A crowd\u2062 is gathering on the National\u2064 Mall for the swearing-in of the 47th president of the \u200cUnited States. At noon on 20 January \u200d2025, Donald Trump places his hand on a Bible, takes\u2062 the oath of office and delivers an inaugural address with a simple theme: retribution.<\/p>\n<p>This is the nightmare scenario \u2064for millions\u200c of Americans \u200d\u2014\u200d and one that they are <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/bad-news-biden-trump-showing-sizable-leads-multiple-2024-battleground-states\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">increasingly being forced to take \u200bseriously<\/a>. Opinion polls\u200d show Trump\u2064 running\u2064 away\u2064 with the \u2063Republican presidential nomination and narrowly leading Democrat Joe Biden in a hypothetical match-up.\u2062 Political\u200d pundits can offer plenty of caveats but almost\u200b all \u200dagree that the race for the White House next year will be very close.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>This is where Smith and his employer\u2019s left-leaning vibes come through: \u201cThe\u2064 fact that there is a \u200cmore than remote chance of the \u2063twice impeached, quadruply indicted former US president returning to the Oval Office is <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/treasury-sec-yellen-admits-bidens-policies-have-caused-soaring-inflation\/\" title=\"Treasury Sec Yellen Admits Biden\u2019s Policies Have Caused Soaring Inflation\">ringing alarm bells<\/a>.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Hilariously, Smith\u2062 opted to quote\u2062 failed presidential\u200c candidate Hillary Clinton on an episode of \u201cThe\u2063 View\u201d to illustrate how alarmed the masses\u2063 were.<\/p>\n<p>\u201c\u2018I think\u2063 it would be\u200d the end of our country as\u200b we know \u200cit,\u2019 Hillary Clinton, who lost to Trump in 2016, said on the\u2063 ABC talkshow The \u200bView \u200cthis week. \u2018And \u2063I don\u2019t say that lightly,&#8217;\u201d Smith\u2064 wrote.<\/p>\n<p>Oh, brother.<\/p>\n<p>New\u200d flash, Mrs. Clinton: The \u201ccountry as we know it\u201d is <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/bidenomics-americans-falling-behind-auto-payments-record-rate-mass-repossessions-looming\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">not doing too hot<\/a> \u2064right now. Maybe the end \u200bof that would be okay.<\/p>\n<p>But enough fear-mongering\u200d from the Clintons, what could possibly make up something so\u2064 sinister as\u200b to be labeled a \u201crevenge term\u201d?<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTrump has \u200cpromised to pardon January 6 insurrectionists \u200din\u200c a second term.\u200d The Axios\u2062 website has \u2062reported\u2063 on his plan to dismantle the \u2018deep state\u2019\u2062 by\u2062 purging potentially thousands of civil servants and appointing \u2064ideological loyalists. A recent New\u2064 York Times \u2062newspaper article \u2063told how his team wants\u2062 to \u2062fill the White House and government agencies with \u2063aggressive rightwing lawyers who would\u200c not challenge the expansion of presidential power,\u201d Smith explained.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s funny\u200c because\u200c if you break that down for a conservative (or even moderate \u2062or \u200cLibertarian) here\u2019s what they\u2064 would hear: \u2063\u201cTrump\u2063 is going\u2063 to \u2062free\u2063 overly-punished and incarcerated Americans, he\u2019s \u2062going to dismantle\u200c the \u200c\u2018deep state\u2019 (that one was easy\u200b to translate), \u200dand he doesn\u2019t want to be stymied by\u200d nosy little pencil-pushers haranguing \u2063him every step of the way.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>That all sounds great, honestly. (The \u2063Guardian\u2019s article includes\u200b a\u2064 lot of \u2063genuinely questionable stuff Trump is \u2064purporting to do, but \u2064everything is couched with \u201cdiscussing how\u201d or \u201cconsidering \u200cinvoking\u201d-type qualifier.)<\/p>\n<p>Smith would \u200dthen quote Allan Lichtman, a history \u2062professor in Washington.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt would be a disaster for America,\u201d Lichtman said. \u201cHe\u2019s\u200d already made it very clear that his \u2064second term \u200dis going to be a revenge term. He\u2019s \u2064going to use the power of government to\u200d persecute and prosecute his enemies and to cement his \u200down power, or \u200cat least\u2063 the \u2063power\u200c of\u200b his allies and cronies.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe\u2019s already shown \u200dhe has no respect for the law or for the traditions of\u200c American\u200d democracy and\u200b so a second Trump term would be very frightening.