Cooney and Ray Hulser during the conversation.<\/p>\n<p>Karl claimed in\u200c his book\u2064 that\u200c <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/trump-legal-team-flips-script-jack-smith-demands-travesty-trial-shown-americans\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Smith<\/a> was coy during the meeting but was cordial\u2064 with the two attorneys.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<h3>The Meeting Details<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Smith,\u200d Cooney, and Hulser \u2062met with \u200bTrump attorneys Blanche and Lauro in \u2062Washington,\u200d D.C.<\/li>\n<li>Smith was coy but cordial during\u2062 the meeting.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>\u201cAfter \u2064some short pleasantries, Smith invited\u200d the Trump lawyers to sit at the conference table \u2062and offered \u200cthem some water to drink,\u201d Karl \u2062wrote.<\/p>\n<p>The ABC News reporter alleged that Lauro made \u200dan appeal \u2063to Smith\u2062 about\u200c why charges against Trump\u200c would be\u2063 a mistake.<\/p>\n<p>At one \u2062point, Karl claimed in the book, Lauro spoke nearly uninterrupted for an\u2062 hour.<\/p>\n<p>Politico reported: \u201cLauro\u2019s presentation featured a now-familiar case \u2014 that Trump genuinely believed\u2062 he won\u200d the [2020 election] and\u2064 was exercising his\u200c First Amendment right to challenge it and raise\u200c questions; that Trump was\u200c following the advice of his\u2064 lawyers; and that he had already \u200dfaced impeachment and\u2063 an \u200b<a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/january-6-panel-shut-down-as-new-republican-led-house-sworn-in\/\" title=\"January 6 Panel Shut down as New Republican-Led House Vown In\">extensive congressional investigation<\/a> over the matter.
