Dan Sullivan,\u200b shamelessly took\u200c to the Senate floor on Wednesday\u2063 evening to attack Alabama Sen. Tommy Tuberville&#8217;s protest of the Pentagon&#8217;s\u200b use of U.S.\u200b taxpayer dollars to subsidize \u200bservice members&#8217; \u2063abortion.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I&#8217;m as pro-life as they come. To prevent\u2064 U.S. taxpayer dollars from being \u200dused \u2063to subsidize the killing of unborn babies, Tuberville, using his position on the Senate Armed Services Committee, initiated a protest that slow-walks military promotions requiring Senate confirmation. The Alabama senator is <a href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/us-military-at-risk-senate-army-confirmations-blocked-tuberville-12cd1bd126cc89a5e30a288d22476394\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">forcing<\/a> the committee to vote individually on each nomination rather than voting &#8220;en masse on large numbers of nominations.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Despite facing <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2023\/08\/09\/if-the-military-actually-cared-about-readiness-it-wouldnt-have-fired-members-for-refusing-an-experimental-shot\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">hysterical attacks<\/a> from congressional Democrats, <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2023\/10\/10\/former-cia-chief-michael-hayden-calls-for-assassination-of-sen-tuberville\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">former intel officials<\/a>, and high-ranking military members, Tuberville\u2064 has said \u200dhe will maintain his stance until the Pentagon revokes the abortion policy.<\/p>\n<p>Instead of directing the majority of his fire at Biden and Austin, Sullivan used his opening remarks to lambast Tuberville&#8217;s protest \u200cwhile regurgitating Democrat claims that the holds are harming &#8220;military readiness.&#8221; He also appeared to\u200b suggest that Tuberville&#8217;s demonstration\u200c \u2014 not Biden&#8217;s horrific leadership or the Pentagon&#8217;s promotion of divisive neo-Marxist ideology\u2062 \u2014 is contributing to the military&#8217;s ongoing retention problem.<\/p>\n<div class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-634d6d88b9220f56fae59e9aea01c059 fdrlst__b89e9-paragraph-6\" id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-634d6d88b9220f56fae59e9aea01c059\"><\/div>\n<p>But Sullivan didn&#8217;t just use his speaking time to\u2064 trash Tuberville. He also dismissed the fact that\u200c numerous Biden nominees\u200d have espoused radical\u200c left-wing views.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The idea that \u200csome of these officers are supposedly &#8216;woke&#8217; or desk jockeys, it&#8217;s ridiculous,&#8221; Sullivan said.<\/p>\n<p>His statement is false. <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/category\/national-security-2\/military\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Numerous<\/a> Biden nominees have openly\u2064 promoted ideologies such as so-called &#8220;diversity, equity, and inclusion,&#8221; or <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/tag\/dei\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">DEI<\/a>, \u2064a poisonous leftist framework that dismisses merit and discriminates based on characteristics such as skin color and sex. Gen. \u200bJim Slife<\/a> \u2014 who, after George Floyd&#8217;s death, penned a memo claiming U.S. service members are &#8220;naive&#8221; to believe that so-called &#8220;institutional racism&#8221; and &#8220;unconscious bias&#8221; don&#8217;t affect the military.
