Marjorie Taylor Greene&#8217;s (R-GA) impeachment resolution against Homeland \u200bSecurity \u2063Secretary \u2062Alejandro Mayorkas, \u2062but that does not mean they\u2062 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/breaking-nadler-were-not-packing-the-court-were-unpacking-it\/\" title=\"BREAKING: Nadler: \u2018We\u2019re Not Packing The Court. We\u2019re Unpacking It.\u2019\">oppose impeaching<\/a> the Biden administration official.<\/p>\n<p>By a 209-201 tally on Monday, \u200bthe GOP-led chamber sent the impeachment\u2064 resolution to the House Homeland Security Committee, which is already\u200c investigating \u200cMayorkas \u200dfor alleged dereliction of duty over his handling of the border \u2014 a probe that could lead\u200d to impeachment\u200d proceedings in the future.<\/p>\n<p>Eight Republicans joined \u2062with all voting Democrats in supporting the motion, including: Reps. Cliff Bentz (R-OR), Ken Buck (R-CO), John\u2062 Duarte (R-CA), Virginia Foxx\u2063 (R-N.C.), Darrell Issa (R-CA), Tom\u2063 McClintock (R-CA),\u200c Patrick McHenry (R-N.C.), and Mike Turner \u2064(R-OH).<\/p>\n<p>A key point of contention appears to be whether the\u2063 House should have proceeded through &#8220;regular order,&#8221; which is essentially a systematic \u200cprocess of debate \u2063and \u2063voting that also applies to legislation. In\u200c recent years,\u200b political observers\u200b have \u2064bemoaned what they see as the collapse of regular order \u2014 particularly as it relates to \u200cthe appropriations process and a \u200bgrowing number of last-minute scrums to avert a government shutdown.<\/p>\n<p>Greene, who\u2064 often is referred to \u200bas &#8220;MTG,&#8221; contended there was already &#8220;overwhelming evidence&#8221; to quickly impeach Mayorkas and bemoaned how sending her resolution to \u2063the Homeland Security \u200dCommittee \u2063would effectively &#8220;kill&#8221; the impeachment effort. The North Carolina Republican argued the probe\u200b into Mayorkas must be methodical like with how the GOP-led House has chosen to run a corruption-focused\u2062 inquiry against President Joe Biden\u2063 led by multiple committees.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;House \u2064Republicans made clear in our Commitment to \u200cAmerica that we would <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/bob-livingston-the-need-for-regular-order\/\" title=\"Bob Livingston: The Need For Regular Order\">restore regular order<\/a> in Washington \u2014 and that\u2063 means\u2064 putting in \u200dthe work and exposing the\u2064 truth even while some want\u200d to cut corners and do the opposite,&#8221; Foxx said. &#8220;If the \u200cUnited States Senate is to follow our lead and impeach Secretary \u2062Mayorkas as well, we&#8217;d better do things\u200d by the book from the get-go \u2014 shortcuts are not an option.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Greene, who is in her second term, has spent \u2064the entirety \u200dof\u2064 her time in Congress\u200d pushing for impeachment of Biden\u200d administration officials.
