We stand \u2064in solidarity \u2064with Israel and denounce all forms of terrorism.&#8221; The ministry\u2064 also posted an image on \u200dX,\u2062 formerly Twitter, showing the top of Taipei&#8217;s tallest\u2064 building lit\u2063 with blue \u200cand white light, representing Israel&#8217;s flag. Last week, China also joined Russia in vetoing\u200b a U.S.-led draft resolution in the United\u200d Nations Security Council. A dispatch by Xinhua News Agency described the Oct. 7 attack: &#8220;The Palestinian Islamic Resistance Movement [Hamas] on\u200b Saturday launched a surprise \u2062attack on \u2064southern Israeli towns adjacent \u200dto the Gaza \u2064Strip, prompting\u2064 Israel to\u200d launch\u2064 retaliatory \u200cstrikes on Gaza.&#8221; The agency didn&#8217;t mention the murders, rapes, or abductions of\u2062 Israelis that Hamas committed.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">China Lets Antisemitism Roar on TikTok<\/h2>\n<p>Besides Beijing&#8217;s disturbing official responses, Israel has other reasons to be discontent with China. Hamas called for a &#8220;Day \u200cof Rage&#8221; on Oct. 13 to &#8220;attack Israel and Jews&#8221; worldwide. An Israeli\u200c embassy employee was stabbed in Beijing, the capital of\u2062 China and a city heavily guarded by \u200cpolice and monitored by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/chinese-officials-plan-surveillance-system-to-target-journalists-foreign-students\/\" title=\"Chinese Officials Plan Surveillance System To Target Journalists, Foreign Students\">facial recognition cameras<\/a>. While\u2062 many Chinese\u200c people voiced sympathy for Israelis,\u200d antisemitic\u2062 remarks are reportedly on\u200d the rise\u2062 in China&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/monday-october-4th-2021\/\" title=\"Monday | October 4th, 2021\">censored social media<\/a> too.<\/p>\n<p>In the U.S., anti-Israel propaganda flooded the\u2064 Chinese-owned social media app TikTok, which has 100 million U.S. users and a large youth\u200b demographic. TikTok has \u2064become \u200cAmerican youths&#8217; go-to news source. Some suspect the app&#8217;s \u200dalgorithm and its dominant anti-Israel \u2063views tend to reinforce such views. TikTok seems partially responsible for a recent poll that shows the majority of Americans\u200d between 18 and 24 believe Hamas&#8217; terrorist attack against Israel is &#8220;justified.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>It is particularly infuriating that Arab\u200d nations and leftists in \u200cthe West loudly condemn Israelis as colonizers and settlers and Israel&#8217;s self-defense as &#8220;ethnic cleansing&#8221; of Gazans while remaining silent about the Chinese Communist Party&#8217;s genocide of Uyghur \u2064Muslims in Xinjiang.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">China and\u2064 Israel&#8217;s Relationship<\/h2>\n<p>Israel&#8217;s \u2063disappointment in Beijing is understandable because, before Hamas \u2064attacked Israel, China and Israel had enjoyed a relatively good relationship. China has always supported the Palestinian cause &#8220;due to its alignment with Maoism and liberation movements in the \u200d1960s and 1970s.&#8221; Yet China actively sought to deepen\u200c economic and technological ties with Israel since the\u200d &#8217;90s as China began to embark on its economic reform.<\/p>\n<p>The two \u200dcountries established a formal diplomatic relationship \u2062in 1992. China turned to\u2062 Israel for a\u2063 practical reason. Since\u200b Israel is a \u200dglobal \u200ctechnology \u200bhub, Beijing\u2062 hopes to acquire advanced technologies in\u2063 Israel. These will\u2062 help \u2064China modernize its military\u2063 and realize its ambition of becoming a technological powerhouse.<\/p>\n<p>As of 2022, China\u2062 was\u2064 Israel&#8217;s second-largest trading partner, with the total trade\u200d value reaching $24.45 billion. Both the Trump and\u2064 Biden administrations restricted sensitive \u200btechnological exports to China. As a result, \u2062China&#8217;s direct investment in Israel&#8217;s IT industry, especially in chips and semiconductors, has increased.
