Yet, \u200chis subsequent flight on a private \u200cjet\u200b to San Francisco \u2064emitted over 130,000 pounds of carbon dioxide, a\u200b carbon footprint that would take\u2063 the average American more than four years to produce, according to analysis by the <em>Washington Free Beacon<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>Prior \u200bto his meeting with Xi, Biden stressed the importance of improving America&#8217;s relationship with China. In a joint statement, the United States and China expressed their commitment to addressing the climate crisis. \u200cHowever, Xi\u200d has repeatedly\u2062 failed\u200c to fulfill his promises to reduce emissions.<\/p>\n<p>In 2014, China\u200d unveiled a plan to cap coal \u200cconsumption by 2020, which was praised by then-U.S.\u2064 president Barack Obama.
