The \u200cDemocratic Party Doesn\u2019t.\u201d But, he goes on, \u201cThere is\u200b one American party that \u200dis currently \u2064healthy\u200d enough to call out and exclude antisemitism within its ranks.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Sure, you might <em>see<\/em> leftists participating in the most virulent antisemitic protests in American history. You might <em>read<\/em> elected Democrats spreading blood libels and \u2063accusing Jews of \u2062dual loyalty. You might <em>watch<\/em> the leading liberal <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/are-covid-case-surges-more-fake-news\/\" title=\"Are COVID Case Surges More Fake News?\">cable news<\/a> network repeating Hamas propaganda, but all of that merely proves \u2063that \u2064Republicans have a \u200cserious problem on their hands.<\/p>\n<div class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-paragraph-2-long d-flex justify-content-center\" style=\"margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center; \" id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-1499890097\">\n<div id=\"div-gpt-ad-1379703300879-0\" class=\"mb-30\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-6d13a3285ea11d7b49d35e9c087eaf48 fdrlst__b89e9-paragraph-2\" id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-6d13a3285ea11d7b49d35e9c087eaf48\"><\/div>\n<p>Now, it should be noted that Chait doesn\u2019t \u201ccall out and exclude\u201d antisemitism \u2063within his ranks. He\u2019s\u200d been whitewashing it for years.<\/p>\n<p>When in 2021,\u200d I pointed\u2063 out that Tlaib was \u200cpeddling antisemitic tropes about people \u201cbehind the curtain\u201d undermining a \u201cfree Palestine\u201d being the\u2063 \u201csame people\u201d\u200b who exploit \u201cregular Americans\u201d for \u200c\u201ctheir profit,\u201d Chait called it \u2064a \u201cclassic example of right-wingers \u2063using \u200cthe ultra-sensitive standards, with the least generous interpretation.\u201d Right? Who \u2064doesn\u2019t talk about \u200bwealthy puppeteers hypnotizing American patriots for profit?<\/p>\n<p>Chait \u2064believes criticizing George Soros, \u2063the most generous funder of leftist causes in the world, sounds\u2063 like\u200d something out \u2062of <em>The Protocols of the \u2062Elders of Zion<\/em>. At the same time, he believes criticizing\u200c a woman who pushes ancient tropes about Jewish \u200cpower is a \u201cclassic overreaction.\u201d Actually, now he contends that Tlaib \u2014 whose tweet falsely accusing \u200bIsrael of bombing a \u2064Christian hospital filled with children is \u200dstill up \u2014 \u201chas never\u2063 actually uttered\u2062 anything a reasonable person would deem antisemitic.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Even the ADL, incidentally, which is run by \u200da long-time \u2063Democrat partisan, has denounced Tlaib. \u200dIs Jonathan Greenblatt not a \u2064\u201creasonable person\u201d in Chait\u2019s estimation?<\/p>\n<div class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-503f0272b155fca521a4c110d37711e5 fdrlst__b89e9-paragraph-6\" id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-503f0272b155fca521a4c110d37711e5\"><\/div>\n<p>Chait contends that\u2064 Ron DeSantis has an antisemitism problem. Elon Musk, you see, who backed the\u2063 Florida\u200c governor in\u200b 2022, also agreed with an \u2064antisemite\u2019s tweet a year later. Chait compares this association to one Barack \u200bObama had \u200dwith his long-time mentor and close confidant, the racist preacher Jeremiah Wright. (To be fair,\u2063 Wright wasn\u2019t the only Jew hater Obama palled around with \u2014 but we don\u2019t talk about that.)<\/p>\n<p>One thing is certain: DeSantis, unlike Tlaib, does not\u200b use or excuse eliminationist rhetoric. \u201c\u2018From the river to the sea,\u2019\u201d explains Chait,\u2063 who <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/jonathan-chait-whitewashes-left-wing-antisemitism-to-protect-democrats\/\" title=\"Jonathan Chait Whitewashes Left-Wing Antisemitism To Protect Democrats\">hears white supremacist dog whistles<\/a>\u2064 in his \u2062sleep, \u201cis \u2064an inflammatory and\u200d irresponsible slogan that implicitly creates solidarity with terrorism\u200c precisely because it is\u2063 ambiguous\u200b and open to\u2064 multiple definitions, but it is not per se antisemitic.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFrom the river to the sea\u201d is the least ambiguous phrase imaginable. It\u2063 quite literally and geographically lays out the\u200d genocidal aims of its chanters \u2014 from the Jordan River to the Mediterranean Sea, including all of the Jewish state, not just \u201coccupied\u201d territory. Using Chait\u2019s\u200b partisan-addled logic, one could\u200d argue that white supremacists who chant, \u200d\u201cYou Will Not Replace Us\u201d might not be talking about racial domination\u2063 \u2014 you know, not per se \u2014 but merely about coexistence. Who\u2019s to\u2064 know, right?<\/p>\n<p>Chait says that leftist antisemitism, what little of\u2064 it exists, is \u201coverwhelmingly directed in opposition \u200cto \u200dthe Democratic Party.\u201d This supposedly proves that the Democrats are the anti-antisemitism party.<\/p>\n<div class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-0cc7ccf8b66632d394fbc01ac25e3ee3 fdrlst__b89e9-paragraph-10\" id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-0cc7ccf8b66632d394fbc01ac25e3ee3\"><\/div>\n<p><em>No<\/em>, this happens because the American \u200bleft has a huge Jew-hater problem. Does any sentient human being believe that these protests wouldn\u2019t be overwhelmingly directed at President DeSantis or \u2062Donald Trump \u2014 both of \u200bwhom would\u2063 likely be just as, if not more, inclined to back Israel? The only\u2063 reason Biden\u2019s modest support for Israel is undermining him in polls is because anti-Israel, oftentimes pro-Hamas, fans \u2062are \u200boverwhelmingly on the left, not right. That\u2019s not hyperbole. According to a\u2063 recent Harvard poll, 36 percent of\u200d \u201cliberals\u201d agree that Hamas attacks on civilians were \u201cjustified.