Emails from\u200d the laptop showed<\/a> Hunter had \u201cpursued lucrative\u200c deals\u201d with\u2062 CEFC China Energy Co., a Chinese energy giant\u2064 that operates<\/a> as \u201can arm\u200c of the Chinese Government.\u201d<\/p>\n
As The Federalist\u2019s Jordan\u2062 Boyd reported<\/a>, one \u200cemail obtained\u200b by\u200b the Post showed Hunter describing a business transaction as \u201cinteresting for \u200cme and \u2063my family.\u201d Another listed the\u200c younger Biden as \u201c\u2018Chair \/ Vice Chair depending on agreement with CEFC\u2019 with pay at \u2018850\u2019 and could offer monetary compensation for six people.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThose involved in the email from James Gilliar \u200cof the\u2064 international consulting firm J2cR, including Hunter, were allegedly part of the four people who created a \u2018provisional agreement\u2019 to split 80 percent of the \u2018equity\u2019 of the company \u200dequally with \u201910 for Jim\u2019 and \u201910 held by H \u2062for the big guy,’\u201d Boyd wrote. While \u201cJim\u201d is in\u200b reference to\u2062 Joe\u2019s older brother James Biden<\/a>, \u2063a highly credible confidential human source<\/a> has since corroborated<\/a> that \u201cbig guy\u201d was\u200d a \u2062moniker \u2062used\u200d to refer to \u200cJoe Biden.<\/p>\n
Hunter\u2019s\u2062 dealings with CEFC often involved Ye Jianming, the since-arrested<\/a> head<\/a> of CEFC who \u200bhas ties to\u2063 China\u2019s \u2063military. \u200dIn early 2017, Hunter \u2062worked \u2063for \u2064Ye \u201cas \u200da counselor and adviser\u201d and \u2064was\u200b later hired by\u200c CEFC in September 2017<\/a> to \u200dserve as defense counsel for Chinese \u2062businessman \u200dPatrick Ho, \u201cdespite \u200chis little experience \u200din criminal \u2064defense.\u201d Ho \u2014 who served as Ye\u2019s\u200c \u201ctop\u200c lieutenant\u201d\u2064 and whom Hunter referred<\/a> \u2064 to as \u201cthe f-cking spy chief<\/a> \u200bof China\u201d \u2014 \u2064was\u2063 arrested and later convicted<\/a> by\u200c the Justice Department for bribing the \u200bpresidents of \u200dseveral African countries.<\/p>\n
Bank records obtained<\/a> by\u2062 Iowa Sen. Chuck Grassley\u2019s office indicate\u2064 that Hunter was paid\u200d $1 million\u2064 for representing Ho. According to Yahoo News<\/a>, however, \u201cit is not clear what work, if any,\u200d [Hunter] did for Ho,\u201d with court records of \u2063Ho\u2019s case\u200c \u201cshow[ing] \u200b no indication that Biden or his \u2063law firm at the time \u2026 participated in Ho\u2019s legal defense.\u201d<\/p>\n
A bevy of\u2063 communication records<\/a> released by the House Ways \u200band Means Committee in September included<\/a> a\u00a0December 2018 WhatsApp text\u2064 exchange<\/a> between Hunter and \u2062Hallie Biden \u2014 who was the widow of \u2064Joe\u2019s other son, Beau, \u200dand\u200c dated Hunter\u200b after Beau\u2019s passing \u2014 lamenting\u200b Ho\u2019s arrest and Ye\u2019s \u2062disappearance. The\u200b records also showed how Hunter sold<\/a> the Biden \u201cbrand\u201d to overseas business associates to increase the family\u2019s fortunes. <\/p>\n

But\u200d as additional evidence released by House Republicans has shown, \u200dthe Bidens\u2019 financial \u2062connections with CEFC and its associates\u2062 run\u200c deeper than previously known, and in several cases, further \u2063implicate Joe Biden.\u200d Despite the elder Biden repeatedly denying<\/a> involvement in his family\u2019s foreign business ventures, Hunter\u2019s \u2063communication records indicate that Joe was keenly aware of his son\u2019s overseas financial interests and\u200c served as a primary \u2063force behind the operation. <\/p>\n
A series of July 2017 WhatsApp \u2064messages<\/a> sent by Hunter to Chinese businessman Raymond Zhao show the younger Biden leveraging \u201chis father\u2019s\u200d name and threaten[ing] CEFC executives unless a\u2063 lucrative deal was\u2063 worked out with Ye.\u201d In his messages, Hunter explicitly stated<\/a>, \u201cI\u200d am sitting here with\u2062 my father and\u2063 we would\u200b like to understand why the\u200d commitment made has \u200dnot been fulfilled.\u201d He further threatened to \u200bleverage \u201cthe man sitting next to me and every person he knows\u201d to punish Zhao should he fail\u2064 to follow through on the\u2064 arrangement. <\/p>\n
Within 10 days of that conversation, a CEFC subsidiary poured roughly $5 million<\/a> into a Biden-linked bank account. Bank records<\/a> recently obtained\u200d by House Republicans\u200b show that on the same day, Hunter \u200b\u201ctransferred $400,000 out of [that account] and into his corporation, Owasco P.C.,\u201d before \u200cwiring \u2062$150,000 of these CEFC-tied funds to a company\u200d owned by James and\u200d his wife,\u200b Sara, \u2062who withdrew $50,000 from said company and deposited the money into their personal checking account. Less than a month later, on Sept. 3, 2017, Sara signed a $40,000 check\u200b to Joe, claiming it represented a \u201cloan repayment.\u201d<\/p>\n
As\u200d noted<\/a> by The Federalist\u2019s Margot Cleveland,\u200c \u201cthe $40,000 Joe \u2018the Big Guy\u2019 Biden received was exactly 10 percent \u2063of the $400,000 Hunter Biden \u2062received from CEFC.\u201d <\/p>\n

At a time when China is\u200c becoming increasingly aggressive towards the U.S. and \u2062its allies, Americans need leaders \u2063doing everything in their\u2062 power to stand up for \u2062U.S. interests and limit threats to their security.
