That\u2064 recall involved the\u200c company&#8217;s Victor Super Premium Dog Food, Hi-Pro \u200dPlus which is also produced \u2063at its Mount Pleasant production facility.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"my-5\">\n<p>The FDA \u200curged retailers and \u200cdistributors\u200c to\u2063 immediately pull the recalled lots from their inventory \u200band\u2062 shelves and not \u2062to sell or donate the \u2063products.<\/p>\n<h2>What Is Salmonella?<\/h2>\n<p>&#8220;Do \u200bnot feed the recalled products to\u200b pets or any \u200cother animals. Destroy the food\u2064 in\u2062 a way that children, pets, and wildlife cannot access. Wash \u2062and sanitize pet food bowls, cups, and storage \u200dcontainers,&#8221; the agency said. &#8220;Always ensure that you wash and sanitize your hands after handling recalled food \u200dor any utensils\u200c that\u200b come in contact with recalled food.&#8221;<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"my-5\">\n<p>Salmonella\u2062 are bacteria that live in the\u200d intestines of people and\u2063 animals and can cause symptoms\u200c such \u200das diarrhea, fever, and stomach\u200d cramps, although in some cases it \u200bcan cause\u200d severe \u200bdisease, according \u200dto the \u2064Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cdc.gov\/salmonella\/general\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">CDC<\/a>).<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>Individuals can\u2062 contract\u200b salmonella in a number of ways, \u200dsuch as by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/these-premade-salads-and-salad-kits-have-been-recalled\/\" title=\"These Premade Salads and Salad Kits Have Been Recalled\">consuming contaminated food<\/a> \u2062or <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/doomsday-document-predicted-food-shortages-two-years-ago\/\" title=\"\u201cDoomsday Document\u201d Predicted Food Shortages Two Years Ago\">drinking contaminated water<\/a>, or touching\u200b animals that are\u2062 infected.<\/p>\n<p>Symptoms\u2063 of salmonella poisoning typically begin within six hours\u200b to six days after \u200dinfection and can last four to\u2062 seven days, although some people do not display symptoms until several weeks after infection.<\/p>\n<p>In rare cases, salmonella can lead\u200c to \u2064serious <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/us-pet-food-maker-recalls-dog-food-nationwide-amid-possible-salmonella-risk\/\" title=\"US pet food maker recalls dog food nationwide due to potential salmonella risk.\">health implications including \u200darterial infections<\/a>, endocarditis, and arthritis.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Salmonella can affect animals eating the \u200dproducts and there is risk \u200bto humans from handling\u2062 contaminated pet products, especially if they have not thoroughly washed their hands after \u200chaving \u2063contact with the \u2064products\u2062 or \u2063any surfaces exposed to these products,&#8221; the FDA notes.<\/p>\n<p>Pets with\u200c salmonella infections may display signs of lethargy and have diarrhea or bloody\u200b diarrhea, fever, and vomiting, according\u2063 to the FDA.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Some pets will have only decreased \u2064appetite, fever, and abdominal pain. Infected but\u2064 otherwise healthy \u2064pets can\u2063 be \u2064carriers and\u2064 infect other\u200b animals or humans.
