Among them, only a select few have \u2064truly stood out as world-class leaders. Let&#8217;s take a moment to remember and \u200ccelebrate these extraordinary individuals. Here is my list of America&#8217;s finest\u200d 11 commanders.<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<h3><strong>Matthew \u200dB. Ridgway, 1895-1993 (WWII and Korea)<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Few generals have achieved what Matthew B. Ridgway did during the Korean War. In a short \u200bspan of time, he completely reversed a catastrophic strategic situation, snatching victory from the jaws\u200b of defeat. Ridgway, a West\u200d Point graduate, exemplified\u2062 the image of a true field general, earning the respect and admiration\u2063 of his \u2064men. \u2064His fearless leadership and infectious drive propelled him \u200dto parachute into Europe during World War II\u2063 at the age of 49. <\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<div id=\"attachment_646321\" style=\"width: 471px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\">\n<p id=\"caption-attachment-646321\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">(Original Caption) Portrait of General Matthew B. The Chinese\u200d People&#8217;s Liberation Army seemed\u200c invincible, pushing the UN forces towards complete withdrawal. However, Ridgway, with his extensive experience in the\u2062 Ardennes during World War II, recognized the opportunity to turn the tide. His \u200dremarkable achievements led President Truman to\u2062 appoint\u2063 him as the overall theater commander, replacing the outspoken \u2062MacArthur. Ridgway&#8217;s leadership\u2063 not only saved the war but also \u2064preserved Truman&#8217;s presidency and the credibility of the United States.
