These are individuals whose identities &#038;\u2062 purpose we do not know.\u200b That\u200d is why\u200b you need every Border Patrol agent to be in the field and on \u200cpatrol,&#8221; he wrote.<\/p>\n<p>On his podcast, \u2064Sen. Ted\u2063 Cruz (R-Texas) warned that the heightened number of gotaways is a\u200c major national security concern.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;If you were a terrorist, if you wanted to commit jihad, there is an obvious way to do\u2062 that &#8230; If you\u2019re a terrorist \u200dwho wants to murder Americans, the way to do it is to cross over our southern\u200c border because\u2063 these idiots \u2064in the White House will let you go, \u200cand they\u2019re not enforcing the border, \u200band it\u2019s not hard to be a\u2062 gotaway,&#8221; said Mr.\u2064 Cruz.<\/p>\n<h2>&#8216;Worst \u200bYear&#8217; at US Border\u2014&#8217;Ever&#8217;<\/h2>\n<p>Illegal immigrant encounters \u200bat the southwest border in the fiscal year of 2023 have increased over 40 percent since \u200c2021, 4 percent compared\u200c to 2022, and more than 100 percent compared to 2019, making the last fiscal year the worst on\u200c record\u200d under the Biden \u200cadministration, according to a recently released House Homeland Security Committee fact sheet: &#8220;Final FY23 Numbers Show Worst \u200cYear\u2063 At Americas Border \u2013 Ever&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;In the final month of FY2023, CBP recorded\u200c 269,735 encounters at the Southwest border, marking another unprecedented milestone\u2062 under Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas and \u2062President Joe Biden\u2019s\u200b open-borders\u2063 policies,&#8221; the report states.<\/p>\n<p>The report suggests\u2064 Border Patrol agents are already stretched thin dealing with the enormous amount of illegal immigrants voluntarily surrendering, and so \u2062being on the \u200dlookout for terrorists from Hamas, Hezbollah, or the Palestinian Islamic Jihad group is a daunting task.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;There are \u200cno Border Patrol agents out there because they&#8217;re too busy processing the people that are\u2064 turning themselves in; that means \u200call those vast areas between the ports of entry are open, so anybody can come through\u200c and bring anything\u200c they want,&#8221; said Mr. McDonald.<\/p>\n<p>According to statistics from the CBP, \u2062169 people on\u2062 the FBI <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/gop-delegation-calls-on-biden-to-take-action-at-border\/\" title=\"GOP delegation calls on Biden to take action at border\">terror watch list<\/a> were encountered in the\u2062 past \u206412 \u2062months between ports of entry at \u2064the U.S.-Mexico border; 18 were apprehended in September alone\u2014a \u2063number that is 72 percent higher \u2062than the previous year for apprehensions of individuals on the \u200cterror watchlist and,\u2062 and is the most on\u2063 record.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s a number that some \u2063counterterrorism \u2063experts believe may be on the low \u200dend.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;How many others on the terror watch list could have crossed\u200c through?&#8221; former\u200b FBI Special Agent and counterterrorism expert James\u200c Conway told The Epoch Times.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The problem is that Iranian-backed militias are most \u200bsophisticated; Hezbollah has sleeper cells and operatives on the\u2064 ground with operations targeting U.S. and Western targets in all four corners of the\u200b globe.
