save their own child and what happens when a bureaucracy gets to make that decision instead of \u200cyou?<\/p>\n<p>The heartbreaking \u2064case \u200dof Indi Gregory, an 8-month-old \u200b <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/zg-auschwitz-survivor-99-honored-by-britains-king-charles\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">British<\/a> baby \u2063with a terminal genetic disorder, is \u2064the most\u2063 recent example of what happens when you let the government dictate\u200b who is worth the chance at life.<\/p>\n<p>Indi, an 8-month-old with mitochondrial disease, a disease which saps energy, had been receiving treatment at Nottingham\u2019s Queen\u2019s Medical Centre, but U.K. doctors\u200d had recommended \u200bwithdrawing life support, stating that there was no cure for her condition, according \u200bto the\u200b <a href=\"https:\/\/www.telegraph.co.uk\/news\/2023\/10\/30\/indi-gregory-treated-italy-hospital-mitochondrial-disease\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Telegraph<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Doctors advised that continuing to keep Indi on life \u2062support was \u201cfutile,\u201d and judges agreed that doctors could\u200d \u201clawfully limit the treatment \u200bthey provide to Indi.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Indi\u2019s parents, Dean Gregory\u2063 and Claire Staniforth, lost legal battles in U.K. courts, including the High Court,\u200b to keep her on life support\u200d against doctors\u2019 recommendations and their case was not accepted at the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) in \u2064Strasbourg, France.<\/p>\n<p>But now an Italian hospital, through the efforts of \u2063Christian Legal Centre, a campaign group, has offered to take over her care.<\/p>\n<p>A representative\u200b for \u200bthe Christian Legal Center said in a statement that a leading pediatric hospital in Italy has offered specialist\u2064 treatment to Indi.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFully-funded by the Italian government, the Bambino\u2062 Gesu Paediatric Hospital in Rome has agreed to accept Indi for treatment,\u201d \u2063the\u2063 representative said.<\/p>\n<p>Indi\u2019s parents are now begging the doctors\u2064 at the Queen\u2019s Medical Centre and the lawyers
