The agency recently announced the purchase of\u200b four \u200ctrains based on the same hydrogen-powered technology\u2064 for $80 million. These trains will \u2062operate on the &#8220;Valley Rail&#8221; service, running between Sacramento \u200cand Merced, and are\u200b expected to be in service by early 2027.<\/p>\n<p>According to Nicole Mowers,\u2064 spokeswoman for Caltrans, &#8220;These are complete trainsets\u2014passenger areas and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/americas-first-hydrogen-powered-train-coming-to-southern-california\/\" title=\"First hydrogen-powered train arriving in Southern California.\">hydrogen fuel-powered engines built<\/a> together\u2014like a BART or light rail train. This is, in part, why they\u2064 are more efficient \u200c(lighter weight) and more affordable than\u200d traditional sets\u200d of locomotive and coaches.&#8221;<\/p>\n<div class=\"my-5\">\n<p>San Bernardino&#8217;s train arrived in the U.S. in September and is scheduled to be in \u200bservice in the fall of 2024.
