Stabile, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.spotlightpa.org\/news\/2023\/11\/victor-stabile-pennsylvania-judicial-retention-2023-electionn\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">a Republican<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>In\u200c its\u200c Facebook post, Northampton \u2064County said, \u201cIt appears that when\u200d a \u2062voter\u200b selects a \u2018Yes\u2019 or a \u2018No\u2019 for one of the candidates\u200b for retention to \u200dthe Pennsylvania Superior Court, the selection is recorded \u2062on\u200d the paper ballot and on the machine for the other candidate.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The\u2064 post stressed \u2064that the judicial retention race was the only\u200c one where\u2062 the issue arose. Also, the \u200bproblem\u200d appeared only if a voter\u200b wished to \u200cretain\u200d one of the judges but not the other.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe issue is limited to the \u200dretention \u2062of Superior\u2062 Court judges and\u2062 is only an issue when \u200crecording the votes for when a voter selected a \u2018Yes\u2019 for\u2062 one candidate and a \u2018No\u2019 for another,\u201d\u2064 the \u2062Facebook post said.<\/p>\n<p>Poll workers were instructed by text\u2062 message to notify voters about the problem, according to \u2063the post.<\/p>\n<p>According to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.lehighvalleylive.com\/elections\/2023\/11\/election-day-2023-what-went-wrong-in-northampton-county-how-votes-will-be-corrected.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">LehighValleyNews.com<\/a>,\u200b machines were taken offline and \u2063voters received \u200dprovisional ballots\u200b for about an hour. However, once Northampton County\u200b determined that the problem affected \u2062only one race and that it \u2064was affecting that race on \u2063machines throughout the county, poll workers were notified by text\u200b to restart\u200c the machines and notify voters of the problem.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe \u2064uniformity also means it can be \u200dcorrected: \u2063When the votes are officially canvassed over the \u2064next several days, canvassers can assign votes for retention recorded on\u2063 the voting machines, essentially reversing\u2064 the flipped\u200d votes to \u2018reflect \u200dthe intent of the\u200d voter,\u2019\u201d\u200c according to a\u200c court filing reported by the website.<\/p>\n<p>According to\u200d LehighValleyNews.com, the chairman of the\u200d <a href=\"https:\/\/www.northamptoncountygop.com\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Northampton County Republican\u2063 Committee<\/a>, Glenn Geissinger, said the party would appeal that decision.<\/p>\n<p>The county\u2019s Facebook page limited the ability of users to comment on its post.<\/p>\n<p>But\u200b at a time when election integrity is in the national \u200dspotlight,\u200d the news got\u2064 attention on social media from\u200c across the\u2064 country.<\/p>\n<p>In Arizona, Abe Hamadeh, a Republican <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/judge-tosses-arizona-gop-ag-candidates-lawsuit-contesting-2022-election\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">former attorney general \u2064candidate<\/a> and\u200d <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/gop-congresswoman-announces-retirement-washington-d-c-broken\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">current congressional contender<\/a>, \u2062posted a mocking note to\u200c the social media platform X:<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">Safest most secure election ever!<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOfficials said \u2063that\u2063 when a\u2063 voter would select \u2018yes\u2019 \u2064or \u2018no\u2019 on their ballot for one \u2062of the candidates up for\u200d retention to the PA \u2064Superior Court, \u200cthe vote was recorded \u200con the paper\u200c ballot and on the machine\u2064 for\u200b the other\u201d\u200c <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/7IeYYMQOBQ\">https:\/\/t.co\/7IeYYMQOBQ<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Abe Hamadeh (@AbrahamHamadeh) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/AbrahamHamadeh\/status\/1721983962778886514?\">November 7,\u200b 2023<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Northampton County\u2019s chief executive,\u2064 Lamont McClure said he was\u2063 \u201clivid\u201d\u200c at\u2062 the problems at\u200d the polls, \u200c <a href=\"https:\/\/www.lehighvalleynews.com\/elections\/election-2023-widespread-voting-machine-problems-reported-in-northampton-county\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">LehighValleyNews.com<\/a> reported.<\/p>\n<hr>\n<h3>A Note from Our Staff:<\/h3>\n<p>Did you\u200c know that 90 percent of advertisers will have nothing\u2062 to do \u200cwith The Western Journal?
