If Donald Trump is a convicted felon,\u200c the day he shows up to\u2064 Congress, you can imagine\u200c the impeachment \u2014 \u200blegitimate\u2062 impeachment \u200binquiries and motions that are going\u200d to be made,&#8221; Buck said. \u2064&#8221;And so\u2064 I think it&#8217;s a real problem having someone that has &#8230; and the impeachment, the crimes\u200b aren&#8217;t just \u200dcrimes that have\u2064 nothing to do with politics or his presidency. \u200dThey\u200b are integrally involved with how\u200d he operated the White House and what he did after he lost an election.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I think that is really \u200da cause for concern. I \u2062think the Republican Party and\u200b I hope the primary voters take that \u2064into account. I don&#8217;t know that the party can\u2063 take action \u200bas much\u200c as the \u200cvoters can take action,&#8221;\u2062 he added.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Buck, who has \u200dbeen \u2064critical of\u200d Trump, cited GOP narratives surrounding the 2020 election \u2062and the Jan. 6 Capitol riot as reasons \u200bfor him not seeking\u2062 reelection in 2024. There was no investigation; \u2064the\u200c chief justice [of the Supreme Court] didn&#8217;t even sit \u2063in\u2064 the Senate and\u200b preside\u200d over the proceedings \u200dbecause he was \u2062no longer president. The\u200c Constitution \u200dsays you impeach a\u2063 president, not\u200d a \u2064former president.
