George \u2062Santos Faces Expulsion Resolution from\u2063 House Ethics Committee Chairman<\/h2>\n<h3>Unlawful Conduct and Misuse of Campaign Funds<\/h3>\n<blockquote>\n<p>Rep. George Santos \u200b(R-NY) is facing a third attempt to \u200cexpel him from his New York House seat. Ethics\u200c Committee Chairman Michael Guest (R-MS)\u200b has introduced a motion to remove Santos \u200bafter\u200c the committee&#8217;s report revealed\u2063 evidence of his engagement in unlawful conduct that is\u2062 &#8220;beneath the\u2064 dignity&#8221; of \u2064Congress.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Guest filed\u200c the motion on the House floor on Friday, citing &#8220;substantial evidence&#8221; from the Ethics investigation. The report \u2064showed that Santos knowingly violated the law while running for Congress last year and misused campaign funds for personal use.\u2062 While the\u200d report did not recommend \u2063specific action, Guest and other Ethics Committee members believe expulsion is warranted.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>\u201cGiven the intense public scrutiny surrounding Representative Santos and the\u2062 ongoing activity at the DOJ, including indictments, the Ethics Committee decided to finish its work\u2064 without going \u200cthrough a lengthier process that provides for the Committee to make a recommendation \u2063of punishment to the \u200dHouse,&#8221; Guest said in a statement. &#8220;The evidence uncovered in the Ethics Committee\u2019s \u200dInvestigative Subcommittee investigation is more than\u200b sufficient to warrant punishment and the most\u200b appropriate punishment is expulsion. So, separate from the Committee\u200b process and my role as Chairman, I have filed an expulsion resolution.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>The committee released a comprehensive 56-page \u2062report on Thursday, detailing \u200bthe findings of its extensive investigation into Santos. The \u2063report concluded that Santos knowingly filed false or \u200cincomplete reports to\u2064 the\u2062 Federal Election Commission, used campaign funds\u2063 for personal purposes,\u2063 and &#8220;engaged in knowing and willful violations&#8221; of the Ethics in\u2063 Government Act.<\/p>\n<p>The report accuses\u200d Santos of &#8220;blatantly&#8221; stealing funds by deceiving donors into contributing to his campaign, only \u2064to divert the money for his personal benefit. Santos allegedly accomplished this by reporting \u2062fictitious loans to his political committees, enticing donors to make further\u200d contributions.\u2064 However, he used those contributions \u2064as repayments toward his own loans.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>&#8220;He used his connections to high-value donors\u200d and other\u200c political campaigns to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/house-ethics-releases-report-on-santos-investigation-referring-matter-to-doj\/\" title=\"House Ethics releases report on Santos investigation referring matter to DOJ\">obtain additional funds<\/a> for himself\u200b through \u2062fraudulent or otherwise <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/former-ag-barr-accuses-joe-biden-of-lying-to-the-american-people-about-hunters-laptop\/\" title=\"Former AG Barr Accuses Joe Biden of Lying to the American People About Hunter\u2019s Laptop\">questionable business dealings<\/a>,&#8221; the report states. &#8220;And he sustained all of this through a constant series of lies to his constituents, donors, and staff about his background and\u200d experience.&#8221;<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>The \u200cvote on Santos&#8217;s expulsion has not been scheduled yet, \u2063but it is expected to take place when the \u200bHouse returns from\u200d its holiday recess on Nov. \u200b28. A two-thirds majority vote is required to expel a member, meaning at least 290 members\u200b must support the motion if all lawmakers are present and voting.<\/p>\n<p>Santos has already evaded two previous expulsion attempts in the House, including one \u2062initiated by his fellow Republicans \u2063in \u2062New York. However,\u2064 this <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/george-santos-faces-third-expulsion-push-in-the-house\/\" title=\"George Santos faces third expulsion push in the House\">latest effort failed<\/a> last\u200d month as many Republicans and a few Democrats preferred to wait for the investigation to conclude before making\u2063 a decision.<\/p>\n<p>Several\u200b members who previously voted against expulsion have \u200bnow expressed their \u2062support\u200b for it.<\/p>\n<p>Despite the release of the report, Santos maintains his innocence and denounces the investigation as politically\u200d motivated.
