Florida\u2019s schools have been \u2064on the frontline in \u2062the \u2063battle \u2064against deviancy\u2064 in \u2063literature.<\/p>\n<p>This year, Republican Gov. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/ron-desantis-scores-important-endorsement-gop-presidential-race\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Ron \u200cDeSantis<\/a> debunked the narrative\u200d that \u200dhe and others in the state were \u2062\u201cbanning books.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cExposing the \u2018book ban\u2019 hoax is important because it reveals that some are attempting to\u2063 use our schools for indoctrination,\u201d\u2062 the GOP presidential candidate said\u2063 in a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.flgov.com\/2023\/03\/08\/governor-ron-desantis-debunks-book-ban-hoax\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">statement<\/a> in March.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn Florida, pornographic and inappropriate materials that have\u200c been snuck into our classrooms and libraries to sexualize our students violate our state education standards,\u201d he said. \u201cFlorida is the\u2063 education \u2062state and that means\u2063 providing \u2062students with a quality \u200deducation free from sexualization \u200band harmful materials that are not age appropriate.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>DeSantis\u2064 listed\u2064 four books\u2064 that would \u2064not be permitted in\u200c Florida\u2019s classrooms:<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px\">\u2022\u200d \u201cGender Queer: \u2064A Memoir\u201d<br \/>\u2022 \u201cFlamer\u201d<br \/>\u2022 \u201cThis Book \u200bIs Gay\u201d<br \/>\u2022 \u201cLet\u2019s Talk About It\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The books contain explicit \u2063language, descriptions of\u2062 sex acts,\u200c and some alarming descriptions of fetishes that are \u200dapparently popular in much of \u200cthe \u2064 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/ap-national-museum-director-fired-displaying-lgbt-photos-violated-child-protection-laws\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">LGBT<\/a> community.<\/p>\n<p>For example, \u201cThis Book Is Gay\u201d explains\u200d to children\u2064 that\u200b there are \u2063some\u200b people\u2062 who engage in an act called \u2062\u201cscatting,\u201d\u200b which\u2062 Urban Dictionary defines as\u200b a \u201csexual act entailing defecating onto the face of one\u2019s partner.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Karol Markowicz, a columnist for \u200cthe New York\u2063 Post, shared a glossary from \u200bthe book in \u2062which \u200bit\u2064 explains that some people consume feces during sex.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>I \u200bknow \u2064why I don\u2019t want this\u200d in my kid\u2019s school. Even\u200b the \u2062media\u2064 has played\u200c a role in amplifying these claims, with\u2064 articles \u2064suggesting that book bans could come back to \u200dhaunt Republicans in future elections.<\/p>\n<p>However, the truth is that there\u200b is\u200b no ban on literature\u200b anywhere in the United\u2064 States.
