Matt Gaetz (R-FL) \u2063might be\u2064 in hot\u200c water, just like Rep. George Santos (R-NY), once the House Ethics \u2063Committee releases its\u2062 report on \u200dhim. \u200dMcCarthy made \u2063these remarks during an appearance on Fox News&#8217;s Sunday Morning Futures, where he \u2064discussed House Speaker Mike Johnson&#8217;s (R-LA) \u2062proposed\u2064 continuing \u200bresolution.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I think Johnson \u2064was very smart about ensuring our troops get paid, especially those in the Mediterranean,&#8221; McCarthy stated. &#8220;Unfortunately, we had\u200b some members who were \u200dobstructing the \u2062progress of bills, \u2062just like before.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>McCarthy emphasized the need for unity and expressed his belief that Gaetz&#8217;s ethics complaint could lead to similar consequences as Santos. He suggested that the conference would be better off united to move forward\u2063 and address the issues at hand.<\/p>\n<p>Gaetz, along with seven other GOP colleagues, previously attempted to remove McCarthy from his\u2063 position in October. The tension between Gaetz\u200b and McCarthy has been ongoing, with Gaetz blocking McCarthy&#8217;s bid\u2063 for speakership earlier this year.
