The union has suspended the Stand Up Strike while the ratification\u2063 process goes forward.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>UAW members\u200c began striking against Ford, \u200dGeneral Motors, and Stellantis in\u2062 September\u200d after failing to reach a deal on a\u2062 new labor contract by the 11:59 p.m. Sept. 14 deadline.<\/p>\n<p>The strikes followed \u200dweeks of failed\u2063 negotiations over increased wages, enhanced benefits, pensions, and working conditions, as requested by the roughly 146,000\u2064 union members at all \u2063three of\u2062 the\u2063 Detroit auto companies.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/blockquote>\n<div class=\"my-5\">\n<p>However, in the weeks since the strike began,\u2063 automakers have more than\u2062 doubled their <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/surprise-uaw-strike-at-ford-raises-stakes-for-detroit-three\/\" title=\"UAW strike at Ford intensifies competition for Detroit Three.\">initial wage hike offers<\/a>, agreed to raise wages along with inflation, and \u200cimproved pay for temporary workers.<\/p>\n<h2>Strike Hits Auto Industry Earnings<\/h2>\n<p>The \u200bstrike against the three automakers\u2013known as the Big\u200c Three\u2014has so far\u200b resulted \u200cin more than an estimated $9 billion in economic losses for the automobile industry, according to estimates \u200bfrom the Anderson Economic\u200d Group (AEG).<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<blockquote>\n<div data-post-content=\"true\" class=\"post_content\" id=\"post_content\">\n<p>It has also \u2062cost workers $488 million in lost wages and resulted in dealers and customers collectively losing $1.86\u2063 billion, while\u200c suppliers have taken \u2064a $2.78 billion hit, according to AEG.<\/p>\n<p>Union leaders announced\u200d it had reached a tentative deal with Ford on\u2064 Oct. 25.<\/p>\n<p>The\u2062 deal includes a 25 percent pay rise with an immediate 11\u200c percent wage hike upon ratification, and cost-of-living raises that \u200cwill put the pay increase over 30 percent by the time the contracts end on April 30, 2028, to more than $40 per hour \u200bfor\u2063 top-scale assembly plant workers.<\/p>\n<p>In addition, the union secured a\u2063 150 percent raise for current Ford temps \u2064through the 2023 agreement, a 33 percent top\u2063 wage increase through 2023, and a historic three-year\u200d wage progression.<\/p>\n<p>Workers hired after 2009 without defined benefit pensions will also receive 10 percent annual company contributions to 401(k) plans, along with $5,000 ratification bonuses.<\/p>\n<p>The tentative deal requires \u2062ratification by a majority of Ford&#8217;s 57,000 union-represented employees.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The gains in the deal at Ford are valued\u2063 at more than four times the gains from the union\u2019s 2019 contract,&#8221; the\u200b UAW said.\u200d &#8220;The new agreement provides more in base\u2063 wage increases than Ford workers have received in the past 22 years.&#8221;<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/blockquote>\n<div class=\"post-figure\">\n<figure style=\"width:600px\" class=\"alignnone\"><figcaption>  President Joe Biden addresses \u2064a UAW picket line at a General \u200dMotors Service Parts Operations plant in Belleville, Mich., on Sept. 26, 2023. \u2064(Jim \u200dWatson\/AFP via Getty Images)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"my-5\">\n<h2>Biden Welcomes &#8216;Historic&#8217; Agreements<\/h2>\n<p>According\u200c to the union, the \u200dlowest-paid workers at Ford\u200b will see a raise of more than 150 percent\u2062 over the life of the agreement, with some workers receiving an immediate 85 percent\u200d increase upon ratification.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<blockquote>\n<div data-post-content=\"true\" class=\"post_content\" id=\"post_content\">\n<p>&#8220;The agreement reinstates major benefits lost during the Great Recession, including cost-of-living\u2062 allowances [sic] and a three-year wage progression, as well as killing divisive wage tiers in \u2064the union.