\u2064 The overwhelming consensus of scientists is that we are getting close to\u200b the point of no return on climate\u2064 change and \u2064four years of\u200d Trump would be a disaster for the planet. He\u2062 wants to drill and dig \u200dand\u2062 burn.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Again,\u200b for most Americans, drilling \u200band\u200d digging\u200c to bring down \u2063the excruciating cost at the gas pump would probably\u2064 be a good thing.<\/p>\n<p>Now, to be\u2064 completely fair, this all brings to mind\u200d an \u200buncomfortable truth: Trump didn\u2019t accomplish nearly what he needed \u200dor wanted to do in his first term.<\/p>\n<p>Due in no small\u2063 part to those nosy\u2063 little pencil-pushers,\u200c Trump \u2062had\u2064 much of his agenda stymied in his first presidential term.\u200c Government bureaucracy and thick, red tape hampered Trump virtually \u200canytime he tried to enact \u201cAmerica \u200dFirst\u201d legislature.<\/p>\n<p>If things are to be different and more effective in \u2062his second\u2064 rodeo, some of these oh-so-scary changes may be\u2064 necessary.<\/p>\n<p>Because\u2062 if\u2062 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/joy-behar-issues-utterly-insane-challenge-trump-go-ahead-try\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Trump<\/a> is really\u200b going to\u200b drain the swamp,\u200d finish \u200csecuring\u200c the border, and bring this economy back to \u2064its former glory, \u2063he simply can\u2019t be hamstrung government muck.<\/p>\n<p>(And \u2062to be clear, this writer isn\u2019t worried about any sort of\u200c dictatorial\u200b takeover like \u200cthe left is because of a novel <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/trumps-got-big-plans-if-hes-elected-in-2024-its-already-being-called-his-revenge-term\/\" title=\"Trump's Got Big Plans If He's Elected in 2024 - It's Already Being Called His 'Revenge Term'\">political concept \u200bcalled \u201cchecks<\/a> and balances.\u201d)<\/p>\n<p>Look,\u200d if Trump\u2064 were to get\u2063 a grade on his first term, you have to give\u2062 him an \u201cI\u201d for \u201cincomplete.\u201d Trump still \u200dhas a lot of \u2064work left to do.<\/p>\n<p>That\u2019s why it\u2019s \u2064so important to \u200bmake sure he gets that second term, no matter how much the\u2062 left wants to kick and scream and cry about it.<\/p>\n<p> <\/p>\n<h2> Why does the author caution\u2064 against labeling Trump&#8217;s potential\u200c second term as a \u200c&#8221;revenge term&#8221; and emphasize the importance of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/israel-hamas-war-the-bigger-picture\/\" title=\"Israel-Hamas Conflict: A Broader Perspective\">understanding multiple perspectives<\/a> in discussions about Trump<\/h2>\n<p><span>  S, anyone who opposed him, and anyone he perceives as a threat to his authority. \u200bIt would be a complete disregard for the principles of democracy and the rule of law.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Again,\u2062 the biased language\u200c is\u200c palpable. It\u2019s worth \u2064mentioning \u2064that this is an opinion \u2064piece, \u200cnot\u2063 news reporting, \u2064but it\u2019s still important to recognize the underlying agenda.<\/p>\n<p>So, we\u2019ve established that \u2062Trump\u2019s hypothetical\u200d second term \u200bis being dubbed \u2064a \u201crevenge term.\u201d But what would this\u2064 revenge actually entail? The article goes on to provide a laundry list of supposed actions Trump\u200d intends \u2064to take,\u2063 such\u2062 as\u2063 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/ted-cruz-manages-to-trigger-leftists-by-doing-something-millions-of-americans-do-every-year\/\" title=\"Ted Cruz Manages To Trigger Leftists by Doing Something Millions of Americans Do Every Year\">targeting political opponents<\/a> and purging the \u2063government\u200b of perceived disloyalty. But when you remove the sensationalism and look at the core of the \u200cissues, it\u2019s clear that these actions can also\u2063 be interpreted as \u200defforts to\u2063 restore transparency, accountability, and loyalty within the\u200c government.<\/p>\n<p>Is there a possibility that Trump would use his power to settle scores?\u2062 Perhaps.\u200b But \u200dlet\u2019s not pretend\u2062 that this is something unique to him.\u200d Politicians\u200b of all stripes have used their \u2062positions to exact revenge and\u2063 silence opposition in the past. It\u2019s a sad reality of politics.<\/p>\n<p>The article concludes with a\u200c chilling warning: \u201cA \u200dsecond Trump\u200b term \u2062would\u200d be a dark \u2064chapter in American history, one \u2062that would \u2062fundamentally \u2064alter the fabric of our democracy and \u2063our standing in the world.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>But isn\u2019t that the \u2064whole point of democracy?
