Marsha Blackburn\u200c of Tennessee managed to\u200d pull down the curtain and have the last laugh.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.judiciary.senate.gov\/committee-activity\/hearings\/11\/09\/2023\/executive-business-meeting\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">hearing<\/a> was ostensibly\u2064 about Democrats \u2063ganging up \u2064on Supreme\u200b Court Justice Clarence \u2064Thomas and\u200b his relationships with real estate magnate Harlan Crow and Leonard\u200c Leo, co-chairman of\u200d the \u200c <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/desantis-prevails-dems-2-year-battle-supreme-court-appointee-says-american-dream\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Federalist Society<\/a>, a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/if-trump-wins-white-house-he-wont-be-able-to-pardon-himself-in-georgia-and-neither-can-the-governor\/\" title=\"If Trump wins, he can't pardon himself in Georgia, nor can the Governor.\">conservative \u2064judicial group<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The\u2063 top\u200d agenda\u2062 item was \u201cAuthorization\u200c for Subpoenas Relating to the Supreme Court Ethics Investigation.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Dick Durbin,\u200d an\u2063 Illinois Democrat, had requested a vote to subpoena Crow and \u200dLeo, saying they were \u201ccentral players in the ethics\u2064 challenge facing the court.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>However, the farce \u200dended more quickly than Durbin would have liked, thanks to the threats of counter-subpoenas by Republicans \u2014\u200d the most pointed coming from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/ex-clinton-staffers-vile-attack-gop-sen-marsha-blackburn-inbred-racist-trash\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Blackburn<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>In addition to promising to seek subpoenas of several individuals related\u200d to a book scandal \u2062involving Obama-appointed Justice Sonya Sotomayor, she also threatened to open a\u2064 Pandora\u2019s box \u200bin the form of the flight logs from late\u2062 alleged sex \u2063trafficker and hyper-connected billionaire <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/rfk-jr-explains-went-jeffrey-epsteins-private-jet-1993\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Jeffrey Epstein<\/a>.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>\u201cSince we\u2019re in \u200bthe\u200c business of\u200b issuing \u200csubpoenas now, here are \u2064a few more that I\u2019ve filed. A subpoena to Jeffrey Epstein\u2019s estate \u200cto provide the flight\u200d logs for his private plane,\u201d Blackburn said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cGiven the numerous allegations of human trafficking and sexual abuse surrounding Mr. Epstein, I think it is very important that we identify everybody who was on that plane and how many trips they took on\u2064 that plane and\u2064 the destinations \u200bto which they arrived,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<h3>Others targeted by the senator\u2019s subpoenas, according to her remarks:<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Health and Human Services Secretary <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/watch-gop-sen-presses-becerra-mother-replaced-term-birthing-person-biden-budget\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Xavier Becerra<\/a> regarding 85,000 illegal immigrant minors his department had lost track of.<\/li>\n<li>The Department of Justice for its cancellation of a program aimed at tracking down <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/us-tech-giant-hired-apparent-chinese-spy-gave-vast-access-databases-now-disappeared\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Chinese \u2062spies<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>Former \u200cspecial counsel Robert Mueller\u2019s staff regarding \u201cpolitical \u200bdonations and participation\u201d amid the Russian collusion \u200cprobe.<\/li>\n<li>DOJ \u2063and \u2062the Federal Trade Commission for documents related to their efforts \u200bto silence conservative\u200b speech \u2064on social media.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Perhaps unsurprisingly, the meeting\u200c was adjourned without subpoenas.<\/p>\n<p>Of course, the big enchilada in Blackburn\u2019s airing of \u2062subpoena grievances was that of the flight logs regarding those who took\u2062 trips on Epstein\u2019s so-called <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/uk-outlet-runs-pictures-grinning-bill-clinton-sex-slave-epsteins-pimp-lolita-express\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Lolita\u200c Express<\/a>, which carried Epstein\u2019s connected friends and,\u2062 allegedly, some of the girls that the financier was\u200c sexually trafficking.<\/p>\n<p>Perhaps most infamously, former President \u2063William Clinton said he \u2064took only four trips \u200baboard the plane. Records later \u2064showed \u2062that Bill <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/judge-rules-unseal-documents-may-reveal-jeffrey-epsteins-relationship-clintons\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">had\u2063 made over 20 trips on\u200c the aircraft<\/a>. But who\u2019s counting? Certainly\u2064 not Epstein\u200b (anymore).<\/p>\n<p>Of course,\u200b Democrats will bray about \u200cthis being\u2064 a sideshow.
