Climate change, \u200dpolitical division, coups d\u2019\u00e9tat, the global pandemic, Russia\u2019s \u2064ruthless\u200b war on\u2062 Ukraine, Hamas\u2019 \u200bunjustifiable killings, and the Middle East careening toward widespread violence: all that can contribute to a \u2062rising sense of panic.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">But let&#8217;s take a \u200dstep back and gain some perspective. The media&#8217;s constant narrative of doom and gloom is demoralizing and hinders our ability to \u2062make positive change. While war and violence dominate the headlines, the reality \u200dis that battle deaths\u200c are historically low.\u200b The world has actually become more peaceful over \u200brecent decades and centuries, despite\u2062 what the news may suggest.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Murder claims more\u200b lives than war, but even that has \u200bbeen on \u200dthe decline. Climate change reporting also tends to focus on\u200d the negative, ignoring the bigger\u2064 picture\u2063 of progress.\u2064 The truth \u200bis,\u2064 the world has improved dramatically over recent \u2063centuries. Life\u200c expectancy has doubled, literacy rates have soared, and extreme poverty has drastically decreased. We have made incredible\u200d strides thanks to ethical conduct, trust, innovation, and stability.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3>It&#8217;s Time for a \u2062Reality \u200cCheck<\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The constant barrage of negative stories may make us believe that progress is about to end. However, the \u2062evidence shows otherwise. Despite\u200c the\u200b challenges of climate change, the \u200caverage \u2062person is projected to\u200c be much richer by the\u200c end of the century. Fear-driven demands \u2062for immediate action\u2064 may have unintended \u2062consequences and outweigh the benefits.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Instead, we need to \u200bfoster an environment that challenges fearmongering and promotes optimistic \u2063yet critical thinking. We should focus on\u200c efficient policies that have enormous \u2063benefits, such as tuberculosis treatment, land tenure \u200breform, and education technology. These solutions may not grab headlines, but they\u200b can save lives and improve the well-being of millions.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">If we look \u200dbeyond the fear and examine the \u200ddata and the bigger picture, we can see that the world is\u2064 better than it was and is likely to continue improving. This\u2062 progress\u200d may be slow and imperfect, but it is a \u2062step in the\u2063 right direction.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The global\u2064 pandemic has <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/identifying-the-best-solutions-to-the-worlds-most-insidious-problems\/\" title=\"Finding optimal solutions for global challenges.\">undoubtedly caused immense suffering<\/a> and loss.
