They are\u2064 also\u2064 far behind him \u2062in the early states,\u2064 including\u2062 Iowa, which votes in January.<\/p>\n<p>The theory \u2064has been that it will take Republican primary voters a \u200cwhile to pay serious attention to\u2062 the \u200drace. But soon it will \u200cbe Thanksgiving, Christmas, \u2064and New\u2062 Year\u2019s.<\/p>\n<p>As Ronald Reagan might ask,\u2063 \u201cIf not now, \u200dwhen?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL) \u2062was solid\u2062 and disciplined, mostly staying above the fray but landing his occasional \u200bjabs against the losing\u2063 culture that has afflicted the party since Trump \u2014 who\u2019s become a different guy \u200bsince 2016! \u2062\u2014 lost his\u200b mojo.<\/p>\n<p>Former\u200c U.N. Ambassador Nikki Haley was forceful in her defense \u2063of Israel. The only thing that makes \u200cher madder \u200bthan Iran is \u2064entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy, who went after her footwear and foreign policy throughout the evening.<\/p>\n<p>Sen. Tim Scott (R-SC) told \u200dstories about \u2063his life and tried to stay within the confines of \u2064the debate\u2019s time limits.\u200d But he was the least ambiguous about his preference \u200cfor\u200c a federal\u200c abortion policy, taking up \u200bthe\u2063 space to\u2062 the right of \u2063Trump \u200band Haley on an issue that has \u200cvexed Republicans at\u200b the ballot box since Roe v. Wade was overturned.<\/p>\n<p>Former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie\u200b is the tough-talking guy \u2063who says\u2062 he has actually done everything \u200cthe\u200b other candidates \u2064are talking about, tossing truth bombs about Trump\u2019s\u2063 legal \u2064woes as if he just reinvaded Iraq.<\/p>\n<p>But with few exceptions, all of \u200dthese things have been done before. None\u2062 of them seem to have made much of an impact on the race.<\/p>\n<p>The snap polls will\u200c probably\u2064 look\u200d good\u200b for DeSantis and\u200b Haley. Republican respondents will also dutifully\u200d reply that they were disappointed that Trump was a no-show yet again.<\/p>\n<p>But will anything \u2062be different 72 hours later?<\/p>\n<p>Haley has seen \u2064some \u2062upward movement in the polls since the debates started, though not enough \u200cto bypass DeSantis \u200cconvincingly, much less overtake Trump.<\/p>\n<p>DeSantis has yet \u200bto really dominate a debate like the front-runner\u2064 onstage, but it is \u200chard to say any of these events have\u200b really hurt him either.<\/p>\n<p>Still, Trump continues to\u200c have the top tier \u2062all to himself,\u2062 and the hour is getting \u200blate.<\/p>\n<p>The main thing the contestants have\u200d to hope has changed\u2064 is the interest level in a substantive debate.<\/p>\n<p>None of them\u200d stooped to\u2063 Trump\u2019s level with personal insults, though Ramaswamy\u2019s \u200ddigs at\u200d Haley\u2063 on war and wardrobe\u200c may have \u2063worn as well as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/republican-debate-only-one-thing-matters-after-gop-brawl-in-miami\/\" title=\"Republican debate: Only one thing matters after GOP brawl in Miami\">ill-fitting high heels<\/a> and prompted the ex-ambassador\u200c to mutter that he was \u201cscum.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The\u200c NBC moderators did a better job of maintaining control and decorum than\u2062 was seen at previous debates,\u200c even if they \u200cweren\u2019t Tucker Carlson, Joe Rogan, or Greg Gutfeld. \u200cThe smaller field\u2063 also helped.<\/p>\n<p>If Republican voters, reeling from the whiplash\u2062 of seeing \u2064President \u200cJoe\u200d Biden\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/jen-psaki-laughs-over-kamala-harris-abysmal-approval-rating-its-not-a-secret-weve-seen-some-drop\/\" title=\"Jen Psaki Laughs Over Kamala Harris\u2019 Abysmal Approval Rating: \u2018It\u2019s Not A Secret, We\u2019ve Seen Some Drop\u2019\">dismal poll numbers<\/a> and then their own party\u2019s\u200c disappointing off-year election\u200c results, were looking for change, maybe they found\u2064 something they liked.<\/p>\n<p>So far, however, \u200cthe debates have mainly served to move \u2064a\u2063 second\u2064 candidate into double digits and spark a Vivek \u200cboomlet that seems to have already faded.<\/p>\n<p>DeSantis \u200cmade the case he was a Trump who would actually keep his promises. But hasn\u2019t he done so \u2063before? The taxing remittances to make\u200b Mexico\u200b really pay for the border wall was a nice \u2063touch.