The briefing was conducted by then-FBI Deputy Assistant Director for Counterintelligence Nikki Floris and then-FBI Foreign Influence Task Force (FITF) Section Chief Bradley Benavides.<\/p>\n<div class=\"my-5\">The details of the August 6,\u200c 2020 briefing are unclear, but it coincided with media reports \u2063suggesting that the Republican Senators \u2064were spreading Russian disinformation. According to a July 19, 2023 testimony by Ms. Floris,\u2063 any analyst within the intelligence community can submit information for a defensive briefing\u2063 to the ODNI&#8217;s\u2063 Credibility Assessment Group, which then decides whether the\u200b briefing is warranted. The \u200dFBI is responsible for providing the briefing, regardless of the source of the underlying intelligence.<\/p>\n<div class=\"my-5\">Both Ms. Floris and Mr. Benavides have advised\u2062 House investigators to seek further details\u200c about the August 6, 2020 briefing from the ODNI. <\/div>\n<h2>Jordan&#8217;s\u2062 Questions for ODNI<\/h2>\n<div class=\"my-5\">In his letter, Mr. Jordan called on the \u2063ODNI to provide\u2063 documents and communications related to the controversial briefing, as well as scripts, drafts of scripts, and lists of ODNI officials involved in the decision \u200bto hold the briefing.<\/div>\n<div class=\"my-5\">Mr. Jordan is also investigating\u200c whether the August 6, 2020 defensive briefing is connected\u200b to a July 13, 2020 <a href=\"https:\/\/i.ntd.com\/assets\/uploads\/2023\/11\/id951659-20200713_big_4_letter_to_fbi_director_wray_-_defensive_briefing_signed.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">letter<\/a> from Democratic lawmakers to the FBI. The letter raised\u200d concerns about foreign interference in the 2020 \u2063election and requested a defensive briefing for all members of Congress. Mr. Jordan has asked the ODNI to provide any documents\u200b and communications related to the \u2064July 13, 2020 letter.<\/div>\n<p>Mr. Jordan has\u2064 requested the ODNI to provide the requested records by November 15 and has called for Shelby Pierson, ODNI&#8217;s Intelligence Community Election Threats Executive, to appear for an interview with his committee by the\u200b same date.<\/p>\n<div class=\"my-5\">In July 2019, then-DNI Dan Coats appointed Ms. Pierson as ODNI&#8217;s Intelligence Community Election Threats Executive. She remains a key figure in the investigation.<\/div>\n<p>&#8220;Our oversight has revealed\u200b that \u2063 [Ms. Pierson] was personally involved with formulating ODNI\u2019s Notification Framework and has relevant information relating\u200b to the intelligence and\u2063 processes used to justify\u200b the August 6 defensive briefing,&#8221; Mr. Jordan wrote.<\/p>\n<p>NTD News\u200c reached out to the ODNI for comment but did not receive a response at the time of publication.<\/p>\n<div class=\"my-5\"><em>From\u200d <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ntd.com\/jim-jordan-probing-if-us-intel-community-helped-obstruct-congressional-hunter-biden-investigation_951641.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">NTD News<\/a><\/em><\/div>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p> <\/p>\n<h2> What specific documents and \u200dcommunications related to the\u200d August 6, 2020 \u200cbriefing \u200cis\u2064 Mr. Jordan requesting from the ODNI?<\/h2>\n<p><span>  Rom the \u2062FBI and the ODNI. The ODNI, on the other\u2063 hand, has stated that it\u2064 does not have access to the requested documents and suggested that the FBI should be the primary source of information.<\/div>\n<p>Mr. \u2062Jordan is \u2062now\u200b calling on the ODNI to release all documents and communications \u2064related to the \u2064August 6, 2020 briefing, as well as\u200c any instructions given\u2062 to Floris and\u2063 Benavides.
