The Nikkei (.N225) \u200cran into profit taking but was still up 8.2% for the month so far\u200c with the Topix (.TOPX) not far behind.<\/p>\n<p><strong>There were media reports that Israel, the \u200bUnited States and Hamas \u2064had \u2063reached a tentative agreement to free\u2062 dozens of hostages in Gaza in exchange for a five-day pause in fighting, but no confirmation as yet.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Minutes of the Fed\u2019s last meeting will offer \u200bsome colour on policy makers\u2019 thinking as \u200dthey held rates steady for a second time.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u201cDovish minutes could\u200b trigger some \u200bdownside risk for the dollar,\u201d Ricardo Evangelista, senior analyst at ActivTrades, said.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Signs of progress\u2063 in the battle against inflation in the United States have driven a recovery in stocks this year<\/strong> as investors hope for an\u200c end to the cycle \u200bof rate hikes that have \u2063been policymakers\u2019 main tool for fighting \u2064price increases on goods.<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u201cWe expect the mega-cap tech stocks will continue to outperform given their superior expected sales growth, margins, re-investment ratios, and balance sheet strength,\u201d Goldman Sachs analysts said \u2062in a\u2062 note.<\/strong> \u201cBut the risk\/reward profile is not especially compelling given elevated expectations.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>Tech major\u200d Nvidia (NVDA.O) reports quarterly results on Tuesday,<\/strong> \u200c and all \u2063eyes will be on the state of demand for its AI-related\u200b products.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">A LOT PRICED IN<\/h2>\n<p><strong>Markets have all but priced out the risk \u200dof a further U.S. rate hike \u2064in December or next year,<\/strong> and \u2063imply a 30% chance\u200b of an easing starting in March.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Treasury markets braced for the sale of $249 billion in U.S. government debt over the\u2063 next two days<\/strong> as \u200binvestors\u200b seek a slightly higher premium in the shortened holiday week.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The yield \u2063on benchmark 10-year Treasury notes rose to 4.4647%\u200c compared with its \u200cU.S. close of 4.441% on Friday.<\/strong> The two-year yield , which rises with traders\u2019 expectations of higher Fed fund rates, touched 4.913% from 4.907% previously.<\/p>\n<p><strong>There was relief\u200b in Europe for some battered sovereign names,<\/strong> \u200das the risk premia investors ask to hold Italian\u200b and \u200cPortuguese debt fell after ratings agency Moody\u2019s upgraded its view of the two countries.<\/p>\n<p><strong>It upgraded the outlook\u200b for Italy from negative to stable, and pushed Portugal\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/moodys-downgrades-polands-mbank-confirms-bank-millennium\/\" title=\"Moody\u2019s downgrades Poland\u2019s mBank, confirms Bank Millennium\">long-term issuer rating<\/a> up two notches to A3 from Baa2,<\/strong> narrowing the spreads on\u2063 both bonds relative\u200d to the region\u2019s benchmark \u2064German 10-year\u200b bonds.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Closely watched surveys of European manufacturing are due this \u2063week.<\/strong> Any hint of weakness\u200d will encourage more wagers n early rate cuts from the European Central Bank.<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u201cThese surveys \u2064will be very important around the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/global-equities-gain-as-us-dollar-extends-drop\/\" title=\"Global equities gain as US dollar extends drop\">euro area services \u200csector<\/a> given the sharp\u200b deterioration seen recently,\u201d said NAB analysts.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Markets imply around a 70% chance \u200bof an easing as\u2064 soon as April,<\/strong> even though\u2064 many\u2063 ECB officials are still talking of the need to keep policy\u2064 tight.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Sweden\u2019s central bank meets this \u200cweek\u200d and may \u200dhike again,<\/strong> given high inflation and the weakness of its currency.<\/p>\n<p><strong>In commodities, oil rose amid speculation OPEC+ will\u2064 extend, or \u2064increase, its production \u200bcuts at a meeting on Nov. \u206326.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Brent rose 2.27% to $82.53\u2062 a barrel,<\/strong> as \u2064U.S. crude\u2064 rose 2.17% to \u2064$77.54.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Spot\u2064 gold prices fell 0.43%\u200b to $1,971.49 an ounce,<\/strong> after climbing 2.2% last week.<\/p>\n<p><sub>Reporting by Chris Prentice in \u200cNew York, Wayne Cole in Sydney and Lawrence White in London;
