But don&#8217;t worry, they won&#8217;t be as strict \u2063as before.<\/p>\n<p>In certain counties near the liberal hub\u2063 of San Francisco, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/america-first-vaccines-rolling-out-of-michigan-plant-headed-directly-for-american-hospitals\/\" title=\"America First: Vaccines Rolling Out of Michigan Plant, Headed Directly for American Hospitals\">health care workers<\/a>\u200b are being required\u200c to wear masks in healthcare settings,\u2062 according \u200cto the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.latimes.com\/california\/story\/2023-11-08\/bay-area-reinstates-mask-requirements-in-healthcare-settings-will-l-a-follow#:~:text=Most%20San%20Francisco%20Bay%20Area,not%20taken%20that%20same%20step.\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">L.A. Times<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Why the renewed mandates?\u200c Well, it&#8217;s the time of year when respiratory illnesses tend to be at their worst, and there&#8217;s\u200b also the expected late-year \u2063resurgence of COVID-19.<\/p>\n<p>Interestingly, Los\u2062 Angeles County,\u200c with a much larger population \u2062than San Francisco\u2062 County, has not implemented any mask \u200dmandates yet. However, the county&#8217;s Department of Public Health did give health care workers a \u2064choice back in September: get vaccinated or wear\u2064 a mask at\u2064 work.<\/p>\n<p>Dr. Muntu Davis,\u200d the county health officer, stated that a mask mandate is \u200cunlikely unless COVID-related hospital admissions\u200c increase to\u200d about five\u2062 times their current levels.<\/p>\n<p>But don&#8217;t worry, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/mask-mandates-and-vaccine-requirements-reinstated-in-some-counties\/\" title=\"Mask mandates and vaccine requirements reintroduced in select counties.\">current\u2064 hospital admission\u2062 rate<\/a> is far from that threshold.\u2064 In \u200bfact, it hasn&#8217;t been seen\u2063 since\u2063 February \u20632022 during the initial wave of the Omicron variant.<\/p>\n<p>So why is Los Angeles County taking a \u200cdifferent approach? According \u2063to Davis, they \u2064believe that getting healthcare workers vaccinated is the best\u2064 course of action at the moment.<\/p>\n<p>While\u2063 most healthcare workers \u200bare no\u200b longer required to be vaccinated against COVID-19, individual facilities and systems can\u2063 still implement their own mandates if they see fit.<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s worth noting that some\u200b counties in California, including Alameda, Contra Costa, Napa, San Mateo, Sonoma, and Santa Cruz, \u2064have already instituted mask \u2062requirements.
