Glenn Youngkin (R-VA) to \u2062pursue his presidential ambitions in 2024. \u200bHowever, the dream has now been crushed as Democrats regain control of the Virginia House of Delegates \u200band retain the \u200bstate Senate, races in which\u200c Youngkin heavily campaigned to support\u200d Republicans.<\/p>\n<h3>Democrats Spooked as Biden Shock Poll \u2063and Trump White House Comeback Looms<\/h3>\n<p>&#8220;I see\u200d a real opportunity to propel Virginia into overdrive,&#8221; \u2064Youngkin expressed optimistically\u200b on Tuesday. &#8220;In just 24 months, we\u2064 have witnessed a remarkable shift \u2062from an all-blue state\u2064 to a right-leaning one. Today, we must secure our House and flip the Senate\u200b to complete the work.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Unfortunately, fate had\u200d other plans,\u200c leaving analysts to ponder\u2064 whether the blue-leaning\u2062 nature \u2064of the Virginia electorate, dissatisfaction with Youngkin&#8217;s performance as governor, or his\u2063 strong support for\u200c a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/supreme-court-takes-up-mississippi-abortion-ban-case-that-could-limit-roe-v-wade\/\" title=\"Supreme Court Takes Up Mississippi Abortion Ban Case That Could Limit Roe v. Wade\">15-week abortion ban<\/a> were the deciding factors.<\/p>\n<p>Youngkin emerged as \u200da Hail Mary GOP presidential\u200c candidate following his surprising victory in 2021 and the lackluster performance of non-Donald Trump\u200d Republican campaigns. Consequently, the outcome of keeping the Virginia House and \u2064flipping the Senate carried significant\u2063 weight.<\/p>\n<p>The answer, however, was a resounding \u200dno. If Youngkin still harbors presidential aspirations, he will have to set his sights on 2028.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Even \u2064if these elections had gone well for him, 2024 would \u2062have been a stretch,&#8221; remarked J. Miles Coleman\u2064 from the University of Virginia Center for Politics. &#8220;Some filing deadlines, such as those in New Hampshire, South Carolina, and\u200c Nevada, have already passed. It\u200b was always a long shot, and this outcome \u200dmakes it even more improbable.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Republicans in the state rallied for voter turnout in the traditionally lackluster off-year elections, particularly this year due to Youngkin&#8217;s approval rating and legislative record generating White House speculation. Some Virginia\u2062 Democrats even campaigned\u2062 on their ability to collaborate with the Republican \u2063governor in their 2023 ads.<\/p>\n<p>Coleman emphasized that the \u2063result was\u200c not entirely unfavorable for Youngkin \u2063or his party. Firstly, Democrats\u2063 only secured slim \u200ccontrol of the two legislative chambers. Just six\u200c days before the 2023 \u2064election, four \u2064Democrats running in\u200c battleground state Senate districts received substantial out-of-state donations\u2063 from a nonprofit group supported by Gov. J.B. Pritzker (D-IL).<\/p>\n<p>As in other states, abortion played a significant role in the campaigns. Youngkin pledged to sign a 15-week\u200c abortion limit if Republicans gained control of the\u200c legislature. Meanwhile, Democrats made abortion a central focus of \u200btheir campaign messaging, investing heavily in ad campaigns that criticized the \u2064GOP&#8217;s plans as \u2064&#8221;extreme&#8221; and \u200d&#8221;terrifying.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Youngkin \u200cmade his final appeal on Fox News Tuesday morning, proclaiming that he had rescued the state from Democratic rule and accusing\u2063 the opposing \u2063party of relying \u2062solely on fear tactics to promote abortion.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We \u2062are the party of hope,\u200b while they are the party of \u200bfear.
