A man on the street is arrested for calling someone named Nikolay a moron, as the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/the-fact-checkers-have-been-monitoring-my-podcast-and-they-dont-like-what-theyve-heard\/\" title=\"Fact checkers are monitoring my podcast and disapprove of its content.\">police officer assumes<\/a> he&#8217;s referring to the \u2064Tzar, Nicholas II. The man protests, claiming he meant a different Nikolay, but the cop insists that any mention of &#8220;moron&#8221; must\u200d be about \u2062the Tzar. Whether this story is true or\u200b not, it reveals \u2062a fundamental truth about thugs\u2063 and autocrats: the more power \u200bthey have, the more unintentionally funny they become.<\/p>\n<p>Today, we see this phenomenon everywhere, especially on the Left. The death of humor on the Left has inadvertently turned leftists into some of\u200c the funniest people on the planet. \u2064Case in point, I \u200brecently received an email from \u200bsomeone named Jack Brewster, \u2063who works for a \u200bcompany called NewsGuard. They claim\u2063 to assess the\u200c credibility and transparency of news organizations and podcasts. Jack demanded that\u200c I answer a series of questions so they can rank my show poorly and censor me\u2063 on \u200csocial media.<\/p>\n<h3>The Best Email Question Ever<\/h3>\n<p>Now, let&#8217;s \u200cget to \u2062the best part of Jack&#8217;s email. He asked about a segment on &#8220;The Matt Walsh \u2063Show&#8221; where I allegedly claimed that Michelle \u2063Obama is a man. The question itself is a masterpiece of unintentional humor. Jack \u2062wrote\u2062 out the entire paragraph from the show, desperately trying to prove that I made this claim. \u200cIt&#8217;s a joy to read,\u2062 and \u200cI want to share it with you:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>&#8220;The Aug. 24, 2023, \u200bepisode of &#8216;The Matt Walsh Show&#8217; featured \u200da bonus special segment in which Walsh stated: &#8216;Michelle Obama is a man. \u2026 \u200bI am increasingly convinced there\u2019s some validity out there. No, I really am. Look, some people have looked into this\u2026&#8217;\u2064 Shapiro interjected to say, &#8216;For God\u2019s sake, Matt. You\u2019re the only \u200cone in America who knows that women can\u2019t be men. Stop it.&#8217; Walsh replied, &#8216;I don\u2019t know. Look, and some information has come out about [former President Barack] Obama recently that also confirms what we were told was once a conspiracy theory\u2026&#8217; Shapiro interjected again to say, &#8216;He [Barack Obama] did\u200c like dudes. He did like dudes. That is a thing he wrote\u2026which is a weird thing to\u200d write to a girlfriend, by the way.&#8217; Walsh later asked, &#8216;Why are we dodging this question [about Michelle Obama\u2019s gender]?&#8217; to\u200d which Klavan\u2064 responded, &#8216;Yeah, Michelle is obviously a man.&#8217; Shapiro replied, &#8216;Oh God, guys. Please stop. She is not a man. She\u2019s a woman\u2026 a very bad woman by the way.'&#8221;<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Isn&#8217;t that just hilarious? Jack Brewster, the fact-checking \u2063savant, genuinely wants to know why I and my colleagues claimed that\u200c Michelle Obama\u200c is a man. It&#8217;s a question that brings joy to my day, and I hope it brings joy to yours \u2063as \u2063well.<\/p>\n<h3>Context and Fact-Checking<\/h3>\n<p>Instead of addressing\u200c the specific sources and evidence I relied on for my remarks, let&#8217;s \u2064provide some context. First of all, Jack got \u200ba \u2064couple of obvious facts wrong. The comments about Michelle Obama were made\u200d on a Daily Wire\u200d &#8220;Backstage&#8221; episode, not on my show,\u2064 and they were made on August 23rd, not August 24th. \u200cIt&#8217;s clear that NewsGuard\u2062 doesn&#8217;t care \u2063about accuracy.<\/p>\n<p>But let&#8217;s not get caught up in\u2062 the details. The segment in \u200cquestion\u200b was meant to be a fun game, not a serious discussion. It&#8217;s absurd to fact-check and cross-reference every statement made during a lighthearted debate night. If you watch the clip, you&#8217;ll see the humor and sarcasm in our remarks.\u2062 It&#8217;s a shame Jack Brewster can&#8217;t appreciate that.<\/p>\n<p>Jack \u2064also raised other questions, such as my\u200c statement about\u200c COVID shots for six-month-old children. He cited studies that supposedly prove the safety and necessity of these shots. However, upon closer examination, these studies do\u2063 not provide conclusive evidence. \u2064They are tentative assessments \u200cbased on limited data.<\/p>\n<h3>The Absurdity of\u2064 NewsGuard&#8217;s Criteria<\/h3>\n<p>One \u2064of\u200b the most amusing aspects of NewsGuard&#8217;s fact-checking is their criteria for rating a podcast. They want to determine if a podcast is dominated by one-sided opinion. Jack Brewster asked if my \u2064podcast \u2064falls into this category, citing examples\u200b of me expressing my opinion without inviting someone to argue with me.