Ralph Norman (R-SC) said in a statement. &#8220;I realize Speaker Johnson\u200c has\u2064 an incredibly difficult job and deserves some runway and grace,&#8221; he continued. He did note \u200bthat despite his patience with Johnson, \u2063he wouldn&#8217;t be supporting the spending bill.<\/p>\n<p>Norman\u2063 additionally signaled to Politico that Freedom Caucus members may look\u200c to hold up the measure during procedural votes. \u201cThere is a\u200d sentiment that if we can\u2019t fight anything, then\u2063 let\u2019s just \u200chold up everything,&#8221; he said.<\/p>\n<p>It is \u2062unclear if they will attempt this, though, as even the most steadfast members have expressed the same patience and \u200cgrace with Johnson,\u200c who they acknowledge is in a difficult position. This benefit of\u2062 the doubt could be due to Johnson&#8217;s\u200d lack of distrust that \u200dplagued McCarthy.<\/p>\n<p>Several <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/republican-debate-house-freedom-caucus-member-to-stump-for-nikki-haley-in-spin-room\/\" title=\"House Freedom Caucus member to support Nikki Haley in Republican debate spin room.\">hard-line conservative members<\/a> have indicated a willingness to allow Johnson time to prove himself and get \u2062through the difficult situation he\u200c was handed.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe\u2019s got to find an opportunity to change the dynamics,\u201d \u200bRep. Dan Bishop (R-NC) said. \u201cIf he can\u2019t, he\u2019s \u200cgoing to follow the same path of not \u2064just the immediately previous speaker but a series of them who have not really \u200cproved successful.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Both publicly and privately to the \u2063Republican conference, Johnson has explained \u200cthe struggle when it comes\u200b to spending, with a deadline\u2063 Friday for a government shutdown and \u200bthe\u2062 potential for a large Christmas omnibus bill.