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Needless to \u2062say, the antisemites on college\u2063 campuses who set up \u201cJew-free\u201d zones and sign petitions solely\u200d blaming Israel for its own \u200bdead women and babies are not members of the\u2062 Young Republicans Club. And the \u200dpeople tearing down\u200b posters of kidnapped children are never going to vote for the GOP. How\u200d many Republicans were\u200d among the 400+\u2062 congressional staffers or the 500+ State\u200b Department bureaucrats who demanded Hamas get away with the\u2064 murder of\u200d 1,200 civilians \u2014 at least 30 of them American citizens? Probably not many.<\/p>\n<p>Antisemites are \u200bwelcomed in \u200dthe Democratic Party. \u200bNo one forced Nancy \u2064Pelosi to preen on the cover of Rolling Stone\u2019s \u201cWomen Shaping the \u2064Future\u201d with Ilhan Omar\u2062 (and \u2063other Hamas \u200bapologists) after her antisemitic remarks were known.<\/p>\n<p>To get around the Omar problem, Chait writes:<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote\">\n<p>Well, the party made clear those comments were \u2064unacceptable. Omar apologized, and Democrats supported a congressional resolution denouncing them. That is how a healthy party operates.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>No, they didn\u2019t. The resolution passed by Democrats mentions Alfred Dreyfus and Leo Frank, but nowhere in the text is Omar\u2019s name or any reference to her remarks mentioned. Democrats, as usual, refused to condemn antisemitism without watering \u200dit down with \u2062a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/hyperventilating-about-kanye-cant-hide-the-lefts-antisemitism-double-standard\/\" title=\"Hyperventilating About Kanye Can\u2019t Hide The Left\u2019s Antisemitism Double Standard\">platitudinous laundry list<\/a> of every censurable hatred imaginable. As is the case whenever Jews are being attacked, the problem of \u2064\u201cIslamophobia\u201d dominates the resolution. The \u200dcensure would be equivalent to Republicans condemning a\u2063 right-wing antisemite by denouncing\u200b Stalin\u2019s \u201cDoctors\u2019 Plot\u201d and the 1992 Los Angeles riots while lamenting the prevalence\u2063 of\u200c black antisemitism in inner cities. It was a complete joke.<\/p>\n<p>There are indeed antisemites on both sides \u2013 and we should call\u2064 them out. But while most of the worst right-wing antisemites\u2064 cosplay as Nazis in\u200b front of \u2063Disney, full-blown left-wing Hamas apologists are now embedded in universities, major newspapers, cable news, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/newsom-recall-hits-signature-threshold-to-make-california-ballot\/\" title=\"Newsom Recall Hits Signature Threshold to Make California Ballot\">liberal politics<\/a>,\u200d think tanks, protest movements like BLM \u200dand the Women\u2019s March, and in congress.<\/p>\n<p>What \u200bthey engage in \u2064is not causal or subtle antisemitism that needs deciphering. \u201cAnti-Zionism,\u201d girded by ancient tropes \u200dabout Jewish power and\u200d influence, is the predominant \u2063justification for violence, murder, and hatred\u2064 against Jews.<\/p>\n<p>These people are not the dominant voice in the \u200cDemocratic Party, but they \u200bare a\u200d growing one. It costs nothing for a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/opinion-i-was-wrong-to-think-cuomo-wouldnt-resign-now-i-wonder-what-else-was-going-to-come-out\/\" title=\"OPINION: I Was Wrong To Think Cuomo Wouldn\u2019t Resign. Now I Wonder What Else Was Going To Come Out.\">left-leaning pundit<\/a> to speak the truth. Unless, of course, they value partisanship above decency.<\/p>\n<div class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-0ee83bf6bf1f54b35f222d76a5f5c58b fdrlst__b89e9-after-post-content\" id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-0ee83bf6bf1f54b35f222d76a5f5c58b\"><\/div>\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\">\n<\/div>\n<p> <\/p>\n<h2> How does the resolution passed by the Democrats regarding\u200c hate \u200cin general, rather \u200bthan specifically \u2063addressing Omar&#8217;s comments, reflect on their stance towards \u200ballegations of anti-Semitism?<\/h2>\n<p><span>  Ar controversy, the Democrats\u2064 passed a resolution condemning \u2062hate in general, \u200crather than specifically addressing Omar\u2019s comments. Speaker Pelosi defended \u2062this move, stating that Omar didn\u2019t \u201chave a scintilla\u200c of antisemitism in \u200bher bones.\u201d \u200bIt seems that\u2063 in the eyes\u200b of the Democratic Party,\u200d being a\u200d member of a marginalized group\u200b grants you immunity from \u200bany accusations of antisemitism, no matter how blatant the evidence may \u200bbe.<\/p>\n<p>Chait concludes his piece by asserting that \u201cDemocrats haven\u2019t slipped down\u200b the \u2062dangerous \u200bslope \u2064of indulging extremism.\u201d But the truth is, they\u2019ve not\u200d only slipped, but they\u2019ve plummeted headfirst. They\u2019ve embraced, excused, and even glorified figures who engage in blatant antisemitism. \u200dAnd they\u2019ve done so without any consequences or accountability from within\u2062 their own party.<\/p>\n<div class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-0f0dbb381cbf608c4880ed4621fca \n\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>\u201cAntisemitism exists on both sides,\u201d says NY columnist Jonathan Chait.
