Bruen. This test requires gun control laws to be based on historical tradition.<\/p>\n<p>In March, the appeals court overturned a sentence against Zackey Rahimi, who had been prohibited from owning a\u2064 gun under a\u2062 federal law from 1994.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>\u201cRahimi, while \u2062hardly a model citizen, is nonetheless among \u2018the people\u2019 entitled to the Second Amendment\u2019s guarantees, all other things equal,\u201d 5th Circuit Judge Cory Wilson wrote in the \u200bcourt\u2019s decision.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>The Biden administration appealed the ruling,\u200b arguing that\u2063 there is <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/starting-pistol-supreme-courts-new-firearms-standard-tested-on-domestic-abusers-owning-guns\/\" title=\"Supreme Court tests new gun ownership standard for domestic abusers.\">strong historical evidence supporting<\/a> the \u2063government&#8217;s ability to disarm dangerous individuals.<\/p>\n<p>According to Courthouse News Service,\u2063 there have been federal and\/or state restrictions on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/newsom-calls-on-supreme-court-to-uphold-ban-on-domestic-abusers-owning-guns\/\" title=\"Newsom urges Supreme Court to maintain ban on domestic abusers owning guns.\">domestic abusers owning guns<\/a> for nearly 30 years.<\/p>\n<p>In its coverage of the arguments, \u2063The New York Times indicated that the justices seemed inclined to uphold the law.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>\u201cSomeone who poses a \u2063risk of domestic violence is \u200cdangerous,\u201d Justice Amy Coney\u200c Barrett stated.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Justice Neil Gorsuch also appeared supportive of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/senate-candidate-eric-greitens-discusses-policies-2a\/\" title=\"Senate candidate Eric Greitens discusses policies, 2A\">restricting gun ownership<\/a> for abusers, noting that there\u200b was a credible threat in the case before the court.<\/p>\n<p>Solicitor General Elizabeth B. Prelogar argued\u2064 that there is a historical precedent for disarming individuals who\u2063 have committed serious criminal conduct\u200d or pose a danger.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>\u201cThroughout \u2063our nation\u2019s history, legislatures \u200chave disarmed those who have committed \u200cserious criminal conduct or whose access to guns poses a danger \u2014 for example, \u2063loyalists,\u200d rebels, minors, individuals with mental illness, felons,\u2064 and drug addicts,\u201d she\u2064 said.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Chief\u2064 Justice John G. Roberts Jr. questioned whether \u2062Rahimi was\u200c dangerous during a discussion\u2063 with federal\u200c public\u200c defender\u200c J.