<\/p>\n<p>Haley has argued the \u200cworld \u200bis on fire and the\u200c president who\u2062 sent her to the United Nations is no longer the right\u2062 man to put it out. She has said such \u2064things \u200bbefore, but perhaps the Oct. 7\u2062 Hamas attack\u2063 on Israel,\u2063 followed by weeks of antisemitic incidents on\u2064 college \u2063campuses here at home, raises \u2064the stakes.<\/p>\n<p>One thing is for certain: The \u2064status quo benefits\u200d Trump because\u200d he \u200dis\u2063 the leader\u200b of the race.<\/p>\n<p>In fact, the debates up to this point have \u2063failed to \u200cestablish a race for anything but second place.<\/p>\n<p>CLICK HERE TO \u2064READ MORE FROM THE WASHINGTON EXAMINER<\/p>\n<p>Every candidate at this debate is hoping that either the base gets\u2064 tired of Trump or the judges in one of his trials do.<\/p>\n<p>There\u2019s still \u2062time before Iowa, but not much.<\/p>\n<p> <\/p>\n<h2> With time running \u200bout and the clock ticking, will any\u200c of the candidates \u2063be able to make a breakthrough and significantly \u200bchange the dynamics of the race<\/h2>\n<p><span>  Tting late \u2063for the other candidates to make \u2063a significant breakthrough. Despite their efforts on the debate stage, the question remains: did anything change?<\/p>\n<p>It is no secret\u200c that all \u2062five candidates on the \u200dstage in Miami needed a \u200c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/big-play-capability-the-early-season-key-for-trabuco-hills\/\" title=\"Trabuco Hills' early season success hinges on their big-play ability.\">game-changing moment<\/a>. They\u200b are all trailing behind \u2062former President Donald Trump, who maintains a strong lead \u200din the national \u2063polling averages.\u200b Additionally, they are far behind him\u2064 in the early states, including Iowa, which will hold its primary elections in \u2062January.<\/p>\n<p>There has been a belief that Republican primary voters will \u200btake time to seriously consider their options. However, with Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year&#8217;s approaching, time is \u2062running out. He mostly stayed above the fray but took occasional jabs at the losing culture that has plagued the \u2064party since Trump&#8217;s post-2016 transformation. Former U.N. Ambassador Nikki Haley passionately defended Israel, displaying her unwavering stance on the \u200cmatter. She had to face \u2062criticism from entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy, who questioned her foreign policy decisions.<\/p>\n<p>Senator Tim Scott \u2063(R-SC) shared personal stories about his life and adhered to \u200bthe debate&#8217;s time \u200blimits. He\u2063 made it clear that he supports\u200b a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/tim-scott-not-at-all-surprised-by-media-and-left-embracing-moderate-nikki-haley\/\" title=\"Tim Scott is unsurprised by the media and the Left's support for \"moderate\" Nikki Haley.\">federal abortion policy<\/a>, taking a stance to\u200c the right of Trump and Haley on this contentious issue that has long \u200cdivided Republicans.<\/p>\n<p>Former \u200bNew Jersey Governor\u2062 Chris Christie took on the role of the\u200d tough-talking candidate, boasting\u200c about his achievements and shedding light\u200b on Trump&#8217;s legal woes with a matter-of-fact attitude.<\/p>\n<p>Despite these standout \u2064performances, it appears that most of what\u2062 was said and done has already been seen before. Nothing seems to have significantly impacted the race.<\/p>\n<p>Snap polls conducted immediately after the\u200b debate may \u200dfavor DeSantis and Haley. Republicans will \u2064likely express disappointment at Trump&#8217;s absence once \u200cagain. However, the question remains:\u200d will \u2063anything be\u200c different \u200c72 hours later?<\/p>\n<p>Haley has seen\u200b some upward movement in the polls since \u200bthe debates began, but not \u200cenough to convincingly\u2063 surpass DeSantis, let alone\u200c topple\u2064 Trump. DeSantis, although yet to completely dominate a debate like the front-runner on\u200b stage, has \u2062managed to maintain his position\u200b without sustaining any significant damage.<\/p>\n<p>Nevertheless, Trump \u200bcontinues \u200dto dominate the top tier, with the other candidates struggling to\u2064 catch up. The clock is ticking, and it is becoming increasingly difficult for them to \u200bmake a breakthrough.
