But would America really become like these \u200bunarmed nations if firearms were outlawed and confiscated?<\/p>\n<p>Imagine\u2063 a scenario where AR-15s are given\u2063 up and then\u2063 a mass shooting occurs with a semi-automatic handgun. Opponents \u200bof gun rights\u2062 would demand a ban on handguns\u200b as well.\u200b And the cycle would continue, with hunting rifles, shotguns, and eventually almost every gun being banned. The\u200c demand for &#8220;safety&#8221; would be too strong for politicians to resist. It wouldn&#8217;t take long for the\u200c right\u200c to keep and bear \u2064arms to become meaningless.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>&#8220;Senator, just a few months ago\u2062 you voted to ban AR-15s because scores of children\u2064 were killed in a school shooting. Today,\u200c with more dead children, you won&#8217;t support the\u200b banning of semi-automatic\u200d handguns? How can you \u200btell those parents\u200d why the \u200cshooter \u200dwas able\u200b to legally\u200c obtain a Glock 19 that, like the AR-15s that you voted to ban, allowed the shooter to\u200c fire many\u200b rounds and reload\u200c in \u200da matter of seconds? What&#8217;s the difference, \u200dsenator? Do those dead children think it was better to be shot by a handgun rather than a long \u2062gun? Senator?&#8221;<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Lawmakers would crumble under such questioning. The result? A technical right to bear arms that is practically meaningless.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Mexico&#8217;s Experience<\/h2>\n<p>Comparing the United States to Australia and New Zealand is flawed. Mexico, on the other hand, provides a more\u2064 relevant example. Like the U.S., Mexico \u2063has a long history of firearm ownership guaranteed by its constitution. However, over time, Mexico has implemented stricter regulations, limiting the right to own firearms \u200dto one&#8217;s home. Only a small \u200dnumber of permits have\u2062 been issued, mostly to the wealthy and politically connected.<\/p>\n<p>But has this tradeoff made Mexico safer? Not at all. Mexico has a much <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/nyc-mayor-adams-those-who-voted-against-build-back-better-are-defunders-of-the-police\/\" title=\"NYC Mayor Adams: Those Who Voted Against Build Back Better Are ' Defunders of the Police'\">higher murder rate<\/a> than the United States, and it is plagued by corruption\u200c and drug\u200b cartels. The average citizen cannot legally possess a firearm to protect \u200dthemselves from\u200b criminals who possess firearms illegally. Law enforcement officers live in constant fear of reprisals \u200bfrom cartels.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What \u200dWould Happen in the U.S.?<\/h2>\n<p>If the majority of firearms were \u200dbanned \u2063in the U.S., we would likely end up like Mexico. Only criminals, the wealthy,\u200b the politically connected, and their bodyguards would have firearms. Well-armed\u2064 criminals would operate freely, and corruption\u200d would <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/an-america-without-gun-rights-would-look-like-mexico-not-australia\/\" title=\"A gun-free America would resemble Mexico, not Australia.\">infiltrate law enforcement agencies<\/a> and the courts.<\/p>\n<p>Gun bans would not lead \u200dto a decrease in \u2064violence; instead, they would increase it. Mexican cartels, already smuggling drugs and people into the U.S., would\u200d become the unofficial suppliers of firearms. The\u200c left&#8217;s lack of concern for criminals using guns during crimes is \u200bevident in how they reduce\u200c gun charges for repeat offenders. If\u2064 firearms became illegal, \u200dthey would likely do the same.<\/p>\n<p>While the \u2063right\u2064 often invokes the memory of disarmed\u200b Jews under Hitler, a more accurate \u2062comparison can \u2063be found by looking at \u200dMexico. The consequences of banning firearms in America would be dire.<\/p>\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\">\n<\/div>\n<p> <\/p>\n<h2> Why do proponents \u200cof the right to bear arms argue that banning firearms would infringe upon fundamental freedoms and undermine the principles upon which \u200cthe country was founded?<\/h2>\n<p><span>  \u2063 Estions \u2063and demands. They\u200d would feel compelled to ban handguns \u2063and any other\u200b firearm that \u200ccould\u200b potentially be used in a mass shooting. However, the \u2062consequences of such a \u200cban would\u2062 be\u2062 far-reaching\u200c and detrimental to\u2063 American\u2062 society.<\/p>\n<p>Firstly, \u2063it is important to \u200crecognize that banning firearms\u2064 would\u200c not eliminate violence\u200d or \u2064mass \u200bshootings. Criminals,\u200c by definition, do\u200b not follow the law. No matter how strict the gun \u200bcontrol measures, \u200dthere will always be those who obtain firearms illegally.
