John Kasich <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/kasich-uses-cnn-gig-raise-money\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">does\u2062 this pretty \u200creliably<\/a>. Retiring Utah \u2064Sen. Mitt Romney will <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/bitter-romney-slams-enough-republicans-new-book-almost-sounds-like-democrat\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">also fit the bill ably<\/a>. And former House \u2063Speaker Kevin McCarthy also <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/bitter-kevin-mccarthy-goes-off-republicans-gave-boot\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">looks like a candidate<\/a> \u200c to fill this position ably in the future. Then, on the media side, you have folks like Max Boot, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/nyts-david-brooks-complains-price-meal-restaurant-points-spent\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">David Brooks<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/wapo-columnist-bidens-economy-great-except-pesky-inflation\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Jennifer Rubin<\/a> all peddling the \u200dsame wares, just without the electoral provenance.<\/p>\n<p>But\u2064 none of them can \u200cfit the role quite so ably as former Rep. Joe Scarborough, best known for his MSNBC wake-up show and\/or jeremiad about the death of \u2064democracy Trump hath brought upon us.<\/p>\n<p>However, that didn\u2019t \u2062prepare many for his Tuesday rant, one which \u2062had people on social media to question just how\u200c sane Scarborough is at this point.<\/p>\n<p>The former \u200dFlorida representative\u2019s\u200d final\u200c exit into\u2062 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/democratic-congresswoman-says-democrats-must-defeat-gop-in-2022-to-preserve-democracy\/\" title=\"Democratic Congresswoman Says Democrats Must Defeat GOP In 2022 To Preserve Democracy\">la-la land<\/a> may have come as he discussed a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2023\/11\/20\/us\/politics\/trump-rhetoric-fascism.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">New York Times<\/a> Op-Ed which implied Trump was using the tactics of fascism \u2014 \u200dwhich, you know, stop the presses, those which\u2062 remain. Someone at the Times\u200c thinks Trump is a fascist.<\/p>\n<p>The evidence? Stuff like this: \u201cDuring a Veterans Day speech, Mr. Trump used language\u200c that echoed authoritarian leaders who\u200b rose to power in Germany and Italy in\u200c the 1930s, degrading his political adversaries as \u2018vermin\u2019 who needed to be \u2018rooted \u2062out.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis turn inward has sounded new alarms among\u2063 experts on autocracy who have \u2064long worried about Mr. Trump\u2019s praise for foreign dictators and disdain for democratic ideals,\u201d the piece added.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey said the former president\u2019s increasingly intensive focus on perceived internal enemies\u2062 was a hallmark \u2064of dangerous totalitarian\u200d leaders.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>I don\u2019t know whether Joe Scarborough qualifies as one of those \u201cexperts on autocracy,\u201d\u2064 but boy, is he sounding alarms.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s time that fascism is called fascism and Americans \u200bknow exactly what they\u2019re\u200b voting for,\u201d Scarborough said during \u200bthe segment.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou know,\u200d I<a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/joe-scarborough-told-he-needs-medication-after-going-on-unhinged-anti-trump-rant\/\" title=\"Joe Scarborough Told He Needs Medication After Going on Unhinged Anti-Trump Rant\">\u2019ve heard people poo-poo<\/a> this and\u2064 go, \u2018Oh, people on the \u200cfar left.\u2019 No. I\u2019m a conservative, I\u2019m on the right. There\u2019s a difference between conservatism, radicalism and fascism.\u2064 This is \u200cfascism.\u201d<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">\u201cIt\u2019s time that\u2064 fascism is called fascism and Americans know exactly \u2062what they\u2019re\u200b voting for.\u201d \u2014<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/JoeNBC?\">@joenbc<\/a> discussing NYT reporting on Trump\u2019s authoritarian bent <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/ItDfOreds6\">pic.twitter.com\/ItDfOreds6<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Morning Joe (@Morning_Joe) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/Morning_Joe\/status\/1726926047755542624?\">November 21, 2023<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>He then \u2062went\u2063 through the \u201cboilerplate\u201d elements of fascism as explained by one\u200d of the Times\u2019 \u201cexperts.