No? Good. Then hands will not need \u200bto be thrown tonight,\u201d he said, \u2064according to\u200b <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2023\/11\/16\/style\/national-book-awards-2023-ceasefire-book-bans-cec\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">CNN<\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Burton went on to say, \u201cFreedom feels especially fraught in this global political \u2062moment.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOn \u2063the home front, \u2063we are fighting for \u2062control \u200cof truth and how we interpret truth in this country. Books are \u2063being\u200c banned, words \u200dare being silenced \u2063and writers and others who champion books are under attack.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Burton \u200bmust have been talking about <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/dr-seuss-canceled-business-6-books-will-no-longer-published\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Dr. Seuss\u2062 books<\/a>, six of which will no \u2064longer be published after they were deemed \u201cracist.\u201d Because as far as I\u2019m aware,\u200d Moms\u200b for Liberty has never \u201csilenced\u201d anyone by getting a book banned \u2064from\u200b publication.<\/p>\n<p>What it has done is advocate for inappropriate\u2063 books\u200d \u2014 such as those with \u201cLGBT themes\u201d and pornographic content \u2014\u2064 to be kept out of public \u200dschool classrooms.<\/p>\n<div id=\"firefly-poll-container\" class=\"one-half\">\n<div class=\"firefly-poll-question\">Should\u200c Burton apologize?<\/div>\n<div id=\"pollFormBox\" style=\"display: none\">\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Yes<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>No<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><\/p>\n<div class=\"firefly-poll-disclaimer\">\n<p>\t\t\tCompleting this poll entitles you to The Western Journal news updates free of charge via email. Threatening physical violence against women? \u200d <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/qui0iP3McW\">https:\/\/t.co\/qui0iP3McW<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Moms for Liberty (@Moms4Liberty) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/Moms4Liberty\/status\/1725287899254383016?\">November 16, 2023<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Conservative parents \u200dweren\u2019t the only ones displeased\u2064 with \u2064this year\u2019s National Book Awards.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/zibbyowens.substack.com\/p\/why-zibby-media-pulled-out-of-the\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Zibby Owens<\/a>, owner \u2064of Zibby Media, pulled her sponsorship of the \u200devent after she\u2062 learned that a\u200d group of finalists had decided to\u2063 \u201ccollectively band together to use their speeches to promote \u200ba pro-Palestinian, anti-Israeli agenda.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Sure\u200b enough, author Aaliyah \u2062Bilal, surrounded \u2064by other finalists, stood on stage and read a statement condemning Israel\u2019s \u201congoing bombardment of Gaza\u201d and calling for a \u201chumanitarian\u200c cease-fire.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The hypocrisy is\u2062 sickening.\u200d Let\u2019s encourage violence against moms trying to protect their children while \u200dgiving\u200d a platform for anti-Semitic propaganda.<\/p>\n<p>A National Book Award is considered\u2064 a badge of honor.
