It does, however, provide a perspective unavailable from any \u200dother source.<\/p>\n<p>With this in\u2064 mind, Home Depot co-founder Bernie Marcus\u2019\u2063 endorsement of former President Donald Trump \u200dfor the 2024 Republican presidential nomination commands our attention.<\/p>\n<p>Marcus, 94, entered the world \u200con May 12, 1929 \u2014 two months and eight days into the presidency of Herbert Hoover. Less\u200d than six months \u2062later, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/home-depot-co-founder-makes-2024-endorsement-for-president\/\" title=\"Home Depot Co-Founder Makes 2024 Endorsement for President\">infamous stock market crash signaled<\/a> the onset of a \u2063<a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/taiwan-is-joe-bidens-carter-conundrum\/\" title=\"Biden faces a dilemma with Taiwan like Carter did.\">global economic catastrophe<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.forbes.com\/profile\/bernard-marcus\/?sh=339e15a77de6\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">multibillionaire\u2019s<\/a> endorsement of Trump, therefore, blended the political with \u200bthe autobiographical. It reminded readers of the\u200c values for which Americans once stood and now must reclaim.<\/p>\n<p>Headlined \u201cHigh Stakes \u2062and a Simple Choice,\u201d Marcus\u2019 11-paragraph <a href=\"https:\/\/www.realclearpolitics.com\/articles\/2023\/11\/09\/high_stakes_and_a_simple_choice_150037.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">appeal<\/a> for Republicans to unite around <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/letitia-james-trying-nail-trump-losses-no-one-ever-suffered-former-fed-prosecutor-says\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Trump<\/a> \u2063 appeared Thursday on\u200d RealClearPolitics.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI am 94\u2063 years old and \u200blike many of you, I am exhausted by politics and saddened by what I see happening to America,\u201d Marcus began.<\/p>\n<p>He then \u200bcited urban lawlessness, open borders, failing schools, struggling families and a gargantuan, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/70-republicans-reward-weaponized-fbi-300m-gift-names\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">weaponized<\/a> federal government. Freedom and the American Dream cannot survive these circumstances.<\/p>\n<p>The multibillionaire then explained that he stands as living proof of what this rare\u2062 country means.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI was born here and can give testimony about The \u2062American Dream. \u2063I lost my job and\u200b was broke when I was 48 years old,\u201d he recalled.<\/p>\n<p>Alas, such a thing seems unlikely\u2064 in President <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/can-biden-even-dress-video-shows-supporter-helping-put-shirt\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Joe Biden\u2019s<\/a> America.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe state of America\u200b today, especially record \u2063inflation,\u200c government over-regulation, and \u2063the problems of\u200b the \u200clast\u200c three years, would prevent my partners and I from succeeding as we have,\u201d Marcus wrote.<\/p>\n<p>Thus, we must reject socialism and the vision of \u2063the current political elite.<\/p>\n<p>Next, Marcus turned\u200c to his endorsement\u200c in the GOP primary race.<\/p>\n<p>At first, he addressed his comments to \u200dfellow affluent Republicans, some of whom seem to think themselves above the\u2064 brand of politics \u200d <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/trump-stunned-crowd-boos-says-florida-politicians-name-going\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Trump<\/a> represents. Perhaps they regard \u2062the daily struggles of\u2064 ordinary Americans as\u2064 a theoretical or moral problem \u2014 no real \u2063concern of theirs.<\/p>\n<p>Either way, Marcus \u2062\u2014 a longtime supporter of Trump\u2019s who <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2017\/05\/21\/politics\/bernie-marcus-donor-profile\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">donated $7 million<\/a> \u2062 to his 2016 campaign \u2014\u2062 acknowledged their hesitation to back the 45th president. But the\u200c billionaire businessman advised them to get over it.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI, too, have been\u2063 frustrated\u200b at times, but we cannot\u2064 let his brash style \u2064be the \u2063reason we walk away from \u2062his \u2063otherwise excellent stewardship of the United States during\u2063 his first term \u2064in office,\u201d Marcus \u200cwrote.<\/p>\n<p>Who can deny the truth of that phrase,\u200c \u201cexcellent stewardship\u201d?<\/p>\n<p>Then, Marcus made\u200b the strongest possible case for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/trump-reveals-whether-consider-tucker-carlson-vp\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Trump<\/a>, not as a practical political calculation \u200dbut as a qualitative preference.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI endorse him\u200c not only\u200c because he has the best \u200bchance of winning\u200b the general election but\u2063 because he is the best person to take on and dismantle the administrative state that \u2063is \u200dstrangling America,\u201d Marcus\u2063 wrote.<\/p>\n<p>Finally, \u200bhaving argued that Americans would\u200d be freer and more prosperous under Trump, Marcus added that the world \u2014 \u2064now teetering on \u200bthe brink of\u2062 a \u2063calamitous conflict \u2014 would be safer and more peaceful.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMany, including \u2063myself, believe that <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/gal-gadot-guy-nattiv-screen-idf-footage-hamas-atrocities-hollywood-vips-raise-awareness\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Hamas<\/a> would not have unleashed \u2063its \u2063barbarism and cruelty on Israel \u200bif Donald Trump\u200b was our president today,\u201d he wrote.<\/p>\n<p>In short, Marcus argued that Republicans should rally around \u2062Trump even before\u200b the first primary votes \u200care cast.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cLet\u2019s face it: Donald Trump is going to win the nomination,\u201d he wrote. \u201cYou \u2062should be doing all you can to ensure his winning the general election.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI urge the Republican National\u2062 Committee to end the Republican\u200d debates that only benefit ad makers and \u2064political consultants. They are unproductive and embarrassing,\u201d Marcus concluded.<\/p>\n<p>Fantastic wealth and advanced age, of course, do not in themselves command total deference. After all, rich old people say and do foolish \u200bthings all the time.<\/p>\n<p>Nonetheless, when mingled with the natural respect we owe to elders, a\u2063 powerful message \u2063reads as exponentially more powerful, particularly when that message comes from someone\u200d who has lived nearly \u200ba century.<\/p>\n<p>In \u2064reflective moments, I have often thought about\u2062 the\u200c gradual disappearance of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/major-shift-happening-european-conflict-situation-not-seen-since-world-war-ii\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">World \u200cWar II<\/a> \u2062 generation. Their loss\u200c seems incalculable, \u200bas\u2062 if our rapid national descent into madness could only have occurred without them here.<\/p>\n<p>Thus, Marcus\u2019 endorsement of Trump should strike us as a plea \u2063from the past.