<\/p>\n<p>What&#8217;s funny is that when other outlets present both sides of an issue, NewsGuard criticizes them for doing so. They want to suppress any opinion that doesn&#8217;t align with their own. It&#8217;s\u200b a lose-lose situation. They want everyone to\u200d parrot their side, and if you don&#8217;t, they&#8217;ll do \u200deverything they can to censor you.<\/p>\n<p>NewsGuard is not just some corrupt Left-wing blog. It&#8217;s a powerful organization backed by the government and Big Pharma. They have affiliations with Microsoft, the Defense Department, the World Health Organization,\u200b and the State Department. Their goal is to suppress opinions that\u2063 the Ruling Class disapproves of.<\/p>\n<h3>The Fight Against Censorship<\/h3>\n<p>We need to go beyond mocking organizations like NewsGuard and come up with a real solution to combat their censorship. They \u200bare winning because they have the field\u2062 to themselves. There is no equivalent\u200b effort on the Right to smear leftists with fraudulent fact-checks.<\/p>\n<p>But for now,\u2062 let&#8217;s enjoy the absurdity and \u200chumor \u2063of NewsGuard&#8217;s fact-checking attempts. I had a delightful \u2062exchange with Jack Brewster, who couldn&#8217;t define \u2063the word &#8220;man&#8221; when asked to do so. It&#8217;s all very funny, but\u2063 also deeply disturbing \u2062when we consider the power these organizations hold.<\/p>\n<p> <\/p>\n<h2> What impact does the rise of cancel culture and hypersensitivity to offensive remarks have on \u200bthe left&#8217;s ability \u200bto embrace humor and \u200csatire?<\/h2>\n<p><span>  The \u2064nuance and humor in the segment.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>&#8220;The Aug. 23, 2023, episode of the Daily Wire&#8217;s\u200d &#8216;Backstage&#8217;\u2062 featured a \u2064lighthearted conversation between Matt Walsh, Ben Shapiro, and Andrew Klavan. They allow us to explore sensitive topics and question societal norms. \u2063However, in recent years, there has been a noticeable shift in the left&#8217;s ability to embrace humor and satire.\u2062 The rise of cancel culture and the hypersensitivity to\u2064 offensive remarks has created an atmosphere where any attempt at humor\u2064 is met with outrage and demands for censorship.<\/p>\n<p>This is detrimental not only\u200d to comedians and satirists who\u2063 rely\u200d on \u200bpushing boundaries for \u2062their \u2064art \u2062but\u2062 to the left&#8217;s own ability\u200c to connect with a broader audience. When humor becomes diluted\u200d or eliminated altogether, \u200cit reflects a lack of confidence \u2062in one&#8217;s own ideas and an inability to engage in meaningful dialogue. It also results in the unintentional consequence of making those who engage \u200bin cancel culture appear humorless and \u200dauthoritarian.<\/p>\n<p>As\u200d the saying goes, &#8220;laughter is the \u200dbest medicine.&#8221; It brings people together, breaks down barriers, and fosters empathy. Humor can be\u200b a powerful tool for \u2063social \u2063commentary and political critique.\u2064 But when it is stifled or \u2063condemned, we lose\u2062 an important \u200bavenue for free\u200d expression and the ability to challenge oppressive systems.<\/p>\n<p>So, how do we \u2063reclaim humor on the left? It starts with a willingness to be self-reflective and acknowledge the unintended \u2063consequences\u200c of cancel culture. It \u2064requires an understanding that humor can\u200b be used to challenge power structures\u200b and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/the-centers-for-disease-controls-lies-have-destroyed-its-legitimacy\/\" title=\"The Centers For Disease Control\u2019s Lies Have Destroyed Its Legitimacy\">encourage critical thinking<\/a>. And most importantly, it necessitates the ability to laugh at ourselves and not take everything\u200b so seriously.<\/p>\n<p>Perhaps if we embrace humor and satire once again, we can bridge the \u2064divide that has grown\u2062 between different ideologies. We can <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/md-gov-hogan-urges-biden-lawmakers-to-work-together-on-covid-19-relief-legislation\/\" title=\"Md. Gov. Hogan urges Biden, lawmakers to work together on COVID-19 relief legislation\">find common ground<\/a> and engage \u2064in meaningful conversations that seek solutions rather than perpetuate division.<\/p>\n<p>In conclusion, the death\u200d of humor on the left is a loss for us all. It is a reflection of the \u200bgrowing intolerance and authoritarian tendencies that \u2062have seeped into our \u200csociety. But it is\u2062 not too late \u200bto reclaim laughter and use it as a powerful tool for change.