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFascism is generally understood as an\u2062 authoritarian\u2063 far-right system of government in which\u2063 hypernationalism is a central component. Check,\u201d Scarborough said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt also features a cult \u2062of personality around a\u200b strongman leader. Check. The justification of violence or retribution against opponents. Check. And \u200bthe repeated denigration of the rule of law. Check,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/white-woke-dems-wrong-even-al-sharpton-joe-scarborough-disgusted\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Scarborough<\/a> added that \u201cfascist leaders \u2064appeal to a sense \u200dof victimhood to justify their actions. Check. We\u2019re entitled because we\u2019ve been robbed, we\u2019ve\u200d been \u200bvictimized, \u200cwe\u2019ve \u2062been cheated and robbed. Check,\u200c check, check,\u201d and went \u2062on to say \u2062that his supporters use\u2062 \u201csnowflakery\u201d and \u201cvictimization to justify violence against their opponents.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>If you are\u200c desperate and dense enough, you can tar and feather any \u200dpolitical opponent with\u200c these points. And that made Scarborough ask God for forgiveness for\u2064 being a Republican.\u2062 Whatever.<\/p>\n<p>As it stands, Scarborough should probably be asking the almighty for some help in the opportunism, not former party membership, department.<\/p>\n<p>There are tons of professional former Republicans, but few play \u200dthe role as well as Joe Scarborough. The man \u2064goes over the top in a way that,\u200d I\u2019m sure, makes <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/plumber-discovered-cash-stash-walls-church-calls-joel-osteen\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">crooked televangelists<\/a> \u2062 and\u200c pro wrestling villains a little jealous.<\/p>\n<p>Sadly,\u200d some people believe\u2063 those crooked televangelists are on the up-and-up\u2063 and that pro wrestling is still real. (The latter cohort tend to be under the \u200cage \u200cof 12.)<\/p>\n<p>A wider swath of \u200dDemocrats actually believes the piffle \u2063that \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/watch-morning-joe-flustered-poll-showing-voters-trust-trump-biden-key-issues\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Morning Joe<\/a>\u201d is peddling. It\u2019s dangerous and deliberate \u2014 and\u2064 if it wasn\u2019t so blatantly unscrupulous in how calculating it was, it would be \u2064the ramblings of a crazy person.<\/p>\n<p>I\u2019m not sure if meds\u2062 can help with that, but rest assured that even if they did, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/owners-claim-coincidence-msnbc-sidelined-pro-palestine-anchors-week\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">MSNBC executives<\/a> \u2063wouldn\u2019t want him taking them. When we talk to constitutional\u2064 law professors, when\u2063 we talk to Republican and Democratic members of Congress \u2062alike, they said\u200b that these things checked\u2063 off the boxes of \u2063what we doesn\u2019t want in an\u200b American president.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Scarborough then proceeded to claim that the\u202fRepublican Party, and a significant portion \u2062of its \u2063voter base, were not only \u200ccomplicit in Trump\u2019s alleged fascist tendencies but\u2063 that they were supporters of it.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou go out to Dixie and you\u2062 talk\u200c to\u200c Republicans out there,\u201d Scarborough said. \u201cHell, you go up\u2062 to New England, you go into any conservative chamber, they\u2019ll\u2064 tell you it\u2019s real.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSo you\u2019ve got \u200da few elitists who want to suggest this isn\u2019t the\u2064 case,\u201d he continued. \u201cWhen in fact they\u200d thumb their noses at all the Americans who aren\u2019t inside that world, aren\u2019t part \u2062of their clubs, just aren\u2019t as recession-proof as they\u200d are. However, the question remains whether these accusations hold any merit or are just a\u200c desperate attempt \u200dto \u2064delegitimize political \u200dopponents.<\/p>\n<p>Accusing someone of fascism is \u2063a serious charge, one\u2064 that <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/tucker-carlson-debunks-totally-made-up-story-that-claimed-desantis-kicked-his-dog\/\" title=\"Tucker Carlson disproves false tale of DeSantis mistreating his dog.\">requires substantial evidence<\/a> and thoughtful\u2062 analysis. While every individual is entitled to their own\u2063 opinion, it\u2062 is important to remember the importance\u2064 of fair and unbiased reporting, as well as the potential\u200c consequences of using such inflammatory language in political discourse.<\/p>\n<p>Ultimately, it\u2064 is\u200b up\u200c to the American people to critically evaluate the claims made by prominent figures like Joe Scarborough and\u200b determine the validity\u2064 of their statements.
