Mike Lee Questions Former House Committee&#8217;s Handling of Jan. \u20626 Riot<\/h2>\n<p>Sen. Mike Lee (R-UT) is raising \u200dconcerns\u200b about what the former House select committee investigating \u2062the January 6th riot may have \u2062concealed, following \u2063the release of security footage by Speaker Mike Johnson\u200b (R-LA).<\/p>\n<p>In \u2064a series of engaging posts\u2064 on\u200b X (formerly\u2063 known\u200d as Twitter), Lee questioned the actions of\u200b the now-dissolved \u200ccommittee, particularly its two\u200b Republican members, former Rep. Liz Cheney and former Rep. Adam\u200b Kinzinger. He\u2062 called for a thorough investigation.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>&#8220;Why didn&#8217;t\u2062 Liz Cheney and Adam Kinzinger ever refer to any of these tapes? Maybe they never looked for them. He also questioned whether \u2064information about \u2062the committee&#8217;s work \u200dwas intentionally lost or destroyed.<\/p>\n<p>The\u2064 Utah Republican responded\u200d to a tweet from Cheney, where she shared footage of the \u200criot outside the Capitol.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>&#8220;Liz, we&#8217;ve seen footage like that a million times. You made sure we saw that\u2014and nothing else. It&#8217;s the other\u200d stuff\u2014what you deliberately hid from us\u2014that we find so upsetting. Nice try. P.S. (As if you&#8217;d ever tell us),&#8221;<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Cheney dismissed Lee&#8217;s comments, referring to\u200d him as a &#8220;nutball conspiracy theorist.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The House Select \u2062Committee on the January 6\u2062 Attack concluded its work in December 2022 and was disbanded in January 2023. The committee, consisting of seven Democrats and two Republicans, was appointed by then-House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA).<\/p>\n<p>Kinzinger did not seek reelection in\u200c 2022, while Cheney lost to GOP challenger Rep.
