relationship\u200b between the President \u2064of the United States (POTUS) and the Vice President of the United States\u200b (VPOTUS) can be a fickle thing.<\/p>\n<p>Sometimes \u200cthings start out\u200d well enough but <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/pence-sells-trump-claims-georgia-election-not-stolen-wake-indictment\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">end badly<\/a>, as they\u200d did with former President Donald Trump and former Vice President Mike\u200c Pence.<\/p>\n<p>Other\u2064 times, things \u200c <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/biden-frustrated-kamala-harris-impacting-2024-decision-report\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">sputter and struggle<\/a> to even start\u2062 out well, as \u200bwith President Joe Biden\u200d and Vice\u2062 President Kamala \u200cHarris.<\/p>\n<p>And then\u200c there\u2019s whatever is going on between former President Barack Obama and Biden,\u200c who served as the former\u2019s VP in both presidential terms.<\/p>\n<p>The two-term Democrat ticket of Obama-Biden has always\u2062 seemed like an odd fit from the outset \u2014\u200b far more a marriage of convenience than \u2064anything else.<\/p>\n<p>Biden, very much \u2063a swampy, career politician, never quite felt like a natural\u200b extension of Obama,\u200b very much\u200d part of \u2063the \u200bnew breed of far leftism infesting the \u2064Democratic Party\u2063 (think the \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/squad-puts-forward-resolution-calling-israel-cease-response-hamas-terror-attack\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">squad<\/a>.\u201d)<\/p>\n<p>It doesn\u2019t help dispel the odd couple\u2062 vibe \u2063that Obama, for the \u200b <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/dershowitz-goes-off-obama-israel-comments-ashamed-friend\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">many, many, many<\/a> faults he has, \u2062at least has some\u200d semblance \u2064of a human \u200cpersonality \u2014 whereas Biden has\u200b all the charisma of \u2063a comatose wildebeest.<\/p>\n<p>Obama\u2019s personality largely stems from \u2064his speaking ability, and it\u2019s an ability the man\u200b clearly puts time and effort into. \u2063Whatever\u2063 you may think of the man, when Obama speaks, it\u2019s very deliberate, crafted and curated.<\/p>\n<p>So when Obama\u200d mentions \u2014 or doesn\u2019t mention \u2014 something when speaking \u200dpublicly, people take notice.<\/p>\n<p>In a \u200cless-than-glowing Sunday <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/politics\/2023\/11\/19\/biden-campaign-democrats-anxiety-trump\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">article<\/a> from The Washington Post, the outlet that threatens democracy with darkness (or something to that effect)\u200d chronicled the way in which Democrats are furiously working\u200b to overturn\u2063 the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/cnn-political-director-forced-admit-truth-biden-seeing-networks-new-poll\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">less-than-stellar image<\/a> \u200dof the incumbent \u200dpresident \u2014 except for\u200d Obama.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier this month, Obama and\u2064 his team \u2063planned a lavish event \u200bin Chicago\u200b that was both a Democrat rah-rah event \u200band a celebration of\u2064 the \u206215-year anniversary of Obama\u2019s 2008 general election victory.<\/p>\n<p>WaPo reported that, speaking \u200cto unnamed attendees of the event, there was a \u201cpointed absence of \u2063any meaningful cheerleading for Biden.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Obama allegedly \u201cbarely mentioned\u201d Biden in a speech at that event, nor did he offer much praise for the incumbent on a podcast appearance earlier that day.<\/p>\n<p>Now, \u2062Obama\u2019s camp appears to be trying\u200d to squelch any anti-Biden chatter, as a representative told the \u2064Post that the Chicago event was hosted by the \u200cObama Foundation,\u200c which is \u201ca nonprofit \u200cthat cannot \u2064legally engage in partisan political\u200c activity.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>That\u200c explanation seemed\u2062 to defy the general sentiment of the event that WaPo reported on: \u201cYet several attendees said the tensions were evident.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe takeaway of the weekend was not, \u2064\u2018Hey team, we\u2019ve got to get the band back together\u200b to help Biden out,\u2019\u201d one unnamed attendee\u200b told the Post. \u201cIf this is a \u2063<a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/obama-snubs-biden-at-15th-anniversary-of-his-presidential-victory-tensions-were-evident\/\" title=\"Obama Snubs Biden at 15th Anniversary of His Presidential Victory: 'Tensions Were Evident'\">supposedly existential threat<\/a> and democracy\u2063 is so challenged, then why aren\u2019t you being more overt about\u2063 it.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Well, the reason\u200c that Team Obama is\u2064 not \u201cbeing more overt\u201d is a rather simple\u200b one: The entire Obama brand is about being a frontrunner \u2064and Biden\u2019s losing\u2064 all over the place right now (in\u200c polls, in public sentiment, you name it.)<\/p>\n<p>The self-preservation of his own\u2063 legacy\u2063 far \u2064outweighs \u2062any love that Obama may have \u200dhad for Biden once\u2064 upon a time, and that\u2019s because,\u200b simply put, Biden is toxic.<\/p>\n<p>And, to be sure, \u200dObama is <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/chicago-city-planners-say-obama-library-will-hurt-community-obama-staffers-pleased-anyway\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">wildly self-obsessed<\/a> with his legacy.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s a\u200d genuinely difficult task to name one tangible aspect of American life that has improved under Biden\u2019s watch, particularly when juxtaposed\u2064 against what his predecessor accomplished.
