Tim Burchett is. Just days after an incident in which former Speaker Rep. Kevin \u200dMcCarthy gave him \u2014 one of the Republicans McCarthy dubbed the \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/bitter-kevin-mccarthy-goes-off-republicans-gave-boot\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">crazy eight<\/a>\u201d for voting against him in a motion to vacate \u2014 an elbow, Burchett effectively gave that answer regarding where he is on the \u2064situation and says\u200b that <strong>\u201cI pray for him.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Burchett, who <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/gop-rep-roasts-mccarthy-sucker-punching-compares-childhood-bully\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">said he hadn\u2019t spoken<\/a> to McCarthy since the ouster, had been giving an interview to NPR \u2063on Tuesday when the incident occurred.<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u201cBurchett stumbled \u2064forward and yelled after McCarthy, \u2018Why\u2019d you elbow me in the back, Kevin?! Hey, Kevin, you got any guts?!\u2019\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/www.npr.org\/2023\/11\/14\/1212912482\/mccarthy-burchett-elbow-house-republicans\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">NPR<\/a> reported.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u201cBurchett then called \u2063McCarthy a \u2018jerk\u2019\u2064 and chased him down\u2063 the hallway. When \u2064he caught up to him, he said, \u2018What kind of\u200d chicken move is that? You\u2019re pathetic, man. You are so pathetic.\u2019\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Video doesn\u2019t\u2063 exist of the incident and McCarthy is chalking it\u200b up to a \u201ctight hallway,\u201d which is downright hilarious \u2014 \u2063he\u2019s been in Congress\u2064 how many years \u200cnow and \u2062the\u200c one legislator he has an \u201caltercation\u201d with in a \u201ctight hallway\u201d happens to be one of his <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/gop-rep-praying-for-mccarthy-after-former-speaker-reportedly-hit-him\/\" title=\"GOP Rep Praying for McCarthy After Former Speaker Reportedly Hit Him\">political enemies \u2064du jour<\/a>? \u2014 but <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/carlson-mocks-trudeau-for-hiding-says-he-used-covid-to-short-circuit-democracy\/\" title=\"Carlson Mocks Trudeau for Hiding, Says He Used COVID to 'Short Circuit' Democracy\">prima facie absurd<\/a>.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">The plot thickens. Kevin McCarthy denies delivering a \u201cclean shot to the kidneys\u201d on Rep. Tim Burchett as alleged payback over Speakership ouster:<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI guess our shoulders hit. I did not run and hit the guy. I \u200cdid not kidney punch him.\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/zQSXXn1O2m\">pic.twitter.com\/zQSXXn1O2m<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Charlie Kirk (@charliekirk11) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/charliekirk11\/status\/1724554050291761165?\">November 14, 2023<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Burchett is still standing by his version \u2063of \u2062events but, again, is using that old dad \u201cnot angry, just disappointed\u201d line on McCarthy.<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u201cHe got me, right in the kidneys. I mean, I\u2019ve had that before,\u201d Burchett\u2063 told Newsman Tuesday. \u201cI\u2019m not going to the hospital or I\u2019m not filing an\u200b ethics \u2063complaint on him.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Burchett went on to say that \u200b <strong>\u201cit\u2019s just who he is, and it\u2019s unfortunate.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u201cThat stated, I pray for him, I pray \u2062for him today,\u201d Burchett said. \u201cI\u2019m not angry with him, I\u2019m disappointed, and I hope he finds some happiness somewhere.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u201cHe\u2019s got $17\u2063 million in security\u200c detail, so I guess \u200bhe can find \u2064some happiness there,\u201d Burchett added, just to throw a bit of acid into the mix.<\/strong><\/p>\n<div class=\"firefly-embed\">\n<\/div>\n<p>In \u2062an appearance on Newsmax the following morning, Burchett continued to reiterate\u200b that he was praying for McCarthy, but emphasized (again, with more than a touch \u2062of acid) that he was ultimately fine.<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u201cI\u2019ve got a 16-year-old daughter, she\u2019s hit me harder, probably,\u201d\u200c Burchett \u200djoked.<\/strong><\/p>\n<div class=\"firefly-embed\">\n<\/div>\n<p>Of course, jokes aside,\u2064 this certainly isn\u2019t an inappropriate reaction to the situation. Yes, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/matt-gaetz-refuses-let-mccarthy-get-away-assault-makes-big-move\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Burchett<\/a> may have taken an \u200balleged physical attack \u2063from a former speaker who\u2019s turned into a \u200cbully \u2014 but from the available evidence, he\u2019s a bit more at peace than McCarthy is, \u2063that\u2019s for sure.<\/p>\n<p>In addition to wide\u2062 elbows in the hallways of Congress, McCarthy has taken to whining about the conservatives who\u2063 deposed him to CNN, thus completing\u2063 the circle of life when it comes to\u200d Republican speakership: A fresh face claims they\u2019re the vanguard of conservative principles, then is surprised that conservatives in the Republican caucus actually expect him to follow through on that decision, then resigns bitterly and gets a job with the media, usually as the token Not That Kind of Republican who is nominally GOP leaning but gives \u2062cover to attacks against actual governing conservatives. We\u2019re not\u200d angry with him, after all.
