Ron DeSantis Receives\u2063 Game-Changing Endorsement in GOP Presidential Race<\/h2>\n<p>In his campaign to secure the \u200bRepublican \u200cpresidential nomination, Gov. Ron DeSantis of Florida has received a \u2064powerful endorsement.<\/p>\n<p>On Monday, Republican \u200dGov. Kim Reynolds of Iowa threw her support behind the Florida governor, who currently \u200btrails former President Donald Trump by a wide margin in \u2064most national polls.<\/p>\n<p>DeSantis shared a 5-minute clip of Reynolds\u2019\u200d endorsement \u200cspeech Monday on\u2064 X.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">It is an honor to be\u200c endorsed by Iowa\u2019s great governor,\u2063 <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/KimReynoldsIA?\">@KimReynoldsIA<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Kim has\u2062 led her state with strength and principle \u2014 and delivered big results. She knows how to win the\u2064 tough fights needed to get things \u2063done.<\/p>\n<p>Together, we \u2063will win Iowa. <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/kWRHkCwoHU\">pic.twitter.com\/kWRHkCwoHU<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Ron DeSantis (@RonDeSantis) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/RonDeSantis\/status\/1721689919674777643?\">November \u200b7, 2023<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>In her speech, Reynolds touched upon several issues on which the DeSantis campaign clearly regards \u2064Trump as\u2063 vulnerable. \u200bSome of these likely will play with the Republican \u2064base,\u200b while others will not.<\/p>\n<p>The\u200d Iowa\u200d governor began by highlighting perceived\u2062 differences in the candidates\u2019 personalities \u200band even in \u200dtheir motives.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe need someone\u2064 who won\u2019t get distracted but will stay disciplined, who\u200b puts this country first and not himself. \u200dThat leader\u200b is Ron DeSantis,\u201d\u2063 Reynolds said to raucous \u200bcheers.<\/p>\n<p>She then shifted\u200c to the\u200d COVID pandemic, a subject\u200c on which DeSantis received high marks from liberty-loving conservatives.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe pressure to shut\u2063 down, to \u2018shelter in place,\u2019 to keep our kids out of school, was unbelievable. And\u200b it came\u200b from \u2062every corner, even \u200dfrom the White House,\u201d Reynolds recalled.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou know, most leaders, they buckled under that pressure. They\u2062 listened to \u200dFauci instead of the\u2063 real science. But there was\u200c one man, running for president, who\u200d did \u200bnot: Ron\u200c DeSantis,\u201d she added.<\/p>\n<p>Having praised DeSantis\u2019 resolve during \u200bthe COVID \u2063madness, Reynolds then touted \u200dhis broader abilities as a leader.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhat \u2063I\u2063 love most about \u2064Ron is he gets things done,\u201d \u2064the Iowa governor said, amplifying \u200dher\u200b voice on the\u200d final three\u2064 words.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTo be quite honest, he is\u2063 one of\u200b the\u2062 most \u200deffective leaders \u200cthat \u200cI have ever seen,\u201d she\u200b added.<\/p>\n<p>Reynolds also cited DeSantis\u2019 strong\u200c pro-life credentials. She praised the Florida governor as \u201csomeone that\u2064 knows when life\u2064 begins and\u2063 thinks \u2063it\u2019s a beautiful thing \u200bto save a beating heart.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Finally,\u200d Reynolds championed DeSantis as \u200b\u201csomeone who, most importantly, can win.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In some ways, the Reynolds-DeSantis alliance makes \u200bperfect sense. After all, the two governors have followed similar electoral \u200ctrajectories in recent years.<\/p>\n<p>Reynolds, for instance, narrowly won the governorship \u200din 2018, defeating \u200bher Democratic challenger by\u200c fewer than three percentage points,\u2062 50.3-47.5. Four \u200dyears later, however, she \u200bwon reelection in a \u2062landslide, \u200d58-39.5.<\/p>\n<p>DeSantis, meanwhile, also won the governorship of his state by a razor-thin margin\u200b in 2018, 49.6-49.2. Like Reynolds, the Florida \u200cgovernor then scored a runaway reelection \u200cvictory in\u2063 2022, 59.4-40.<\/p>\n<p>Despite their similarities,\u2062 however, it remains to be seen whether Reynolds\u2019\u200d endorsement\u2063 will have the effect DeSantis hopes. After all, \u200bthe \u200blatest RealClearPolitics average of\u200c polls \u2062shows Trump leading DeSantis by more \u200bthan 30 points in Iowa.<\/p>\n<p>Furthermore, Trump\u2019s nearly 30-point\u2064 edge over DeSantis \u2063in \u2063Florida \u200csuggests that popular\u2063 governors might have limited influence even in their home states.<\/p>\n<p>Still, Reynolds\u2019 \u200bspeech showed how \u2064DeSantis and his supporters plan \u200bto \u2062continue highlighting what they \u2063perceive as \u200dthe Florida governor\u2019s strengths and Trump\u2019s weaknesses.<\/p>\n<p>For instance, Reynolds spoke of DeSantis\u2019 COVID\u200b response\u2062 and \u2062his <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/in-depth-pro-life-gop-a-winning-2024-strategy-survey-data-challenges-democrat-and-media-assumptions\/\" title=\"IN-DEPTH: Pro-Life GOP a Winning 2024 Strategy? Many of Trump\u2019s voters, after all, do not share\u2062 their preferred candidate\u2019s\u2064 enthusiasm for the COVID vaccine. Nor do they share his tepid views on abortion, \u2062though they appreciate his practical efforts and results on that front.<\/p>\n<p>On the\u2063 other hand, petty barbs \u2062that \u200bportray\u2062 Trump as\u2062 selfish will \u2064not play at all.\u2063 Daily images of the\u2063 former\u2064 president sitting in courtrooms should convey courage and resilience. After all, a billionaire who could have devoted his golden years to golf but instead endures \u200da corrupt regime\u2019s persecution \u2062will hardly\u2063 strike most voters as selfish.<\/p>\n<p>Likewise, predicting who \u2064\u201ccan win\u201d will not play. This rings \u2062hollow, like\u2064 a remnant of a \u2064Bush-Cheney era \u200bthat many\u2062 Republican voters today would rather\u200d forget.<\/p>\n<p>Above all, however, Reynolds\u2019\u200c endorsement of\u200d DeSantis as someone who \u201ccan win\u201d \u2063assumes that \u200bTrump voters\u2063 would simply migrate to the Florida governor should\u2063 he somehow win the\u2062 Republican nomination. That will not happen.<\/p>\n<p>As desperately as some powerful Republicans would like \u200dto \u200cgo\u2064 back\u2064 to the \u200bway things used to\u200d be, Trump\u2019s voters \u2064have seen too much. They already \u200dknow the \u201csomehow\u201d that establishment Republicans seem to have in mind, and they resent it.<\/p>\n<p>In short, Trump\u2019s\u2062 supporters have seen Russiagate,\u2062 multiple sham impeachments, federal agencies weaponized, mass censorship,\u200b a stolen 2020 election, the lies \u200csurrounding\u200d January 6 and now four politically motivated indictments.
